What an amazing tribute to Tim Duncan. He was a title contender every single year, and got two more rings after he turned 30 years old.

That same Pistons team that pulled the biggest upset in NBA Finals history, going against the biggest juggernaut of stacked teams of all time, the Lakers were -550 favorites to win that year. Yeah, Tim Duncan ended their potential dynasty.

Also look at the main competition the Spurs had in the early/mid 2000s.

Kings Is still going through their 15 year rebuilding project.
Mavs got better, went bad, rebuilt, won a title and is mediocre again
Lakers rebuilt, won two, then is on another rebuild
Miami won one, sucked, got Lebron, won two, and is mediocre again
Suns got good, then sucked for a long time.
Blazers started to suck, got a little better with Roy, sucked again, got Aldridge and lillard and is rebuilding again.

And then your people built 'em that crying wall and they went in there.
