...not saying we can't win without him sometimes against bottom feeders (Pelicans), but against decent teams, it's gonna be tough.

Could have won the game if the stupid assistant coach didn't draw up an idiotic play: going for 3 when there was enough time for a 2-for-1. Besides, the run started when Porky left the game.

I vividly remember one of those came after Porky turned the ball over which led to a G.Hill dunk.

I know, it just hurts the overall "we always win without Parker" narrative. Actually that is a true statement, except for the times when we lose without him.

Dude was -9 tonight...we lost by 8...
Don't wanna bag on him though, he's clearly burned out... this hurt toe might be a blessing in disguise if it forces him to rest for a while...

Yep, they are pretty much the #2 seed out West and it will stay that way so why not? Not getting 70 wins nor is that their aim I am sure so rest him some.

Reggie Miller: "I think the Spurs might win this game if Tony Parker doesn't return" (Gm 6, 2014 WCF)
Result: Porky doesn't return, Spurs beat their nemesis w/ CoJo/Patty hold it down in what was referred to as the biggest win in team history since G7 of the 2005 Finals where Porky also not surprisingly played like ass.

We only won 3 other games that series with him.

Thank god his daddy ChewBaka missed the first 2 games & CoJo slayed the dragon in Gm 4.
He helped balloon the lead to 16 with his shit play. Cut it down to 3 in 8-9 mins after he quit. Spurs probably win if quits a little sooner tbh.

...except that the lead ballooned back up to 8 by the end...so much for that theory.

the pelicans' game:
spurs were down 81-77 when patty comes in for parker with 4:39 remaining... spurs end the game on a 17-4 run.
was glad to see his ass on the bench. how it was when we eliminated okc, how it was when eliminated the nets in finals.
i hope pop will think maybe tony needs rest and sits him for a few games.
he slows us down because he holds on to the ball. he should come off the bench looking just to score.
this season patty's steal percentage is higher than tony, patty's turnover percentage is lower than tony's... patty's offensive box +/- and box +/- is twice as high as parker's.
spurs are 5-0 without tony.
and then parker shot 1-6 against the kings.
and then tonight:
spurs had 62 points going into the 4th. we had 68 at the 9 minute mark when parker got subbed... spurs proceed to end the game on a 23-15 run.

Parker simply cannot run the offense. How many times do we need to see him waste a possession by hogging the ball, dribbling late into the shot clock while he is surveying the defense so he can either brick a mid range jumper, get trapped on a failed drive attempt or make a bad pass. He is even worse on the defensive end. His mediocre play hasn't been noticed because the team was on a win streak. He will kill the spurs in the playoffs. I can already see Waiters light him up in crunchtime just like the first game of the season. Teams will exploit Parker. He is the weakest PG of all the contenders and spurs fans keep thinking a 2013 Parker is going to show up suddenly and they'll end up in the Finals. He doesn't have it anymore. Period.

Typical Spurstalk dribble without facts. Parker still led the team in assists tonight playing half the game. The "dribble dribble" stuff happens when no one else can get a shot. It actually worked tonight to get Parker a layup or two when we could hit a shot (down 14-4 early, etc.). And he doesn't brick too many apparently, as he has pretty much led the league the entire year for FG% (PGs, SGs, and SFs). It all sounds great because you guys just copy each other. Yes Parker has had a couple bad shooting nights in a row...after he led the team in scoring for 4 games in a row, averaging over 20 PPG on like 60+% shooting. So quit acting like he's having a bad year. Good thing people that get paid to announce the games understand otherwise because they actually pay attention to stats and performance instead of ST narratives.

You are swimming upstream against a narrative that is too facile for haters around here to relinquish. Yes, TP had the highest pg% field goal success rate for the entire league for ALL POINT GUARDS, ALL SHOOTING GUARDS, AND ALL SMALL FORWARDS, at least until the last couple of games. I am not certain he has retained that given the last three games, but it is certainly hasn't dropped all that much due to the last three games. That is a known stat. The fact that those other guards include Stephen Curry and the small forward includes Kawhi Leonard isn't acknowledged, much less praised around here because it doesn't fit the narrative. But a bad game certainly does fit the narrative.
You could also add to that stat that Parker is the most clutch shooter on the team (% fg made in the last five minutes of a game) of the current roster. That stat was released on the SpursLive show two games ago.
It is also true that he led the team in scoring for four games in a row just before this drop off in production, when other shooters were out or having bad games.
But what you don't seem to understand is that absolutely NONE of that matters.
When TP has a bad game, the entire narrative is that TP is a scrub who should be benched for almost any other player in the league. That is the nature of the fan base on this forum.
I agree with those on the forum who say that he needs to sit and get some rest. He only took three shots on basket in the two games preceding last night's. Last night he took 8 and only made 2. He did have 5 assists on a night when the team was shooting less than 20% for most of the first half. When this team is MOST successful is when TP is aggressive and effective, and he looks just too worn out to be either of those things right now.

pretty sure that play was for LMA as he got the ball wide open from the top of the key and he passed it up

You put up a Reggie Miller quote?
Even if Reggie might be correct that's just flat out scraping crap off the floor.

That wasn't LMA, it was D-West that passed up the open look b/c I'm pretty sure that dumbass Italian drew up a play for 3 as Patty didn't hesitate to jack up a contested 3.
