I always tell people to get a grip when they talk about being hot. I tell them they live in south Texas and that it's supposed to be hot.

But for God's sake, it's almost October and it's 105 degrees!!

It's getting ridiculous already.

The average high right now is supposed to be 88.

The NWS says it'll make it, don't see any reason why not. Don't expect it to get "cold", but temps should drop into the 80s for highs and 60s for lows.

MannyIsGod
09-27-2005, 01:11 AM
:lol

I just looked at a model map for the first time in days. The high we're under slides to the west and the front should slide down the frontside of that high. So it should make it rather easily.

Vashner

when is this front supposed to hit?

I remember a few years back the city was expecting a cold front, and that day I was helping my Dad with yard work and it was probably 6 o'clock pm, kinda warm, not bad, the coulds started to build up and all of a sudden the wind picked up and we were getting 20 mph gusts. Wehen that ended, it was colder than a mofo. It was pretty cool feeling the train of a cold front hit you.

If we had a bit more moisture in the air...we might get some good rain out of this. But it looks pretty dry out there. Maybe the front can scare up some showers somehow.

Vashner

I think it's gonna go boom.. not just the little bit of humidity. but like just pent up anger in the soil, rocks and trees from being so toasty...

But yea not enough juice for a prolonged rain event.

MannyIsGod
09-28-2005, 04:48 PM
The colder air takes a while to get there. The primary front is a windshift line. The winds shift in from the north and clear out any moisture. The cold air then filters down.

My favorite fronts are the ones that just blow in with straight up cold air. You're sitting around in 80 degree weather in October and then first gust of wind is strong, and within 30 minutes the tempature has dropped 20 degrees.

I'm ready for Fall. I'm not a big Winter fan, but Fall rules.

Actually, if you look at that Lubbock image again, you'll see the leading edge of the cold air has just passed there. It's not too far behind the first front/windshift. They're both hauling ass to the south.

I have no A/C in my truck either. It's not that surprising, one out of ever 4 cars I pass here on the southside don't have A/C. Today, I was thinking about rolling my windows up because the fucking wind was burning the shit out of my face. God you got to love South Texas heat. I wouldn't have it any other way.
