I am thinking something a little less crowded than Henry's or Griffs or Burger King.

Something a little cheaper and less formal like Ruth Chris, Alexanders, Grey Moss Inn, etc. etc... You know, shorts and wife beater attire.

Grey Moss the place isn't fancy at all and they have a great wine list. I haven't been there in years, but it wasn't that good the last time I was. We also had a waiter that talked our ear off. Which is probably why we haven't been back.

But they usually have deer in the parking lot!

Shelly
09-26-2005, 10:32 PM
J. Alexanders is really good, but it's loud in there because it's really open and it's a young wait staff

I read your post as you wanted places other than Ruth's Chris, GRey Moss Inn, etc.

In that case, go to Ruth's Chris. It's quiet, dark, intimate and excellent service (at those prices, it better be). I've never had a bad meal or experience there. And they don't try to rush you. It's way bettern than Mortons.

SequSpur
09-26-2005, 10:34 PM
Ruth Chris does rule. That is probably at the top of the list, but I wanted to see what else is out there.

We've been to Mortons also, its a nice place to, the only problem was it was crowded, we were in booths, which I can't touch the ground when I am sitting, so comfort was a little poor, but it was pretty neat though.

Better than Ruths Chris

Better than Mortons (very close)

Better than Bandera Bowl

probably the best place in town, get a seat next to the window and have a small wiew of downtown.

Jimcs50
09-27-2005, 08:58 AM
The Barn Door, if you like a great steak, but not too romantic.

Ruth's Criss is way over priced and not worth it at all.

Morton's, downtown is much better IMO. Their slow roasted Prime Rib is orgasmic. If you have not been here, it is cool, because they present the menu on a cart rolled to your table and the waitperson displays and describes each menu item in appetizing and entertaining detail....it is not unlike foreplay. :)

It will set you back about $150 if you have drinks and dessert, but you are guaranteed pussy later. :)

I would vote Morton's, Sequ....trust me.

Both my husband and I have had to send steaks back at Mortons because they were cooked correctly. Mine was here and his was at their restaurant in Baltimore. When I ask for medium rare, I don't expect it to come out just browned on the outside.

Ruthie has gotten it right every time.

Notorious H.O.P.

The Alsatian in Castroville is pretty intimate and the price is right. It pretty much feels like you're walking into someone's house to eat.

If you're mentioning all the steak joints, then The Palm deserves a mention.

I went there on my honeymoon. Beware, I always drink about 5 glasses of tea at dinner in the Summertime. They kept asking me if I want more tea, so I said yes, as always, so betw my wife and I, we had 7 glasses of tea. They charged me for every glass( 2 bucks a glass), the dirty bastards, and I was a poor dental student....so it hurt.

The table next to us had another couple who were out together to and they were just pissed off. I thought I was at a damn bar. The waiter knew I was pissed but couldn't do anything about it, I guess.
