View Full Version : Official LMA Apology Thread
For everyone who doubted LMA. I give you the opportunity to apologize and make amends with our all-star. Against the elite of the west, he was the most consistent player over the home stand, with the biggest impact tbh. :toast

Harlem admitted he was wrong and took the L...so I won't go there
I was worried about him at the beginning of the year but ever since he decided to get his, LMA has been absolutely beast. we're a completely different team now.

The truth is that LMA is a completely different player when Tim is not on the floor with him. He believes that he needs to step his game up and be aggressive. Plus he is not competing with Tim for spots on the floor. He definitely feels the shadow of Tim Duncan when they are on the floor together.

I wouldn't say I doubted him, but he exceeded my expectations tonight.... Would prefer a drive or hook before his love affair with the jumper but oh well.. I will take it

LMA should bully these midgets down low on a 7 game series.
Might as well be the "we knew lma was the spurs best player from day one" thread since it's mostly us posting.

I have questioned LMA's heart, but not lately. I have loved his offensive rebounding and his defense from the get-go. I think his jump shot is money. It's those Blazer-days fadeaways that I don't like. I think he is doing that less now. He showed plenty of heart tonight - just wish it had been against an elite team. :lol

He got so much slack for no reason. His first responsibility was to learn the system and impact on defense. He did that real fast tbh. People said he was soft, and he's the best rebounder spurs have had in a long time. People said he was a liability on the defense and helped lead the spurs to the #1 defensive team. Pop told everyone around March or April you'd see the offense start taking form earlier in the year. That's come to past with Kawhi and lma taking the lead.
People were saying he doesn't show up in big games and he is easily the best player over our home stand against the elites of the west. He has always played those teams well, which made his criticisms especially humorous.
He's a baller man. THe way he plays, he has a few good prime years left too.

I love lamarcus Aldridge, puts in the effort constantly and has done everything possible to make the fit work. He has been a true pro and has proven himself not to be a stat padder or diva or anything like that. Dude is hungry for a ring and has sacrificed spotlight to kawhi (tho kawhi won't take it lol), points, and minutes in order to win. Win or lose, he was well worth signing and the Spurs really signed a great player this summer.

Re: the LMA jumpshot....
He not only (obviously) has the green light to shoot open jumpers, I would bet he has the mandate to shoot open jumpers. The way defenses swarm in the NBA nowadays, good shots are fewer and further between even on possessions with good ball movement. An open long 2 from LMA is more often than not the best +EV point bet we'll see in a given possession. A 17 foot LMA jump shot is probably as good as a mildly contested 5 foot Parker or Mills floater.

True, however I think most here are referring to when he is on the block... He often times turns right to the fall away/ one footed jumper over the right shoulder.

In an era dominated by small ball we do not need a new version of twin towers - especially when it likely would only be for the remainder of this season. Or were you just trolling me? I don't always recognize it.

+1 He also dissolved the "it takes until the second season to really do well in the Spurs system" myth. It took him about a month and a half. If he's improved next year, watch out.

We’re midway through the season, and now he remembers he has the green light to shoot 3s? Fully expect him to crawl back into fetal position ASAP. Let’s also stop pretending he did this out of some scheming, he just didn’t want to bang down low with Drummond and Griffin.

A person has to keep in mind, for LMA to shoot a 3 he'll need an assist. He's hardly ever going to dribble out beyond the arc, himself. So it takes a team effort.
People are talking about this as if it's all on LMA but it certainly is not. It is not just his own decision. His teammates have to be looking for him out there. Is the point.

Maybe or maybe not. Really and truly we give way too much crap to LA & DD. If Pop just plays less of Belli and more LW, DW and DJ I think we’ll be ok. This is the same team I really thought shoulda beat a Denver easily. Now we theoretically have a more experienced team in Pops system AND very good LW waiting in the wings. The HC is the issue by insisting on Beli and Bryn getting time on the court along with his many seniors moments.

Griffin shot more threes. It's just today's nba players are so dumb and soft. There is really no reason to draft on height potential anymore or have players listed as having positions. NBA showing out that ohhs and ahhs are worth more than wins. Its entertainment not skill

I'm skeptical, but hopefully it's not a random blip (he was shooting more of them even before this recent stretch, but still not enough) and he's finally seen the light.
I've long said, he could be a deadly stretch 5 because unlike most of them, he has a quick release and he's a scorer. Most of them are all around or role player types who become gun shy if they've shot a certain amount or are slumping. It he could just adopt the same mentality he has inside the arc, he could extend his career.

But his defense is so bad does it matter. Ok he scores 25ppg. He gives up 15 to 20 not including zero help on d or any physicality. He is what he's always been. Stats better than wins

This and also the main takeaway from that graph is that when your highest paid player(DDR) is constistently below the line there is no point in arguing about other players and their production.

He's really the reason the Spurs made the playoffs the last two years. He's given this rag-tag team just enough punch to be a mediocre playoff team. They'd be solidly in the lottery without his contribution, FWIW.
