Right now I am listening to "Pictures of You" from the Cure. My friend let me hear this CD and it had that song on it. When I heard it, I went back in time. This song was something I would listen to when I was in the 8th grade. I remember really liking that song. It was a song that I dedicated to my girlfriend at the time after we had broken up. :depressed
She took me back after she had heard the song. How funny! :lol
Things seemed easier back then. Oh well. I just wanted to know what song makes you go back in time. I know there may be more than one, but pick one that makes you go back to a certain time.

"Heart of Glass"- by Blondie.

I must have been around 4 y/o living in Houston and that song was played alot on the radio.

"Grease" the main song also takes me back to when I was in pre-kinder.

Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the USA". I remember me and my cousin singing that all the time when we were little, playing in the treehouse in the backyard. It wasn't till much much later that I actually learned what story the lyrics were trying to tell.

I'm going old school on ya...

Make Me Smile - J. Pankow

Children play in the park, they don't know
I'm alone in the dark, even though
Time and time again I see your face smiling inside

I'm so happy
That you love me
Life is lovely
When you're near me
Tell me you will stay
Make me smile

Living life is just a game so they say
All the games we used to play fade away
We may now enjoy the dreams we shared so long ago

Oh my darling, got to have you. Feel the magic when I hold you
Cry sweet tears of joy, touch the sky

Now I need you more than ever. No more crying - we're together
Tell me you will stay. Make me smile

That song by REM. I think it was called, "Losing My Religion (spelled right???)." Everytime I hear that song, I think of a party I was at where I really just wanted to go home. It was so boring.

It's a phenomenon that applies only to my high school, I think, but every time I hear Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger" I have to stop because I feel the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and I'm transported back to Northside (now Gustafson) Stadium on a fall evening in the 1980's.

Somehow, that band director's decision to play that song every time our football team needed a lift and our decision to take his decision seriously while on the football field has left me with some indelible connection to that song.

Let It Be. When I was in First Grade, some teens (hippies as my mom called them back then) played Let It Be EVERY SINGLE MORNING over and over while we were getting ready for school. It had just been released and evidently, they liked it! My mom hates that song to this day.

Different story but Hilarious

Talk about old...

In 1987 I was in the Ingram Park Mall and searching for a CD, since I had just purchased my first CD player.

Anyway, I digress...

Two teens were also shopping. The song playing over the store speakers was was "You Really Got Me" by the Kinks. One kid looked at the other and said, "Hey dude, someone remade that OLD Van Halen song!" I rolled!

I was working in Austin the time tat Wayne's world came out and was singing Bohemian Rhapsody at work when they played it on the the radio. Those kids had no clue as to how I knew all the worlds to the song because it was brand new. I told them it was old from 1975...they did not believe me so I brought in my 33 1/3 vinyl of "A Night At The Opera". Shut them up pretty quick.

That album also had "You're My Best Friend"

Eventhough I fucking hate this song, "Sex and Candy" by Marcy's Playgroud takes me back to spring break '98. It was the first time me and my girlfriend, at the time, spent the weekend alone with out parents. She was obsessed with that song and wanted to fuck to it all weekend long. I don't think we left the hotel other than to buy food, papers and rubbers. My balls were licked clean that weekend. Yes they were.

Remember when La Semana was downtown? There was Poision and I think Dangerous Toys from Austin..

I got kicked out cause of some fight (I did not start) but purchased another ticket and came back. I do remember a very tall black SAPD officer kinda tried to throw me out again but I lost him in the crowd..

I think the was the last year they allowed it downtown..
