I know he is not a hooper or even a pro athlete ... but Phife probably has more sports focused lines than anyone ... and guys like Blake Griffin and Victor Cruz have been paying respect. I will do so here. Here are some of my favorite sports lines of his along with a couple of extras:

Bo knows this. Bo knows that. But Bo dont know jack ... cuz Bo can't rap.

"I'm skating on your crew, Like Mario Lemieux"

"coming with more hits than the Brave or the Yankees"

"here's a funny introduction to how nice I am ..."

"Im far from a bully, but I aint a punk"

They say the Tribe can't flow, be we have been known to the impossible like Broadway Joe, so"

"Bust a nut inside your eye ...to show you where I come from"

And of course ....

I like 'em brown, yellow, Puerto Rican or hatian ...name is Pfife Dawg from the Zulu nation ...

RIP to a member of of one the iconic rap groups from the golden age of hip-hop.

Absolutely my favorite Tribe song.

Damn. As a hip-hop fan, this is the biggest gut-punch since Guru passed away. It's too bad Q-Tip and Phife never buried the hatchet and started making music together again.

Absolutely my favorite Tribe song.

Yeah, that whole album was incredible, but Check the Rhime was a whole 'nother level. Damn the way Tip and Phife played off each other that whole track.

Absolutely my favorite Tribe song.
That was a good one, but I always liked "The Chase, Part II" the best.

And none of you young clowns come in here and talk about how Drake or Future or ASAP etc are better.
Only cats that even have a hope for a ATCQ type legacy is Cole and Kendrick and maybe Drake just because of the number of cross-over hits he has ...
These cats are up there with the best hip-hop groups like Outkast, THE Wu, NWA ....

Roll out the red carpet cause I'm kickin this

Where the hell can Nicki be? I'm gonna smack her up
I got the tickets for the Knicks and she cold stood me up
I need to hit a honey off, Jarobi pass the phone
Pulled out my book of hoes, oh yo, Sheila's home
Steady smiling like a mother yo I'm read' to bone
Went down on hon, she's in the red zone
Stressed out more than anyone could ever be
Forever tryin to clear the samples for my new LP
Everybody knows I go to Georgia often
Got on the flight and I ended up in Boston
With all these trials and tribulations, yo, I've been affected
And to top it off, Starks got ejected

You should. the jazz beats are timeless some of the other beats and some of the references will be a bit dated ... but great stuff. Been listening to the 2nd and 3rd albums since I heard the news.

You should see the Michael Rapaport documentary ...Beats rhymes & life. Great stuff including how he and Tip split. should be able to find on Netflix.

Related: I heard the doc just released on Netflix The art of Organized noise is really good with lots of insight to young Outkast and Goodie Mob. Always felt Outkast was the ATL version of Tribe. the film got a lot of praise at SxSW and other festivals.

I'll add groups (not listed) that dropped their first classic album in my lifetime (while I was out of diapers & in school): Pharcyde, Blackstar, Slum Village, Little Brother, Digable Planets, Madvillain, Goodie Mob, Talib/Hi-Tek, Pete Rock & CL, Fugees, Souls of Mischief, Naughty by Nature, Main Source

Groups that should be added: De La, Salt n Pepa, Gangstarr (there are other "party rap" or "gangsta" type groups but I'm not going to bother w/ those on ST:lol)

The original Busta (w/ dreads) was a character, Busta on roids (the current version) is a meathead.
