“We’re in danger of handing young people a situation that’s out of their control,” said James E. Hansen, the retired NASA climate scientist who led the new research."

You really should have followed the NY slimes article to the originating paper:

http://www.atmos-chem-phys.net/16/3761/2016/acp-16-3761-2016.pdf

If you understand the appropriate sciences, and history of said things, you would see they model this using RCP 8.5, which is a joke to begin with. Ever since such concepts of RCP numeric modeling was conceived, we have been following the lowest end of the lowest RCP scenario. RCP 8.5 is the highest. This article is and absolute joke, because it is next to impossible to start trending with the RCP 8.5 modelling.

Dr. Hansen has been predicting doom and gloom within decades for almost 40 years.

You would think that since he is retired, he would start reversing his public opinions. I don't really think he believes his own BS. I have read some exception work from him.

the alarmist approach to environmentalism undermines its effort in the long run, which is unfortunate. setting these "deadlines" just turn people off... "we will run out of fossil fuels by 2010", etc

So true.

So many people have completely turned away from everything they say, because they have been shown wrong on one thing.

They need to stop hyping the reality. They especially need to stop exaggerating the effects of CO2. If they would just be honest about the effects of CO2, and focus more yet on land use and aerosols, maybe they can get a larger audience back.

Sea level rise will affect beaches first....maybe then people will start to pay attention to climate change and quit listening to the nit-wits above....

...let's say that sea levels do rise.....huge population shifts....time to buy more properties......

Use to be, extreme Christians were the ones who said the world was going to end. Now, the environmentalists have stolen their schtick.
