Would be my pick for the pg prospect slot, the most glaring need in my mind. Maryland had a terrible second half of the season (coaching thing) that in turn has resulted in him and Diamond Stone dropping to the 20s. I think this kid has more upside that Payton III as a senior.

I definitely like him. Good choice for us, good shooter and good in catch and shoot. Apparently a strong athlete too. Young.
I'd like someone with more size and length though is my only pet peeve, so he can play as a SG at times, where we really have a surging need with Manu retiring. But you got to pick the best guard available then figure it out later.
(I don't think we'll survive with 3 small PG/SG + Danny once Manu retires and IMO, Simmons may or may not come through for us next season, so I'd like more of a combo guard than a strict small PG, but we may pick up a FA).

That combo guard is named Malcolm Brogdon. Check the link in the Brogdon thread. Perfect Spur.

29. San Antonio Spurs: Melo Trimble, G, Maryland

The Spurs need to start developing a young point guard, as Manu Ginobili and Andre Miller are about to retire, Patty Mills isn't a true point guard and Tony Parker is aging. I really like Trimble's game, as he is a scorer, shooter and strong play-maker. Trimble didn't have the best season, but the value and need is excellent.

Melo Trimble | Maryland | PG | 6-3 |190

A solid point guard who will not beat many people on athleticism but has 3-point range and leadership qualities. Trimble worked last season, as a sophomore, to show he is more than a scorer and provided with good results as the Terrapins went 27-9 and reached the Sweet 16. He has improved his decision making and ball handling after a 2014-15 with a poor assist-to-turnover ratio.

Definitely a perfect Spur. Which is why some other team will grab him before the Spurs does.

You are probably right, especially with Trimble, Blossomgame and a couple of other mid- to late first round picks opting to withdraw from the draft. I would love for the Spurs to make a package deal to move up and grab him. I could see him becoming a real team leader. This year or next, we are going to have a real leadership vacuum.

No Trimble will go in the second round not the first.

Well that's quite a swing.

Yes it is.
So, we can talk him up as both.

Hmm, last year that would have been Gary Payton, Jr. (Though I think Payton is a much better player than Trimble.)

I remember wanting him last year but for all the nonsense with the Terp program. He also fell off at the end of last season.

He's look good this year, but I suspect the Murray pick makes him unnecessary.
