Speaking as a Floridian, Rick Scott has been good for our state. He has recently been trying to woo Yale from Connecticut - never gonna happen but at least he's trying. His doughnut ad encouraging businesses to come to Florida is kinda corny though.

The medical Marijuana bill he signed: very good

The anti-abortion bill he signed: terrible

Scott oversaw the largest Medicare and/or Medicaid fraud EVER.

Just your typical nasty slave state Rep governor, with a legislature and judiciary to match. I'm sure and his Secy of State have careful plans for voter suppression and counting fraud in November.

the latest Scott shit, just one of many

Gov. Rick Scott's administration bills doctor for treating poor patients in state facility (http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/4/6/1510864/-Gov-Rick-Scott-s-administration-bills-doctor-for-treating-poor-patients-in-state-facility)

This is one of those things that, in Gov. Rick Scott's Florida, makes you tilt your head like a confused puppy. Let's say you're a Florida doctor, a heart specialist who spends one day a week in a state-run clinic treating poor children with heart conditions under the state's Children's Medical Services program. You're doing this because you're, well, a decent human being.
And then you get a letter from the state saying they're going to start billing you for the privilege of treating those kids (http://www.capitalnewyork.com/article/florida/2016/04/8595723/state-tells-critic-childrens-medical-services-pay-rent).

St. Petery initially thought a rental agreement sent to him by the chief operating officer for the Department of Health on March 31 was an early April Fool’s Day joke. But it wasn't. The DOH's Jennifer Tschetter sent him a contract asking him to pay $1,397 in rent annually if he were going to continue see children out of the state-owned CMS clinic in Tallahassee. It’s the same place St. Petery has been treating medically complex children with heart disease for last 40 years.

Did we mention that St. Petery is a fiery (public) critic of the Rick Scott administration's healthcare moves, and that as of yet he appears to be the only individual doctor in the state asked so far to pay this "rent" for the privilege of seeing impoverished kids at a state-run clinic?

Yeah. So that’s a bit odd.

Perhaps this is what Republicans mean when they say they want to run government (for poor kids with heart conditions) like a business?

LOL let's set aside the fact you give him credit for trying to lure an Ivy League school that has been in its current location for the past THREE HUNDRED YEARS and actually look at some Rick Scott highlights.

http://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/the-worst-governor-the-history-florida

This one talks about how he spent >$1,000,000 of tax payer money to defend himself, unsuccessfully, against a lawsuit claiming he and his attorney general were hiding communications related to the state.

http://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/floridas-rick-scott-signs-drastic-anti-abortion-measure-law

Here's one about his anti-abortion law.

http://swampland.time.com/2011/02/16/floridas-rick-scott-sends-high-speed-rail-packing/

Or how about that time he rejected $2.4 billion in federal aid for a project he once championed. Though to be fair, when he wanted to do this project the company leading the charge used to employ his chief of staff.

http://www.tampabay.com/news/politics/stateroundup/ousted-fdle-chief-raises-new-allegations-about-meddling-by-gov-rick-scott/2214084

That's just what's recent - at least he's trying to bring businesses here. Look, I like my state - 6% sales tax, no income tax, pensions in good shape, assessed property value capped at 3% increase per year and a full ride at universities like UF, UM, FSU, UCF for National Merit finalists. I am happy with the way the state is run - now, Miami-Dade county - that's whole other ball game.

Right I think everyone here knows all you care about is your bottom line. And some of those "positives" are not thanks to Rick Scott.

She uses the word "we" and then looks around for some confirmation.

Looks like a perfect opportunity to tell her to stfu and tell Rick to GTFO "you inflamer of mass hysteria"
Starbucks is quiet study time, neither Rick, or the sqauk box, followed protocol. Rick needs to stay in upper class places which strangely might be.... overpriced coffee houses for mill about housewives.

Life is strange.

Nahhh...
Its a very diverse State. Just don't ask for federal help when a hurricane levels your butt yet again. If you live there and can afford it, pay for your own get dem flattened house. You guys all need to pay astronomically high insurance rates, NO federal help for you.

I lived through Hurricane Andrew which totaled my rental house. Rebuilding was a nightmare - all the housing codes went sky high. I'll give you an example: I either had to knock out/widen/lower all the bedroom windows (so that people of all sizes could step out) or put on fire-proof bedroom rooms at the tune of $1k each. Wish I had sold the house as-is instead of the hassle of rebuilding. The traffic was terrible for 2 years as contractors from up north came down to rebuild the devastation. The remaining, intact houses went through the roof in price as there were so few of them. And yes, we have paid big time for home owner's insurance since then - no federal help.

My brother owned a Chinese restaurant, and when we cleared our street enough to get to it, we cooked everything in the freezer (electricity out, but thankfully, gas stoves) and handed out to our neighbors. Never seen a more grateful bunch of people for HOT meals. We went from house to house of our church members helping to clean up - ripping up carpets, moving appliances and wet furniture to the curb - what a mess.

:lol hurricane Andrew cost the Federal government billions.

Did I say it didn't? Just that none of that money came to me. On one hand, I'm being mocked that Scott (who wasn't even governor then) didn't do anything and on the other, that I better not expect the federal government to help me - which I don't and it didn't. I rebuilt on private insurance that I paid for and my own efforts.

What do you think that federal money was spent on? What if there was no federal money spent? How would that have affected you personally?

Whether federal or county money, I contributed to - via taxes. I was not personally affected as I didn't live in the hardest hit areas - outside of not having electricity, ac, eating fresh, cooked food, increased traffic and having to rebuild my rental (which as mentioned earlier, I should have just sold as is).

FL Guv Puts Out Video Attacking Random Woman Who Called Him 'As*hole'

Republican Florida Gov. Rick Scott's campaign slammed a woman who shouted him down in aStarbucks this week (http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/rick-scott-starbucks-youre-an-asshole-video) as an "anarchist" who refused to say the Pledge of Allegiance in a video released Friday.

"You may have seen this video of a terribly rude woman at a coffee shop cursing and screaming at Gov. Scott," a voiceover begins the video, which is dubbed "Latte Liberal Gets An Earful."

The woman, identified by local media (http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/news/state-regional/cara-jennings-lake-worth-activist-confronts-gov-sc/nqzWj/) as former Palm Beach County Commissioner Cara Jennings, shouted, "you're an asshole (http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/rick-scott-starbucks-youre-an-asshole-video)!" when Scott walked into a Gainesville, Florida Starbucks.

After cutting to Jennings questioning Scott's oft-repeated promise to create one million jobs, the voiceover continues: "Well, that woman clearly has a problem. And it turns out she’s a former government official who refused to say the Pledge of Allegiance and calls herself an anarchist."

After highlighting two enlarged images of Jennings' face, the video cuts to a map of the neighborhood around the Starbucks to highlight jobs created in the area.

The video ends with a voiceover concluding "almost everybody" has a job, "except those who are sitting around coffee shops, demanding public assistance, surfing the internet, and cursing at customers."

Jennings isn't running for office, but the video quickly went viral (http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/rick-scott-starbucks-youre-an-asshole-video) after it was posted online earlier this week.

I don't want federal help so I live away from Eartquakes and Hurricanes. You could not get private insurance by itself on your coastline. Actually all insurance has some State and federal regulation. But Florida is a live at your own risk type of place IMO.

We helped a hell of a lot of Katrina people here. Some of the nicest as well as devious people I have met.

Any thoughts on your governor spending money on an attack ad aimed at a constituent?

Or how about a response to this:

http://www.politifact.com/florida/statements/2014/mar/03/florida-democratic-party/rick-scott-rick-scott-oversaw-largest-medicare-fra/

Scott started what was first Columbia in 1987, purchasing two El Paso, Texas, hospitals. Over the next decade he would add hundreds of hospitals, surgery centers and home health locations. In 1994, Scott’s Columbia purchased Tennessee-headquartered HCA and its 100 hospitals, and merged the companies.

In 1997, federal agents went public with an investigation into the company, first seizing records from four El Paso-area hospitals and then expanding across the country. The investigation focused on whether Columbia/HCA had committed Medicare and Medicaid fraud.

During his 2010 race, the Miami Herald reported that Scott had said he would have immediately stopped his company from committing fraud -- if only "somebody told me something was wrong." But there were such warnings in the company’s annual public reports to stockholders -- which Scott had to sign as president and CEO.

Completely forgot to link to this whopper. You guys remember this story right? A large number of infants died at a florida hospital due to lack of safety and quality standards. Safety and quality standards that had been deregulated by Rick Scott, suspiciously after he received donations from the owners of said hospital.

http://www.cnn.com/2016/01/13/health/florida-hospital-standards-republican-gifts/

Do you think patients of that hospital (and others) share your opinion of Gov. Scott?
