He's actually fallen off a bit recently. Wouldn't be surprised if Lebron, Durant, and/or Draymond get in above him.

i told you Pop rest (and then quad injury) will disrupt his rhythm..he was ending the season on a tear before that..might cost him both DPOY and all NBA 1st team :pctoss

Meh, I don't think it's crazy to put both LeBron and KD over him this season. All 3 of those guys have been ridiculous this season. I personally think LeBron is the one who should be 1st team without a doubt, and the 2nd spot is a toss-up between Kawhi/KD.

:lol You can tell he immediately regrets that decision.

So it only has to be 2 forwards without SF/PF distinction?

Actually, he was already starting to slow down a bit even before the quad injury. In March, he was shooting "only" 37% from 3 before he injured his quad and missed 3 games. Since then Pop has only rested him once for the Denver game, which I think is reasonable considering Denver is a tough place to play and they had just played GS the night before.

Blaming Pop for Kawhi falling off a little towards the end of the season seems pretty ridiculous to me. For all we know his quad was actually causing legitimate problems and they wanted to make sure it wouldn't be an issue going forward. Since then he's played in 6 of 7 games (assuming he plays tonight, which it sounds like he will) with the only exception being the game in Denver on a b2b. That's not unreasonable.

Kawhi 33 mpg in the season.

When media guys say is a hard decision to choose between LeBron, Kawhi and KD this season, and look for other factors to base their decisions, the minutes in the season could be one...KD plays 3 minutes more than Kawhi per game, LeBron two more...and Kawhi is younger than both.

As Spurs fan we don't think that can make any difference, but media guys are taking the smallest details into account. It's pretty obvious that Pop's strategy of treating Kawhi like he's 30-40 years old will affect his numbers and media consideration.

Oh well if you're talking about the course of the entire season then yeah, I agree that his lack of minutes will hurt him when compared to guys like LeBron/KD.

But I'm pretty sure spursistan was just referring to the past month or so and blaming Pop for disrupting his rhythm and him slowing down compared to what he was doing earlier on. I disagree with that notion.

Anyway, I find pretty amazing that these guys are saying "is impossible" to them to pick between the best player of his generation, the 2nd best, and Kawhi. That shows Kawhi's level and improvement.

Just 24 years old. Can't wait for the next seasons...:claw

Narratives play a major role in this since most national media aren't as knowledgeable as someone like Lowe.

The narrative with the Spurs, is that their near historic season is almost all thanks to Pop and Leonard. The narrative with the Thunder, is that they still struggle to close games and that Westbrook is now Durant's equal or superior.

Here's how I suspect it ends up . . .

1st team: F - James, Leonard, C - Green, G - Curry, Westbrook

2nd team: F - Durant, Millsap, C - Jordan, G - Paul, Lowry

3rd team: F - Thompson, George, C - Aldridge, G - Harden, Lillard

Lowe said that they're allowed to list Green as a C, which means I'm sure they'll be able to do the same with Thompson as an F and Aldridge as a C.

Another fucking thread about you. What you will do if Kawhi doesn't get recognized. There are already discussions about Kawhi and awards, but every time you fart you think it needs its own thread. So you make one that's a thread title, and a mad emote that doesn't work. Fucking brilliant.

At least you're the leader for Attention Whore Of The Year.
