Looks like there's a great chance we end up playing Memphis. That's good.

We are playing the grizzlies for sure. They won't beat the warriors at the oracle in the last game of the season when GS is trying to beat Chicago record. Plus they need Dallas to lose to a likely shorthanded spurs team. Virtually impossible.

The Grizzlies are a good team for the first round. They are injury ridden, no Gasol, no Conley, and they don't have an outside threat, so Kawhi can focus all his energies on the offensive side. 4-0.

Spurs lucky this time! First round should be good practice.

Hope the Mavs beat the Thunder so its an easier 2nd round!

Best scenario is Rockets beat the Dubs making it an easy WCF for the Spurs.

Good thing is that the Spurs can choose to play Memphis if they want to.

Dallas has the tie breaker with Memphis so only way Spurs don't get Memphis is if Spurs lose to Dallas and Memphis amazingly beats the Dubs at home which isn't gonna happen.

Other way. The Spurs have to beat Dallas while the Grizz take out GS for SA to not play Memphis.

Spurs-Grizz is a virtual lock, tbh..Grizzlies are 17.5 underdogs vs. the Warriors, they aren't winning that game when Golden State is trying to win #73..

Looks like it's going to be:

Warriors-Rockets
Spurs-Grizz
Thunder-Mavs
Clippers-Blazers

Pretty nice draw for the Spurs, all things considered..complete opposite of last year:lol

Spurs are one GSW injury away from making it to the finals!!! One Horry hip-check special is all that is needed!

Weird how 3 of the 4 pairings are recent WCF matches. Warriors/Rockets last year, Spurs/Grizz in 2013, Thunder/Mavs in 2011. Only Clippers/Blazers doesn't have a huge amount of history.

Spurs are playing Memphis. Dallas beating the Jazz sealed it. That is why I wanted them to win. Grizz will lose tonight, so it doesn't matter if the Spurs win or lose, Memphis is going to get the 7th. Spurs get the easiest 1st round opponent out West.

And for those of you said, well, the Spurs beat Dallas win they won the title, yeah, they played the Blazers in the 2nd round and then played OKC. This year, it looks like the Spurs will have to beat OKC and GS. They need at least one easy series, so they can be rested for those dogfights.

As pointed out the Spurs actually get Memphis is they lose to Dallas, that's why I was saying they can choose to play Memphis as they can always chose to lose. And in this case I feel it would be stupid not to. The Lakers have beaten GSW and the Memphis-GSW game a few days go was decided by one point IIRC, so I have no faith in seeing other teams decide our playoffs scenarios.

Griz is a good thing for LaMarcus too. He seems to need to take care of that finger.
With the Griz he can focus more in getting healthier seems he won't be needed that much.

Yes. Because Dirk might want one last hurrah and Durant/Westbrook are making other plans for the future. As well, OKC's system is not a system; it's Durant and Westbrook go win the game.

Hell, I'm all for it. Maybe Wes Matthews can go Vince Carter from 3 pt land. He was a good 3pt shooter at Portland, haven't heard much from him this season. Maybe the achilles injury got to him.

All of what you said. Plus Carlise is very experienced, while the OKC coaching staff is new to the playoffs and the adjustments that happen.

There's hope but the Thunder did sweep the Mavs this year.

Kinda feel like a Mavs matchup would help get these guys more focused/sharp as they need to be. Playing a short handed Grizzlies team, idk...I hope they don't develop any bad tendencies

I'd expect Pop to work on avoiding bad tendencies.

About the Mavs, I doubt they'll win more than 1 game. Like Carlisle but they are out-talented there.

Yea for sure. I think the Mavs would be at most a 6 game series.. But like our last title run, we were challenged mentally in that 7 game series. It really got our attention early. So it's like going from a depleted Grizzlies team, to a team like OKC in round 2, it's a big difference. Just don't want them to get complacent and really be ready mentally after that series.

That's a good point. Do you really want a pushover in round 1 only to get avalanched in rounds 2 or 3?

The difference is, in '14, there was a Conference-Quarters caliber opponent awaiting them in the Conference-Semis. This time, they'll be a Conference-Finals caliber opponent awaiting them in the Conference-Semis.

Struggle in the Conference-Quarters and it could have a cumulative effect on the Conference-Semis or if/when, Conference-Finals.

If if we get avalanched in round 2 then we just aren't good enough, tbh. I'd prefer a sweep and rest.

For our purposes we play the grizz of the mavs win or grizz lose. Blazers wise, not sure what their playoff situation is.

Mavs can still get the 5th seed. They need a win and a blazer loss

The Rockets have the same roster as last season plus a healthy Patrick Beverley & D-Mo plus Beasley/KJ. Their first 3 meeting were before the ASG break when the Rockets were playing like shyt. Dwight has also shown in the postseason in a Rockets uniform.

If Curry has a bad shooting night & Harden goes off at home then it will most likely be a Rockets victory just like their playoff series from last season. (The Rockets also had a chance to win Gm 2 last season but Harden couldn't get off a shot:lol)

Even if Dirk goes nuclear he's going to be leaking points.:lol (He is also shooting 40% in April)

OKC swept the Mavs in 2012 when they were the defending champs & Dirk was going nuclear.:lol
