I have zero confidence in this team after they scored 5 POINTS in the 3rd quarter, blowing a 26 POINT LEAD and losing BY 10.

But yeah, Heat in 7.

Miami is probably the most inconsistent and unpredictable team in the playoffs, tbh..

They look like a contender for an entire week, then follow it up with looking like a lottery team in the subsequent week..

Hornets in 6 but it wouldn't surprise me if it goes to 7 games. I have seen all 4 games this season of Hornets vs Heat but feel the Hornets have a more balanced attack on the offensive end that will allow them to prevail.

Boston deserved Charlotte in the first after being really good this year and having had to face Cle in the first round last year. Plus, Miami only having to win one series to spar with Cle was optimal. D-Wade vs. LBJ would've been nice.

The Hornets remind me of the pre-Rose/Noah when they had Deng, Ben Gordon, Captain Kirk, Nocioni, Thabo & a declining vet in Ben Wallace.

Kemba has to play like 2009 Ben Jordan for the Hornets to win: (The 2007 Bulls lost to the Pistons who are kind of like the current Heat)

MIAMI -- Chris Bosh will play a role for the Miami Heat in the playoffs, though it will be one that doesn't include returning to the court.

The All-Star forward gave an emotional address to his teammates before their first practice of this postseason Friday. He spoke about what playoff time means to him and how it pains him to be unable to play right now.

Al Jefferson is a career loser that arguably puts up empty numbers, but he has owned the Heat throughout his career IIRC..Whiteside struggles to defend post scorers, too, could be something to exploit for Charlotte(although Jefferson is better off as the #1 bench guy, since he kills any type of team-oriented offense)..

Big Al/Whiteside are better off coming off the bench, tbh.:lol

Whiteside clogs the paint & shrinks the floor so Wade/Dragic can't drive (he doesn't like rolling to the rim:lol) meanwhile Big Al takes the ball out of Batum/Kemba's hands. Big Al did school Whiteside when they were both coming off the bench a couple of weeks ago.

DPG21920
04-17-2016, 04:38 PM
Like Zach Lowe said, Batum being gimpy is what gives me pause. Plus when MIA plays well, they are definitely better. The one thing to watch for me will be can Whiteside effectively defend CHA when he's in? CHA shoots a ton of 3's and relies heavily on that.

Whiteside, because of him chasing blocks, has been very hesitant to close out to the 3PT line. That could be a big time issue if he continues that bad habit.

Heat once again showcasing one of the most potent offenses since the ASB. But our defense has really regressed. That and a favorable Charlotte whistle are the only reasons we're not up 15 or more right now.

Marvin Williams has completely shit the bed. Completely. Charlotte is built on 3's and they are 1 for 14 today. CHA has 12 more shots than MIA, has only turned it over 4 times & has 10 more FT's than MIA and is down 15?

D-Wade
04-20-2016, 08:39 PM

In my opinion that the refs can only do so much... That's why I rarely complain about them. There was a free-throw discrepancy even in Miami that favored the Hornets but it didn't matter because we showed up. But we're a fragile team on the road and it made all the difference tonight.

It is amazing how Steve Clifford impressive coaching job has gone under the radar this season..as Apa said in the other thread, mainstream media has fallen in love with Brad Stevens to point of him getting overrated...Clifford successfully reconfigured their entire offense/style over summer while integrating new other pieces ..if not for Batum//Big Al injuries they would have had shot at 2nd seed in the East..

Impressive showing by the hornets. If they can win in games where their main penetrator are struggling to score, they are going to be a tough out. Toronto is going to struggle against this team. 50/50 between raps and beez imo.

The Raptors bench can't bail out DeRozan/Lowry b/c the Hornets themselves have a top bench unit. Al Jefferson would also torch Jonas along w/ Lin/Kemba on PnRs.

Not really. Hornets/Miami/Boston/Hawks/Pacers/Detroit would lose to the Spurs in 4. Toronto may get to 5. Cleveland could possibly push us to 6 with ref help. They suck just like usual.

Being competitive within a group of bad teams doesn't mean better.

They are all bad, the West just have two much better teams, including one historically great team, that dwarfs everybody else.

Pre-injury, GSW, Spurs, OKC, and Clippers are clearly better than all the teams in the East, except maybe the Cavs (and I am being generous here). Blazers are at least on par with the 2-seed in the East, Rockets and Mavs are better than half the East playoff teams.

Money wasn't the reason why he let them go. Diaw was released because at that time he didn't care about basketball and had ballooned over 300 pounds. Diaw being super out of shape was the reason why the Spurs were able to get him since the rest of the league thought he was finished. MJ got rid of Jax to create cap space in hopes of getting a super free agent but obviously that didn't work out.

This was a very divisive series here on ST with a lot of people picking the Hornets & just as many picking the Heat but not feeling comfortable about it.

That literally makes no sense. The Spurs have made it to the 2nd round in 15 of the last 19 years and won 50 games every year in a conference that has been better than the East for a long time. TOR just won 50 games and has not made it out of the first round.

SA has literally never been TOR in the past 19 years.

So getting to the 2nd round is your barometer for a non fluky 50+ win season? Pretty low standards for what should be a title contender w/ that record.

San Antonio didn't do shit with those 50 win seasons for half a decade, lost in the first round to the Mavs, got swept by the Suns, got beat by the 8th seed Grizzlies, got backdoor swept by the Thunder (who got demolished by the Heat), and you're still trying to act like they were a true title contender during those years?

Style make fights: The Heat matchup w/ the Cavs especially if they had Bosh.

-Deng/Winslow can handle LeBrick
-Bosh can guard Love on the perimeter
-Whiteside can keep Tristan off the offensive boards & deter LeBron from driving into the paint
-Kyrie can't guard either Dragic or Wade so the Cavs can't hide him on defense

Now, they essentially swapped Bosh w/ Joe Johnson which means they have no one to match-up w/ Love. The Heat could try attacking Love on the other end w/ Deng/JJ but the Cavs could just play him at center & force Whiteside out of the game.

Bruh I know you're ESL, so I'll explain this slowly.

The Raptors and Hawks (last year) both put up 50 win seasons. DPG says their records are "fluky". I'm taking that to mean in context of vastly overachieving. A team with 50+ wins should be a title contender. They aren't.

I'm applying this same logic to the Spurs' 50 win seasons between 2008 and 2012. The Spurs should have been title contenders during that period. They obviously weren't looking at their playoff performance.

Hornets are fun and well coached. Lin is a legitimately good guard and causes folks problems. Houston fans are blind to just make fun of the guy. While their selfish team is mired in the muck. KW is also a stud.

He cuts well, he has size and speed, and has a good dribble drive game to the rim.

Is he flawed? Sure. Totally. He still has that habit of losing his way, jumping and having nowhere to go. But he also has the ability to really get hot with his shot.

Basically, he's a good/solid bench guard with the expected inconsistencies. Not every team can have a Manu off the bench.

Yeah that's just salty nonsense from you. In this playoff series Lin has mattered. The "DeRozan of point guards" doesn't follow. I like Cojo. He's a different type of guard who is less explosive and capable on offense, but is more careful with the ball and a better defender.

Bruh, Lin has feasted on Whiteside who is getting benched for the corpse of Haslem b/c of his terrible PnR D. In the regular season, Lin wasn't better than the likes of Jerryd Bayless & was inferior to JJ Barea.

Shouldn't it be easier to play Bosh and Whiteside together than Splitter and Duncan though? Pop managed to do that.
