Kobe is one of the last of the previous generation along with Dirk, Tim and KG Pierce.

When he started 0-for-4 or 0-for-5 or whatever it was, it seemed very foreseeable that he would go something like 7-for-33 and look pathetic in the process. Looked like the Lakers were going to score single digits in the first quarter. He actually hit several shots that did bring back flashes of a younger him. And in the second half, his legs still seemed to be somewhat there considering his age and mileage. Of course, he wasn't defending or getting back, so it's not like he was going hard for 42 minutes. But credit to him for as bad as he's been for the better part of 5+ years, even 22-for-50 is somewhat of anomaly. I'm used to reading boxscores where he shot 35% or less from the field. And even more so, for most of the game, I believe he was over (maybe even well over) 50% from two point range. It was all those three pointers he was taking and missing that really hurt the efficiency. No surprise as he's become heavily dependent on jumpshooting with his age and injuries and lack of quickness or explosion. And in the fourth quarter, I believe he was surprisingly extremely efficient. I think he ended the game 5-for-his-last-5 scoring 15 of the final 17 points for the Lakers.
Obviously, the game meant nothing, big picture, for either team. It was a glorified exhibition game. But even then, it was a close game late and Kobe still had to make those shots he took late in the game to help them win, with his 20 year NBA worn body, 37 year old legs, on 40+ minutes. So it was still kind of a spectacle in that regard. It was fun to watch. Yeah, I'm a Kobe fanboi. And when the Golden State game was pretty much a 20 point lead through most of the 4th quarter, I ended up watching the Lakers most of the 4th quarter. For all his faults, and all things considered as to how things have gone for the team this season and really the last 5 or so seasons, it was a cool way to end things.

That's fucking hilarious. 24.994ppg gets rounded to 25ppg in the history books. Take away this 60 point game and replace it with a single digit game his career averaged may have been rounded down to 24.9 instead of 25. He knew exactly how many points he needed to maintain 25.0ppg lol. I have no doubt that was in his mind. Funny stuff and very entertaining just like the last 4 or so Laker seasons have been. :lol

If he played last night and scored zero points, his career average is still 24.95 PPG. Still gets rounded up to 25.0 PPG. He didn't need to score a point to have his points per game rounded up to 25.

The conspiracy is more entertaining than the reality my 10 year old can do the basic math. i do think Kobe was hoping for a magical or epic ending in fact i believe his camera crew from his production company and NBATV were both documenting that in full ...so of course he wanted to do well and was hoping for a Kobe is the ultimate closer type finish ... but to think he planned to get 60 to round up his number (seriously 60 points when weighed against his career numbers is really not moving the needle all that much) or the Jazz were in cahoots etc. Is just stupid. I thnk people care more about this shit than Kobe does tbh.

Courtesy of Kobe.
I know your favorite target is now out of the league ...but Amb seriously you cant let Kobe or Lakers fans have a moment in a shitty season from a meaningless game? Did Kobe secretly bang your girlfriend?
There are multiple issues with this.
First, the Lakers season is a direct result of Kobe's chucking, he created this mess, and now he is being celebrated for creating this mess because there is nothing else to celebrate about. That's screwed up.
Second, it's not about celebrating it or not, it's about a bunch of hypocrites, who have for years, preach about championship or bust, go out and celebrate a totally meaningless game like you have won 7 in a row. If some random guy comes in and start raving about how great that game was, sure, but for these bunch of hypocrites to do something they preached on NOT doing for years? No.
The war is over. I gave you Duncan over Kobe, ESPN, SI, have done it too ... your work is done, friend (thanks Deeps). you will never convert Luva or Kool so what is the point? Kobe is done.
I am not converting Luva or Kool because they are just trolls. I am sure deep down inside, a vast majority of people ranks Duncan over Kobe, it's just obvious. There may be a few people someone in the world, mumbling to themselves in a street corner about how Kobe > Duncan, and how Phantom Menace is actually the greatest Star Wars movie, but I would be surprised if not a vast majority of logical, reasonable and radical people would rank Duncan > Kobe.
That though, is not my point, my point isn't to say Duncan > Kobe, it's to strike down points that are not accurate.

Hey dumbass lets go back to 1st grade...
24.994
Decimal point moves from right to left
4 remains the same
9 remains the same
9 moves to left or "carried"
.9 + 4 = 5
Equation solution = 2 + 5 = 25

:lolyou still don't get it...I don't even think the Ludovico technique could pry open your slope eyes open on this one. The thread is called "Sixty Points," and is simply an appreciation thread for a fun performance that gave NBA fans exactly what they wanted. You just can't stand the thought of showing Kobe any kind of credit, and now that he's retired you have no reason to keep your yellow juices flowing.
You're out of your only source of posting fuel, so it's back to the rice paddies for you, victor charlie

The fact that there is a thread on this speaks volumes about why this is so laughable.

Yeah, you are right, I do have work. That said, Curry is killing us all, no way the Spurs ring this year.

Everyone remembers the great Duncan/Shaq battles. And each of them had their 2nd fiddle guards.

You still dont get it nothing about last night changes the lakers shitty present or shaky future. It was showing respect to a once great player on his last legs putting on a show for the fans. You are not a fan so it wasnt for you ... But Again why do you care if Kobe ruined a shitty team?

Courtesy of Kobe.
No.
He was not celebrated for creating a mess but for past services rendered. Same as the 48.5 million. You did not contribute one dime to either so get off your freaking high horse and get over it. He has a good finish to a bad game. he scored 60. took him 50 but he did it his way like Sinatra. Why dont you focus on the playoffs ... kobe is done. He just wanted to piss in you and your haters cornflakes one last time as he was on his way out the door.

:cry "People wanted to see Kobe score a lot!" :cry
:lol People also "want" another season of The Real World, Nickelback albums, and Michael Bay movies. Just because people have shitty taste does not mean the things they like or want are any good. A homeless man's Jamal Crawford chucking 50 shots on a lottery team is still a homeless man's Jamal Crawford chucking 50 shots on a lottery team regardless of how many mouthbreathers wanted to see it.

I was taking my boy to daycare this morning and heard on NPR that Kobe scored 60 in his farewell game and thought maybe he put on a show. Then they mentioned he took 50 shots and I just laughed and shook my head.

04-14-2016, 04:03 PM
What else did you expect him to do just shoot a few shots? I thought it was great, and he gave the crowd a show for as much as those tickets cost. Didn't think he could score that much on even that many shots, but a good way for him to go out. Alot of the shots looked like some of the stuff he did 10 years ago, it was a flashback tbh. I appreciate him for how hardcore people view him one way or the other. Spurstalk would have been a boring place without Kobe's up's and downs over the years. There isn't really any good Spurs/Lakers type of rivalry anymore. Maybe Spurs/Warriors can develop like that if we do anything in the post season.

:lol spurs fans sometimes...smh
Why not saying something like hats off old man and move on ? I mean game was anyway meaningless, he scored 60 pts, dat was entertaining as shit and a very nice note to end his career.
The rest is history, Kobe will disappear on top 10 soon enough, the worst Lakers season will remain, the .352 FG% will stay ... but he will have this game that will be remembered... good for him tbh
Eh?

If you think about it this is basically laker fans peak moment for the last 4 years. Think about that for a second, a guy scoring 60 in a reg season game is the best thing that's happened to them ever since dwight took his jersey elsewhere. That was a good performance but it shows what an absolute joke this franchise has been.

No, it confirms the entire me first attitude. It's his entire career wrapped up in one night.
He said he didn't care what others think of him? He cares enough to jack up shit after shot for individual glory.
He freezes out teammates to chuck and chuck.
There's no regard for winning or losing.

I didn't contribute to anything, but he is playing basketball in a way that is opposite to the way it should be played. It's pathetic.

Entertaining closure to a pretty nifty era for us Laker fans. But what will the hick Spurs fans commit a million threads to now that Bean is gone? Oblivion awaits when Jim Duncan hangs it up. This is truly a trip these past 2 days.

35.8% FG%
28.5% 3ptFG%
Those are bad numbers for one game, but it's what Kobe averaged for an entire season.

20 seasons, torn achilles. Most minutes played among active NBA players, 37 years old...You get it, don't you?

That's fucking hilarious. 24.994ppg gets rounded to 25ppg in the history books. Take away this 60 point game and replace it with a single digit game his career averaged may have been rounded down to 24.9 instead of 25. He knew exactly how many points he needed to maintain 25.0ppg lol. I have no doubt that was in his mind. Funny stuff and very entertaining just like the last 4 or so Laker seasons have been. :lol
Learn do to basic math ya fag. 24.945 gets rounded up to 25. He had it locked with 1-2 games to go

What? If an aging star making beyond max money wants to play a season and put up historically bad percentages while your franchise wins 17 games, it's acceptable because he helped you in the past? Sure, I get that. I just don't agree with it.

He was a gunner, scores 59 points as his career high. I think he scored in the high 50s vs the Spurs in that game where he jacked those shots. Proving that as long as you gun you get a lot of points for anyone in the league.
That said, it was in the days where scores wee 140 to 133 instead of today's game scores so jacking up 37 shots is somewhat understandable.

Then he should've retired earlier and let the lakers rebuild and develop their young instead of putting himself above the team. You get it, don't you?

Probably one of the most (if not the most) selfish things ever done in the NBA. Someone who's made so much money through salary and endorsements. Won't take less $ or just retire. Taking down one of the most storied franchises in sports.

Not sure why you like Kobe so much, Horacio. He's going to build the wall on our southern border with his bricks, and then you won't be able to sneak back in after you're deported. :downspin:
