it is a possibility, tbh...Spurs offensive troubles in this matchup are pretty alarming.

Bad omen: the last 60+ win team to get swept by another +60 win team was the 1996 Magic (60-22) by 1996 Bulls (72-10) :cry

No shit Sherlock.

No shame in losing to a 73 win team that has pretty much every position a matchup advantage vs you.

No shame at all.

If spurs can get to WCFs and win two games vs worriers. I'll be a happy camper.

The sonics won 64 games and lost in 6 to the bulls. You guys are reaching in the sense that when it comes to nba history no team that has won 64 plus games has ever been swept. I don't see the spurs making that type of history.

Spurs are basically a 70 win team, considering they coasted to end the regular season.

With that kind of dominance in a season, I still wonder if the league has become that top heavy, or the Spurs are just unlucky that they have such a good team and will likely get outmatched by a 6'3" PG who just has too much range.

Spurs in 6. I've already run the statistics and metric analysis.

There is also a 42% probability that LAC takes out the Warriors. So we might be looking at a rematch from last season.

It would suck, but I'm prepared for it. The Warriors are far past the point I thought they would start breaking down. Jump-shooting teams simply don't last like this. They've made a deal with the devil and there's nothing to be done. My question is how many games they actually lose in the POs.

The only other team to accomplish both of those were the #1 seed in the east and won the NBA title. (Celtics)

So if we're basically the 86 Celtics, one of the greatest teams of all time, YET we have a better point differential and defense than they did (I think, haven't confirmed this) I think we should be confident. Not overly so - that's a fantastic Warriors team - but they are NOT invincible.

If you are going to go that route then they are more similar to the '92 Bulls as that might have been their ACTUAL best squad (rather than '96) since Jordan was at his PEAK. Plus, Jordan/Pippen/Horace are more comparable to Curry/Klay/Draymond than Shaq/Kobe along w/ being a small team w/ dominant perimeter players like the Duds.

A lot of the analysts over at ESPN, NBA.com and CBS Sports have the spurs not even making the WCF, they all think it's OKC/Warriors so OKC would get 2001nd by the warriors.

Vito Corleone

No one thought the New York Giants had a chance against the undefeated New England Patriots, but they won.

No one thought the Detroit Pistons had a chance against the 2004 LA Lakers with 4 HOF starters.

No one thought 8th seed Denver Nuggets had a chance against the 1st seed Seattle Supersonics in 94

San Antonio is old, but SA is smart, and deep and the best defensive team in the NBA, by a long shot. More importantly, SA is built for the playoffs and GSW is not.

Yeah a 67 win team is going to get swept. Something that has never happened before in NBA history.

No one has ever gone against a 73 in team either.

UZER
04-17-2016, 08:28 AM
Been saying it all year, I'm not as scared of the Warriors as other people are. Yes they are phenomenal, but I want to see them deal with real playoff pressure going against a team that is disciplined to ball out for 48 minutes of every game.

Sure they have the better weapons, but the Spurs are like a veteran boxer that's taking your best punches and still punching back strategically to land but also take you to deep waters into the late rounds. If the Warriors can still beat them, then I tip my cap. Until then, I've still got my reservations.

Now, Warriorefs is the gorilla in the room.

daslicer

No one has ever gone against a 73 in team either.

Right and you honestly believe the Spurs are going to get swept? I just don't see that happening because again I will go with historic odds and repeat what I said which is "No team in NBA history that has won 64 plus games has ever been swept." I can't see the spurs making that type of history. Teams that get swept usually don't have a competitive spirit or the talent to compete. Spurs have both of these things in spades so I don't see the Warriors sweeping. If the Spurs lose it will be in 6 or 7.

04-17-2016, 03:35 PM
Everyone thought that was gonna be a classic series.I still remember watching awful NBA2nite show host by Fred Carter and he said "This series destined for 7 games", but a lot of people felt that way, including Spurs fans. The Spurs were playing great basketball entering that series.

Referring to 2001 WCF bloodbath.
