It could be anything from pop to heavy metal. What are some of your favorite parts of 80's? Albums or songs.

the 80's was a big "one hit wonder" decade. Lots of good songs, not too many good albums.

Too many to list and the 80's were a blurr for me.

I broke through to the other side too many times.

ha ha ha ha the song from Karate kid part 2.....

My child is going to be conceived to that song. It's starting to piss my girlfriend off though. Everytime we get going, I got to stop and put the cd in and put that song on repeat. It kind of kills the mood but in the end it will be worth it.

While Genesis had hits in the 80s, they really aren't an 80s band. They've been around since the early 70s. Trick Of The Tail is an awesome album!

Possibly my fave 80's song...either that or "Send Me an Angel". Or "What I Am" from Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians. Or "American Soviets". Or "So Alive" from Love and Rockets. Or "New York, New York". Or "Mexican Radio" from Wall of Voodoo.

DIRE STRAITS!

"I want my.....I want my MTV" Money for Nothing.

Thats when MTV used to play music. Now they should change their name to
RTV Reality Tele-vision.

MTV is what made the 80's music awsome. It wasn't just the radio or albums or what the style was.MTV took everything to a new level.

My favorite 80's MTV video was ..... Twisted Sister's "We're not gonna take it"
and ofcourse David Lee Roth's "California Girls".

Sorry guys. Some of your choices are gay. I miss all that good ole 80s southern rock. It really takes me back.

:music :music :music

And my mind goes back to a girl I left some years ago,
Who told me,
Just Hold On Loosely, but don't let go
If you cling to tightly,
you're gonna lose control
Your baby needs someone to believe in
And a whole lot of space to breathe in

It's so damn easy, when your feelings are such
To overprotect her, to love her too much
And my mind goes back to a girl I left some years ago
Who told me,
Just Hold On Loosely, but don't let go
If you cling too tight babe,
you're gonna loose control
Your baby needs someone to believe in
And a whole lot of space to breathe in

Don't let her slip away
Sentimental fool
Don't let your heart get in her way
yeah, yeah, yeah,

The entire Brothers in Arms album is an 80s classic.

Genesis had been around since the 70s but they turned into the perfect 80s power whine band with Phil at the helm. Their string of 80s albums - Duke, Abacab, Genesis and Invisible Touch were about as strong a group as anyone put together that decade.

Other albums I like from then:

Crowded House - Temple of Low Men
Public Enemy - It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back
U2 - The Unforgettable Fire
Talking Heads - Remain in Light
Split Enz - Time and Tide
Joy Division - Closer
Rush - Tom Sawyer
Stan Ridgway - Mosquitos
Wall of Voodo - Dark Continent
Prince - Purple Rain

And so many more....

Come on, the 80s were all about Madonna "You may be my lucky star, but I'm the luckiest by far..." I spent my kid years 1 foot from the tv completely spellbound. This was the good time for Michael Jackson too (good lookin phase) Billie Jean, Way You Make Me Feel, and The Girl is Mine! Yea!

Steely Dan could count too (1980), at least for some of what I liked by them.. Hey Nineteen, Babylon Sisters. Most people think of them from the 70s though.

I'm glad someone remembered them.

Here is another addition: Mike Oldfield
Although most of his albums are instrumental (and he is not exactly 80's) he had some hit songs also: "Moonlight Shadow","Foreign Affair", "Shadow on the wall", "To France",...
(Most of that can be found on album of greatest hits entitled "Elements");

And for everyone who likes ambiental music, you should really check out albums "Voyager" and "The Songs of Distant Earth"
