View Full Version : How the Tiger Woods' obsession with the Navy Seals ruined his golf career

Then there's the story of the lunch, which spread throughout the Naval Special Warfare community. Guys still tell it, almost a decade later. Tiger and a group of five or six went to a diner in La Posta. The waitress brought the check and the table went silent, according to two people there that day. Nobody said anything and neither did Tiger, and the other guys sort of looked at one another.

Finally one of the SEALs said, "Separate checks, please."

The waitress walked away.

"We are all baffled," says one SEAL, a veteran of numerous combat deployments. "We are sitting there with Tiger f---ing Woods, who probably makes more than all of us combined in a day. He's shooting our ammo, taking our time. He's a weird f---ing guy. That's weird s---. Something's wrong with you."

Not signing a prenup and losing half his shit to his gold digger wife ruined his career.

Not that Woods couldn't afford to pay, or even expected it. But I don't get why we should get behind those guys feeling entitled to a free lunch. The ammo part I can totally understand, but that's not the part they decided to emphasize. And the fact that they're soldiers doesn't help their case at all.

Yeah...from the story, there isn't much to indicate that he should have picked up the check. I mean...it would have been a decent and cool thing to do but they shouldn't have expected it. Unless he was the one that asked them all to dinner. And it's not like they paid for the ammo.

My point is at this stage of that career if he never hit another golf ball his legend/iconic status is intact. Now it's just gravy time. To think anything can be ruined after all he's done, nay?

You do understand the word, career.....right?

O.J.Simpson couldn't outrun defensive linemen at the end, Joe Namath could handly walk, both in the Hall of Fame.

Golf tournaments were huge when he was playing with viewership. Nowadays we has Jason day, spieth, etc... but it will not bring in the ratings that tiger did. I don't think we will ever see a player like tiger woods again.

The rating will never be the same, but you are already seeing players as good as Woods now. It doesn't seem like it because the top 20 guys on tour elevated their games to Tiger Woods like levels. This new generation drives it longer, has more creative short games, and putt better. I actually enjoy this crop of guy more than the Tiger era, the leader boards week in week out have been fantastic.

There's still a significant gap between a fantastic career and a goat career.

It just doesn't work that way. Woods has done way too much, his career is a legendary one already. Nothing can ruin it.

It's like an aging QB, a guy who has won SB's, a league MVP. There is nothing he can do in his latter years to erase all that.

I would hardly call Tiger "aging", at least at the time. This ain't like tennis or something. He literally went from challenging the all time Majors record to likely never winning one again.

Ur certainly not wrong in stating that his career is already great, even legendary(the guy is #2 after all). But it's still well short of where it was likely headed.

The words......ruined career.....just doesn't work that's all. No matter what happens from here on out he had a great career.

You just said the definition I showed you was the only one. Now you're presenting another one.

Make up your mind, strawman.

God you suck

Dude, nobody likes you, ok?

No not really. His....career....hasn't been tarnished at all, zero! Nothing is being ruined about his career.

You do understand the word, career.....right?

O.J.Simpson couldn't outrun defensive linemen at the end, Joe Namath could handly walk, both in the Hall of Fame.

You don't understand the word, "tarnished" either.

Wrong as you usually are. His career was fantastic. 99.9 of all the golfers who ever lived would love to have accomplished what he did.

Typical Avante. Scared to admit you're wrong so you ask someone why they're stupid. A lot like Kool. Here's what you guys should do. Kool should dress like a 13 year old girl, you like a black tranny...build yourselves a fuck shed and live out the rest of your lives licking each other's butts and fondling their balls.

Dude, why do you continue to do this stupid routine? And how many times does your dumb ass have to be told about no 13 year old kids hustling drinks in bars? Stupid, why act like you can't read?

Dummy, Tiger Woods career is just fine, ok stupid?

Tiger Woods will never be PNG because of who his father was. It has nothing to do with him. "Weird" doesn't make him PNG. It just makes him weird. NSW can buy their own food. Lol the guys probably ate like hogs and though Tiger was going to pay. That hazardous duty pay didn't cover that 200 dollar plate.

He was having a stellar career and then it got fucked up.
lol..

Was having a stellar career? Tiger Woods never has to hit another golf ball to be probably the greatest golfer of all time. He wasn't having a stellar career. He was dominating the sport from every angle, in a way that's never been seen. He's the reason the younger guys today are doing so well. He brought popularity to the game and as a result average golfers make more money.

"more money" doesn't equate to "a lot of money".

All pros make money, else they aren't pros.
