The first time in how many years where the NFL has no Peyton Manning or Tom Brady for a month. As we watch two of the great franchises in league history suck at the QB position, all of a sudden.

I'd give Brady a break in this situation, yep, special treatment, he's earned it.

Circuit Judge Denny Chin said evidence of ball tampering was "compelling, if not overwhelming" and that there was evidence that Brady "knew about it, consented to it, encouraged it.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/15353950/tom-brady-new-england-patriots-four-game-suspension-deflategate-reinstated-appeals-court
"

It'd be great to see that evidence.

it was about the NFL's authority to issue a suspension under the circumstances, not necessarily about the merits of the specific incident

Yep, air in a football just the way Brady wants it is why the Pats have won all those SB's. Yep, air pressure is the key to winning in the NFL. Those with that perfect PSI are your winning teams, those without it, your losers.

The judges here basically agreed that the suspension is a ridiculous penalty for a still unproven crime, but that Goodell has the authority to do what the fuck he wants under the current CBA. At least the Pats can see if Jimmy Garofolo is any good. Maybe bring ol' Ryan Mallett back in to kick some ass and snort some blow.

I suppose it's just a coincidence that New England's fumbles were reduced greatly after the "supposed" deflations began?

It's not real obvious these Pat teams are simply good? What are you a rookie?

It could be flag football, touch football, Arena football, play up in Canada, it wouldn't matter the Pats would still be who they are. Anyone not seeing that has no business trying to talk with those of us who do get it.

And that -- the players likely desire, in negotiating the next CBA, to strip the Commissioner of a power he's wielded pretty capriciously throughout his tenure -- will likely cause the next work stoppage in a major sport.

Wrong. A player is less likely to fumble a football that is underinflated. That is what was going on here.

Well that explains the Pats' massive jump in fumbles last season with normally inflated footballs that were checked by the league - oh wait, their fumble numbers hardly changed at all.

So the only reason the Pats have done what they have in the Belichick/Brady era is because of PSI in footballs, right?

They always underinflated the balls. They just finally got caught.

Brady and the Pats have had 13 10 or more wins a season. That is only done because of superior play.

So how many of those SB wins were only because of footballs, well?

you keep acting like the important matter here is "if they got an advantage from deflating the footballs"

that's not relevant at all at this point

Then why didn't their fumble totals rise dramatically last season?

yes, i'm sure it has everything to do with that, and nothing to do with the fact that the pats kick you straight out of the door if you fumble... also nothing with the fact that they don't keep fast agile rbs but strictly straight line plodders for short yardage :lol

I don't care if he's suspended or not, I just don't want to hear about deflategate anymore.

As an aside, Brady has grown on me the last few years. Maybe it's because he hasn't consistently been dominating my team like he used to but I think that guy gets unfairly fucked.

Whether the deflating of the footballs actually gave them an advantage is up for debate.

The point is, they knew that under-inflating the footballs was illegal, so they wouldn't have done it if they didn't think it gave them an advantage. That would just be dumb.
If they are simply fined they won't care, and will continue to cheat. Also, they have a history of cheating. They broke the rules, so they should be punished for it.

As for comparing Brady's suspension with Hardy's suspension or any other player that committed an actual crime, I don't think the suspensions should be the same, and no right-minded person should. I think they should keep Brady's suspension as is, and for the guys that are charged with assault on women and any kind of domestic violence, they should be suspended a full year or gone. There's no comparison between that stuff and deflating footballs, however, the NFL still has to protect the integrity of the game.
