Might as well get this rolling with the draft a couple of days away.

Nice to have the luxury of taking BPA in pretty much every round(RIP whoever gets selected in the 3rd). Would like them to go WR in the first to get another weapon to pair with Hopkins and help Osweiler get off to a good start.

So Houston goes from WR's who can't run fast and drop passes to one who does run fast and drops passes.

fanfuckingtastic

Just for informative purposes, this looks like another O'Brien infatuation move. We saw how well that worked out with Hoyer.

you kidding. these guys are lightening fast. with brock's arm.....life is going to be tough on defenses.

Anytime you have legit burners that backs defenders off the line, which opens up everything else. Now we see distance between defenders and the offense, that is the value of having a Randy Moss, Bob Hayes, Clif Branch. Obviously you now have quick strike potential also. Every team needs a 4.3 cat to strike fear in a defense.

Fuller scored 29 TD's in just two seasons, nearly all of them had him blowing by guys. Yep, he dropped a pass a game but averaged about seven catchs a game and a score.

Your old Oiler teams had double zero 00 Ken Burrough as one of their best ever, he was a 9.4 sprinter out of Texas Southern. They also hsd Texas sprinters Tony Jones and Herkie Walls and USC 400m man Travis Hannah. Ever heard of Texas A&I ;s Sid Blanks?

Remember Billy "White Shoes" Johnson? Ya know the one who won his conference 100 yard dash.

For sure - that's what I was saying. He will have to do more in HOU so we will see if they allow him to take control and if he's got the juice or if he's not any good.

O'Brien went on for a 15 minute segment to talk the draft. Just as we expected, he mentioned that all of the receivers in his offense are expected to play different roles. He wants a diverse collection of skillsets so that he can gameplan for specific weaknesses in certain defenses. It really helps to explain his thinking on the pick, and it helps to explain why they weren't really considering Treadwell or Doctson over Fuller because they both already fill the same role that Nuk and Strong do.

Also, he mentioned that Ervin was drafted to play a new position they are creating called "Edge", which is a hybrid slot receiver/running back. Their goal with him is to get him the ball in space by any means necessary, which is likely why they chose him over Booker because he would fill that specific role much better than Booker. He will also help on special teams, obviously.

I'm glad O'Brien once again demonstrated that he at least has a plan for these guys.

Then in the fall Williams caught 15 passes for 457 yards – good for 30.5 yards per catch – and eight touchdowns in the Patriots’ triple-option offense.
He was an NAIA second team All-American kick returner, scoring four times on 24 kick returns. Williams set a single-game NAIA record for kick return yardage against Division II Carson-Newman with 287 yards on five returns. He returned two of those for scores.
In his two-year career with the Patriots, Williams scored 20 times on just 104 touches, including all kick returns, receptions and rushing attempts.
“That’s the thing – he’s really just scratching the surface of what he’s capable of doing,” Dr. Temple said. “He’s got a big window. There’s no doubt in my mind.”
Ryhmer also feels Williams does play to that speed but admits kick returning and vertical routes are strong suits. He does feel that practice will help Williams develop his route running, but he will come in able to block as a wideout in a triple-option offense.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Billy "White Shoes" Johnson was out of a rinkydinky little school, as was Chris Warren, Stump Mitchell, Fred Jackson, Chris Ivory, so......hmmmmmm?
Apparently this isn't the same Cumberland that lost to Georgia Tech 222-0 in 1916.
Legit. He's improved significantly in coverage, which was really his only weakness. Cush is looking like his old self out there, so if he stays healthy that's going to be a nasty tandem this season.
In other news, GOATweiler was doing GOATweiler things and Braxton Miller looks like one of the better rookie receivers in this draft. He, Hopkins and Fuller are going to give secondaries tons of issues. That's not even adding a much improved Jaelen Strong into the mix.
Good to hear. Knew he was going to be a good fit in Houston and said he was a great pickup for you guys on draft day.
How's he doing against the run though? That's where he excelled at Miss. St. He was a run stuffer that could occasionally get all the way to the QB.
Everything seems to indicate he will. BOB said the other day it looked good for him to play in the opener.
He was always good at stopping the run but towards the end of the season he became great at both that and pressuring the QB. Now with his ability to be passable in coverage he can really make a huge impact alongside Cush.
Thank God Cosmored doesn't come to the NFL Forum, tbh.
The Bungles are the most overrated team in the league and couldn't score on Pittsburgh's laughable defense yesterday (on the road)... they're a lousy road team and they have an even lousier track record in Houston. Plus, Houston beat them IN Cincy last year with a much worse offense. I give the Texans that win.
I think their floor is 10-6 and ceiling is 13-3 (losses at GB, DEN, MIN) ... I originally had NE away as a loss but with that crappy 3rd string read option QB trash they have, the Patriots will have a hard time scoring. Still could be a loss if Osweiler gives the Patriots the ball on the regular. If the Texans can't muster a win on Thursday, they should cancel any SB plans because they're certainly not beating NE on the road in the playoffs WITH Brady or even Garoppolo.
It's like you people have never seen pro football before. Pro teams know where they are in the division and when to cruise and when it's time to rev it up, this is not the must win every game NCAA. Obviously they would never admit that.
Indy, Tenn and Jags are 1-5 combined, now just how important was this game for the Texans at 2-1?
IT'S WEEK THREE~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Chiefs went 1-5 in 2015 ok? Ended up 11-5.
Sheesh~~~~
Atlanta started off 5-0, ended up 8-8
O'brien was probably upset that he threw that garbage time td to hopkins, because apparently passing to him is against the rules this year
O'Brien is a prick who tries to be like Belicheck so damn bad.
Yet who put this story in the media? O'Brien's play calling is shitty tbh. Not that it makes Osweiler any good.
It's one big shit sandwich per Houston's usual
lossweiler sucks tbh... he was a mediocre prospect coming out and hasn't really done anything to change that notion. he had that one gutsy performance against the pats... but he was largely ineffective
Is that why Denver offered him the same money Houston did?
Oz will be fine. He'll be an above average game manager and that will be enough to win the division.
Which is sort of why Houston offered him money.:lol
First Arian Foster......now Andre Johnson retires. Always liked Andre Johnson, tbh. When he was on, he was one of the best to ever do it.
And btw...thank you Andre for giving that faggot Cortland Finnegan a three piece spicy.
Pretty nice luxury having Savage as a backup. He could start for a few teams.
Savage sure can make the throws when taking a hit in the pocket. Hopefully having Miller back in the run game will help him out some more.
Yeah. But the good thing about having such a young star qb is that you know he'll be around a long time. Plenty of competitive seasons ahead.
Or having the league/refs use you to start two dynasties with the Steelers in the 70s and 2000 Pats.
Starting Assweiler makes sense tbh. Might as well give him a last shot to redeem himself. It's not like Houston is getting past NE anyway. If he sets himself on fire like he's expected to, it makes the decision to cut him easier.
Any ideas on who they will hire as a replacement????
They won't. BOB will double as OC and HC next year per reports. Fml.
Other news...Vrabel has been promoted to DC. Great move to hang on to him. Might wind up being HC eventually if things keep going to shit. Crennell will stay on as an associate HC. He probably didn't want to fuck with taking another job so they just made a position for him so they could go ahead and transition Vrabel to DC and give him a raise so another team doesn't come calling.
