I know the pain, since the Bucs are my second team. And these recent years haven't been great to Baltimore either.

Thank God for my Niner football cards. When I get really bummed out over the current sucky situation I open up my Niner binder and there's Joe and Jerry and Ronnie and Joe "The Jet" and.....THE KING, staring back at me. It's soothing.

DeForest Buckner DE Oregon, look for him to be our first pick.

6'7" Height
34 3/8" Arm Length
291LBS. Weight
11 3/4" Hands

OverviewIt would be foolish for team to be wary of selecting Buckner because of the lack of success of former Ducks defender and number three overall pick Dion Jordan, as he's a completely different type of player. The 2015 Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year, Ted Hendricks Award finalist and member of multiple All-American squads (first team USA Today, second team AP, etc.) presents a thicker frame, portending an NFL career with his hand on the ground, rather than a stand-up pass rusher like Jordan. Buckner had become a name to note as a 2014 second-team All-Pac-12 pick (led team with 13 tackles for loss) after two seasons as a partial-year starter; he had 29 tackles and two starts, playing in every game as a true freshman in 2013, followed by a eight-start sophomore season (3.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks). He finished off his career in style (83 tackles, 17 for loss, Pac-12 leading 10.5 sacks), putting himself among the top prospects in the senior class.

Pro Day Results
Bench: 21 reps of 225 pounds AnalysisStrengthsImpressive NFL-ready physique. Has natural strength and power in his hands and improved their effectiveness this year. Not a content player, Buckner plays with effort and will continue working hands and feet to improve his positioning. Light went on as pass rusher in 2015. Generated top-end production by combining his power and dynamic athletic traits. Improved his pad level as rusher creating dominating pocket push that he was able to convert into sacks and knockdowns. Rare tackle production for defensive lineman with 163 over last two seasons. Long arms and good play speed allow him maximum field coverage to tackle. Flexible upper body. Can flip shoulders, then hips around the edge of blockers allowing him to play on the other side of the line. Has size and athleticism for scheme versatility. Quick off the snap and difficult to cut off in run game. WeaknessesPlays too tall after the snap. Pad level so high that it impacts ability to stop and change direction with necessary body control. Needs to bend more when penetrating in order to avoid redirect blocks. Will need to play with wider base to take on blockers on next level. Has habit of turning shoulders and getting knocked out of position rather than taking on blocks with squared up pads. Draft ProjectionRound 1 Sources Tell Us"His comp is going to be Calais Campbell or Arik Armstead but I think he's more talented coming out than either one of those guys. He's twice the player Armstead was coming out." - NFC Regional Scout NFL ComparisonCalais Campbell Bottom LineHeaded into this season, Buckner was a traits prospect who flashed with quickness, strength and overall athleticism, but he put those traits together in 2015. Buckner has the body type of a classic 3-4 defensive end who can control the point of attack with length and power, but he has above average pass rush potential for that position which figures to push him into the early stages of round one. Buckner has similar power to former teammate Arik Armstead, but is a much better pass rusher and has a chance to become a dominant force in the NFL

What he said made total sense. When you decide to do something like that though it just overshadows everything. I'm not saying it's right but that's the way it is.

He knew he was going to piss people off by sitting and thought that would get their attention. It did but now that is all they think about.

The timing of Kraep's "protest" seems awfully convenient. It's not like he's LeBron or Kareem or Ali or another athlete with a track record of speaking out about social issues. Kraep has a track record of referring to black players as racial slurs and making insensitive jokes on social media about the Houston floods. Until now, he's been known as a dumb knucklehead who says stupid shit.

But now that he's been banished to the bench and is looking at another lost season as Blaine Gabbert's backup, suddenly he fancies himself as an SJW and he's staging attention-grabbing protests. When you consider both the person and the timing, it rings too hollow to be taken seriously. Especially since said protest is motivated by an emotional narrative that cops gun down black people for fun, as opposed to objective facts and reality.

I don't get the argument that protests shouldn't be judged by the credibility of its leader(s). You wouldn't take a protest against sexting seriously if Anthony Weiner was the ringleader. So why should we take a protest against "oppression" seriously when it's led by a privileged NFL quarterback who uses racial slurs?

Avante

Kaepernick needs to protest guys like his dad who bail on their families. The link between crime and one parent is very evident.

Dads in the homes mean less kids on the streets, which means less crime which means less police.

DPG21920
08-30-2016, 04:05 PM
I have no problem with what he did either. I don't think it was the best way to go about it, but if he really believes something there are a lot worse things you can do. Ultimately, there is always a PC angle/teammate angle to deal with but you are usually damned if you do, damned if you don't.

So he chose his way, didn't infringe on others and staged a peaceful protest. I don't see the big issue personally.

Incorrect...

Personal lifeKaepernick was baptized (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baptized) Methodist (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methodist), confirmed (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confirmation) Lutheran (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lutheran), and attended a Baptist (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baptist) church during his college years.[47] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colin_Kaepernick#cite_note-Saracevic-47) Kaepernick spoke about his faith saying, "My faith is the basis from where my game comes from. I’ve been very blessed to have the talent to play the game that I do and be successful at it. I think God guides me through every day and helps me take the right steps and has helped me to get to where I’m at. When I step on the field, I always say a prayer, say I am thankful to be able to wake up that morning and go out there and try to glorify the Lord with what I do on the field. I think if you go out and try to do that, no matter what you do on the field, you can be happy about what you did."[48] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colin_Kaepernick#cite_note-48)
Kaepernick has multiple tattoos (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tattoos). His right arm features a scroll with the Bible verse Psalm 18 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psalm_18):39 written on it. Tattooed under the scroll are praying hands with the phrase "To God The Glory" written on them. To the left of both the scroll and praying hands is the word "Faith" written vertically. His left arm features a Christian cross with the words "Heaven Sent" on it referring to Jesus. Written above and below the cross is the phrase "GOD WILL GUIDE ME". Written to the left and right of the cross is the Bible verse Psalm 27:3. His chest features the phrase "Against All Odds" and artwork around it that represents "inner strength, spiritual growth, and humility". His back features a mural of angels against demons.[49] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colin_Kaepernick#cite_note-mercurynews.com-49)[50] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colin_Kaepernick#cite_note-50)[51] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colin_Kaepernick#cite_note-51)[52] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colin_Kaepernick#cite_note-52)
When he was 10 years old, Kaepernick acquired a pet tortoise named Sammy. The tortoise since has grown to weigh 115 pounds.[53] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colin_Kaepernick#cite_note-53) When he was in 4th grade, Kaepernick wrote himself a letter, predicting that he would be 6 feet 4 inches, 190 pounds, and would "then go to the pros and play on the Niners or Packers even if they aren't good in seven years,"[54] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colin_Kaepernick#cite_note-54) predictions which became accurate except for his weight.
Near the end of the 2012 NFL season, Kaepernick's signature touchdown celebration earned him a photo fad by his namesake, called "Kaepernicking". The signature touchdown pose involves flexing and kissing the bicep of his right arm. Kaepernick says he kisses his "Faith", "To God The Glory", and Psalm 18:39 tattoos and the reason he does the celebration is because "...it's my way of saying I don't really care what people think about my tattoos" and "God has brought me this far. He has laid out a phenomenal path for me. And I can't do anything but thank Him."

It's not really "past sins" as much as it's a track record of being a non-serious person. I don't think Kaep is a bad person per se, he's just never once given off the vibe of someone who cares about political issues and the world around him until now. He comes across as a college freshman who took one sociology class and now thinks he has all the answers to the world's problems.

It doesn't help matters that he's now going around in socks with pigs in cop hats all over them. That shows more of the same immaturity that we've come to expect from Kaepernick over the years. It just confirms his critics' assumption that he's doing this for attention at the end of his NFL playing days.

You bring up Malcolm and Martin, but here's the thing. They weren't perfect people, they had their vices, but they were also intelligent, serious people who knew what they were talking about. Kaepernick isn't. He doesn't even compare to other pro athletes who have spoken out about social causes. He's a knucklehead who knows his NFL career is pretty much over, so he's grabbing for headlines while he still can.

I never got this feeling I was fighting for my country while in VN, what threat was any of that to us? I was just doing what I was told to do with no options available to me.

Where did that happen with your uncle?

What is happening is like we are seeing right now with Kaepernick. Blacks causing too much trouble and people are tired of it. Tired of the drugs, black men bailing on the family, the gangs, the shiit music talking about fucking and violence. Black kids roaming the streets all hours of the night. Shit like......FUCK THE POLICE~~~~~

Cue liberals starting up the "Chip Kelly is a racist" storyline again when Ponder's starting next week - even though Krappernick is clearly the worst QB on the Niners' roster and one of the worst in football.

Still on the fence about Baalke tbh, since he did draft a lot of the talent the 2010-2014 Niners had. :lol Whoever honestly believed in the latter two doe...

I didn't watch a single Niner game this season, so the Chip Kelly era will be like Memento to me.

i actually was ok with his hire but I think it's best to just move on from the clusterfuck of the past few years. I'll be pissed if they keep Kap, and supposedly that was Kelly's idea. Kap has got to go.
Since we're stuck with the Yorks I just hope Jed learns something from this.
