It's hot as hell here and the air is filled with smoke. The air quality is like it was back in Houston in '98 when there were all those fires burning in Mexico. Open your windows or step outside and all you smell is homes going up in flames from the valley.

I have a question:

New homes are built in the Western US at an amazing pace, many of which are in wooded areas. Are the building codes updated to require metal roofs in heavily forested areas?

I saw someone on the news wetting their roof with a hose. It looked like it was a composite shingle job.
