Just another battle in the capitalists' war on labor.

The capitalists have been winning for 40+ years (99%'s real income stagnation) and are unstoppable.

In nastily red Indiana, I wonder how many of these laborers vote every time a straight Repug(VRWC/capitalist) ticket after being conned by Repugs about "abortion, LGBT, knitters, Muslims, immigrants) ?

$5.85 and no benefits? :lol Carrier knows there will be no repercussions. The laborers protesting will accomplish nothing.

Carrier will win, with mgmt and investors pocketing the $65M.

Other companies will emulate.

Can capital be stopped from screwing labor? Hell no. America The Shining Oligarchical Plutonomy In A Shithole is fucked and unfuckable.

Mr. Trump did an outstanding job identifying instances like this as such a major concern for GOP primary voters in certain states. Jeb hired an army of consultants and couldn't figure out what was going on or what his message needed to be. He thought he could just buy the election through advertising and by reminding people that his father and brother were POTUS.

Con job, he won't be elected, and if he were, who wouldn't, couldn't do anything about Carrier-type job killings. He'd sign TPP, TTIP just like Hillary would.

You're kidding yourself. Trump has been complaining about how we get ripped off in trade for decades. Some of his campaign is an act (like his stance on abortion -- something he doesn't really care about), but being against bad trade deals is in his DNA. Hillary would sign that shit. Trump would say "fuck no".

Although he runs his Trump business as an autocrat, a US President doesn't have the power to be an autocrat (yet).

We can't compete...

What do I keep saying about free trade?

Actually, they never offered below minimum wage. They said that was the pay that would be equal to manufacturing in Mexico.

Looks like no more AC units manufactured in the USA any more. We just cannot compete with China and elsewhere.

You can thank president Clinton for all these lost jobs... all his free trade deals...

HW Bush would have done it too, he was negotiating this shit also.

Yes, he would have. At least NAFTA. I don't know if he would have struck the trade deals that followed, which are the ones that seriously undercut the US worker. With NAFTA alone, we would have raised the standard of living for our immediate neighbors on our southern border. There would be less illegal immigration. The trade agreements that followed turned around and made NAFTA ineffective for helping Mexico in any substantial way. Now, Asia is benefiting the most.

I have explained this concept for years. Are you forgetful?

It isn't NAFTA that broke Carrier's commitment to the USA, but air conditioners coming from China and other places. They have lost too much market share because they have not been able to remain competitive with the effective slave labor wages of Asia. Just be glad they aren't moving operations to China.

WTF? 100Ks of MX subsistence corn farmers were wiped out by subsidized glyphosate-polluted American corn.

Who do you think was really pushing them though?

But, but, but this is free market at work! This pads up the pockets of job creators! Why do you hate America?
