Back at it again at the AT&T Center after an incredible and dominant Game 1 victory. Don't expect another performance like Game 1 tonight, but hopefully we can carry some of that momentum into Game 2 and go from there. Need to head to OKC with a 2-0 series lead, and I'm sure they'll play much better in this one, so gotta bring it again. Everyone is available for both teams. Not much else needs to be said. Let's get it.

It's time for OKC to strike back. I see them going full force along with brutal physicality.
Also I do think they will clean up more for Westbrook isos and they gonna push the tempo as much a they can.

Let's see if the Spurs can match their intensity. If the Spurs can do it, the game is ours.

Still can't wait to see Spurs defense. !!!!!!11

The Game 2 Officials are Ken Mauer, Sean Corbin, and Marc Davis. The alternate is Derrick Collins.

This crew has not yet worked a game together in the 2016 playoffs, primarily because Mauer and Davis were both crew chiefs in Round 1. Mauer and Corbin have worked together 2 times: game 1 of MIA/CHA (MIA home win) and Game 4 of OKC/DAL (OKC road win).

MAUER

Each year the playoffs begin with 7 or 8 crew chiefs and as the rounds progress, that number gets whittled down -- usually 6 crew chiefs in the Conference Semifinals, 5 in the Conference Finals, and then the 4 crew chiefs of the Finals (who I tend to think are the league’s highest rated officials). Mauer has been 1 of the 5 Conference Finals crew chiefs every year since 2012, but he’s never been a Finals crew chief. That seems likely to change this year, as Joey Crawford has retired and Mauer is the most logical replacement. So, Mauer is (probably) seen by the NBA as one of its 4 best officials.

This is Mauer’s 185th career playoff game, his 6th game this year, and his 52nd game in the Conference Semifinals. He has worked the NBA Finals every year since 2006.

Mauer did not work any games in the Spurs First Round Series with Memphis. He worked Game 4 of the OKC/DAL series, which OKC won in Dallas.

Home teams are 4-1 with Mauer in the 2016 playoffs. Between 2007 and 2015, home teams were 73-38 (.658) with Mauer overall and 20-9 in the Conference Semifinals.

The Spurs are 18-11 in the playoffs with Mauer, 11-3 at home in any round, 4-1 at home in Game 2’s, and 5-1 at home in the Conference Semifinals. Mauer worked Game 1 of the Spurs/Clippers series last year (LAC won). Spurs were 4-0 with Mauer in 2014 and 2-2 with Mauer in 2013.

Since moving to OKC, the Thunder are 5-7 in the playoffs with Mauer. They are 3-4 on the road, 0-1 in road Game 2’s, and 1-2 on the road in the Conference Semifinals.

Mauer was the crew chief for Game 2 of the 2014 WCF (SA won at home) and for Game 4 of the 2012 WCF (OKC won at home).

CORBIN

This is Corbin’s 66th career playoff game, his 3rd this year, and his 17th game in the Conference Semifinals.

Corbin did not work any games in the Spurs/Grizzlies series. He worked Game 4 of the OKC/DAL series (with Mauer), which OKC won in Dallas.

Home teams are 1-1 with Corbin in the 2016 playoffs. Between 2007 and 2015, home teams were 24-14 (.632) with Corbin overall and 5-5 in the Conference Semifinals.

The Spurs are 5-1 in the playoffs with Corbin, 3-0 at home in any round, and 1-0 at home in Game 2’s. He has not worked a Spurs playoff game since Game 6 of the 2013 WCSF series (SA win at GST to clinch series). Before that, Corbin had not worked any Spurs playoff game since 2007.

Since moving to OKC, the Thunder are 4-0 in playoff games called by Corbin and 3-0 on the road (won Game 4 at DAL in 2016, Game 3 at LAC in 2014, and Game 6 at HOU in 2013).

DAVIS

This is Davis’s 87th career playoff game, his 7th this year, and his 20th Conference Semifinals game. Davis was one of the 8 crew chiefs in the First Round and he has worked the NBA Finals in 4 of the last 5 years and in each of the last 3 years (2011, 2013, 2014, and 2015).

Davis worked Game 1 of the Spurs/Grizzlies series, an SA win at home. He did not work any games in the OKC/DAL series.

Home teams are 5-1 with Davis in the 2016 playoffs. Between 2007 and 2015, home teams were 53-26 (.671) with Davis overall and 9-10 in the Conference Semifinals.

The Spurs are 10-3 in the playoffs with Davis, 9-1 at home. He has not previously worked a Spurs home game in the WCSF and has not worked a home Game 2. Davis worked Game 6 of the Spurs/Clippers series in 2015 (LAC win in SA). The Spurs were 5-0 with Davis in 2014 and 3-0 with Davis in 2013.

Since moving to OKC, the Thunder are 4-7 in the playoffs with Davis, 2-4 on the road, and 0-2 on the road in the Conference Semifinals.

Davis worked Game 1 of the 2014 WCF (SA win at home) and Game 1 of the 2012 WCF (SA win at home).

COLLINS

Collins has worked 19 career playoff games, 2 games this year, and 3 games in the Conference Semifinals.

He did not work any of the First Round games for either the Spurs or the Thunder.

It's kind of on the Spurs to prove it wasn't. That was the best game they've put together in months. I'd kind of like to see them do it twice in a row before I believe they've reverted to 2014 finals form.

Any team shooting 80%+ for quarter is fluking.

Spurs have played MANY more quarters shooting well under FG 40%

If the Spurs just shoot their season average FG% they still blow OKC out. So SA shooting that well, or as bad as the 40% you mention is fluky. Spurs were a top 2-3 shooting team this season. And against a defense that is middle of the pack the odds of them shooting closer to their season average is solid.

Several pundits for whatever reason believe OKC is really deep. These two, Barkley have all stated that. I think the success of Ernest Kanter (on offense) and their collection of other bigs has given that impression. Hopefully, this series will show which team has real depth.

One thing I hope happens (in theory) is that if OKC starts more, better scoring wings and goes smaller (possible adjustment) that it helps kill their REB advantage.

I don't think they will adjust that way, but we will see. I still think Waiters or Morrow starts tonight but again, I'm hoping they hold off one game before making that change and it costs them tonight as well.

I'm hoping TP is ready. Spurs are going to need a good scoring game from TP once IMO. OKC will test him instead of LMA and he has to make them pay so they feel helpless.

Don't have to fall for every single bait job, but be ready to knock down shots if they stick to LMA.

Did anyone else notice how Kawhi came down after that first dunk? Very awkward and he grabbed his left hamstring right after hitting the floor. He played great the rest of the game, but I wonder how that felt after the game when the muscles start to tighten up. We'll see tonight.

If Parker and DG both repeat their performances in the first game, results could be similar. Given LMA and Kawhi do their thing too ;) ....5 more hours...lol

I think Westbrook's man (mostly Kawhi so far) leaking out and heading down court every time Westbrook crashes the offensive boards was really effective. How many deep outlets from Duncan or Manu or LMA to Kawi lead to a layup or dunk? No way Westbrook keeps looking for offense rebounds while Kawhi heads the other way.

The Spurs have made them pay. I'm betting Westbrook doesn't have a single double digit rebounding game in this series.

Yeah, that seems like an unwise statement from Adams. Maybe he's bluffing or something, but if that's really true, admitting it wouldn't seem to be in the Thunder's best interests.

And by the way, in the event that anyone from Spurs game operations happens to read this forum, posting that tweet on the scoreboard right before tip-off would probably be a good reminder to fans.

Someone I was listening to made a great observation. OKC is a great offensive rebounding team, but many times it's at the expense of discipline. Westbrook, instead of getting back, crashes the glass. It works a lot, but when it doesn't their defense is compromised especially when he's lazy.

If SA can rebound well, it will also lead to plenty of leak outs with OKC scrambling. I think OKC should take a page out of SAs book (especially WB) and after shots, focus on getting back more.

Definitely - even when WB wasn't crashing the glass, he was posing after his shots. But it's the softer side of why REB is so critical. OKC is too good to give 2nd chances to but it also leads to the best chance for SA to score.

Exactly what i have been thinking... Pop hates crashing O boards. Puts transition d at risk, which is why Spurs have traditionally lacking in that stat.... In game one you could tell Pop instructed them to take advantage... We got a lot of easy buckets because OKC was not getting back... Reason I never considered that a real advantage for OKC

It's definitely an advantage if SA doesn't protect the defensive glass. OKC will absolutely be in games that SA doesn't hold the offensive rebounds to a minimum.

Sure, but this was not about their bigs. It was a nuanced observation about their guard, Westbrook, and his role in offensive rebounds and the opportunities it presents for SA when they take care of the glass and OKC is compromised.

If Love & Horford switched spot they would have been PERFECT fits for their respective teams.

Love is being asked to make spot-up jumpers which is something Horford does at an elite level while also playing excellet PnR defense. Meanwhile, Love would give the Hawks a postup scorer & an elite rebounder.

It would make a lot of sense to sign & trade Horford for Dwight (throw in Ariza/Teague to sweeten the pot).

It's all good - can't focused on the results too early. OKC scoring better because SA missing a lot, but SA still getting plenty of good looks. Tide will turn. Stay the course.

Not even that imo, they've missed 4 layups (3 of them would go in 80% of the time).

Not worried ONE BIT about this start. OKC defense is still swiss cheese, we just missing VERY easy ones. Won't happen all game.

I wish Tim would dunk the ball. He obviously still can. Stop with that layup shit, it's the playoffs.

Getting some good looks, Green is still useless off the dribble. They'll snap out of it after this timeout. Go right to LMA or Kawhi in the post after this timeout

It's pretty bad how he can hardly get off the ground now. It's like he has the hops of an 80 year old. A year go he would have dunked some of these missed layups.

TP has to look to score some. I love being unselfish but OKC is sloppy in recovering to the big out of the PnR and giving TP plenty of space to drive and finish.
