William Anthony "Tony" Parker Jr. (born 17 May 1982) is a French professional basketball player for the San Antonio Spurs of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Parker has helped the Spurs win four NBA championships in 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2014.

Employing his pace and high field goal percentage to great effect, Parker has been named to six NBA All-Star games, three All-NBA Second Teams, and an All-NBA Third Team. He was also the 2007 NBA Finals MVP.

The point guard finished as the tournament's top scorer with 19 points per game.[2] In 2015 he became the all-time leading scorer in the EuroBasket competition.

We need him. He's been doing exactly what Pop wanted. Looking to set others up and opportunistic for himself. We definitely needed the help bc LMA wasn't going to stay that hot the entire series, 70% was just ridiculous. Him hitting 3s was huge and the clutch FT, he came up with a loose ball/long rebound late in the game too. I loved his effort tonight. Stayed within the team offense too.

In typical NBA 12 year-old fan fashion, headlines point to KL and his 31 points. Totally neglecting the fact that when big shots were needed, it was Tony Parker who came through at crucial times scoring a bucket, not KL.
When the spurs needed to sustain the lead KL dribbled for 20 seconds at the top of the key and then tossed it to the perimeter or the wing to a covered Spur to take the shot.
KL threw the offense into a bunch of watchers, and if he does that next round, if the Spurs have that piece where THEY CANT SCORE or MOVE THE BALL, then they will get blown out by the Warriors.
Tony came through on his crappy contract last night. KL still does not understand how to control an offense. KL needs more nasty.

If the best player on the team is going to garner the criticism and ugly headlines after a bad game/loss then it's likely he's going to get the praise after a win. Especially when he puts up 31 and 11. Let's not act like Leonard put up empty stats. In the 4th quarter alone he scored a game high 13 points on 3-4 shooting and hit all 6 fts. He did have a stupid turnover but came back and grabbed a huge and decisive offensive rebound. He was shaky at times but he more than performed in the clutch too.
And that's not taking anything away from Parker. After a shaky start and friendly conversation with Pop on the bench, he was on point. He was hitting the glass, distributing the ball, and hitting key shots. He's garnering plenty of praise for his performance and rightly so.

For THIS game, LMA fell from Olympus to Mount Rushmore, where he was joined by Tony and Kawhi. Hitting a couple of very clutch 3s and playing masterful defense, Danny belongs up there, too. With contributions from a couple of others, the TEAM won. That's how teams do it.

I disagree with this. KL is turning into a black hole on the perimeter. For all the crap the board gives tp for dribble dribble dribble, we aren't seeing much more from KL. The difference is KL pulls up, where TP takes it to the rack.

Stud performance by Parker. But will he do it again in this series?
That's the question at this stage of his career.
Will he have another 19/8/5 game? Probably not...he might not take 14 shots again in this series. Will he have another 12 assist game? Maybe not. But will he do his job and finish the series with more than twice as many assists as anyone else on the team? Looks like it.
The problem with the expectations for Tony on this forum is that they change based on what he does in any single game. If he scores 20, you want 20 every game. If he dishes 10 assists, you want it every game. If he shoots 60% from the field, you want it every game. If he grabs 8 boards, you want it every game. If he hits 3 threes, you want it every game. And the moment he doesn't come through on any one of those, he takes criticism from people who can't understand what normal expectations for a guy playing 25 minutes a game are.

Another solid game for TP, tbh..one of the only players to show up tonight..
Hopefully the Spurs didn't waste a good TP performance..he probably won't have to do as much in game 5, though, as I'm sure Homedridge will show up once he has his pillows and blankey..

Yeah, nothing to complain about tonight from Tony... shame we wasted a good game from him though...

Tony making the decision easy for PATFO. Green's gotta be the one to go out of the two

He made a lot of good shots. Didn't like the turns but all in all Tony was very good.
I'm re watching that stretch of the mid 3rd where Tony hits some big shots.
TBH, it's the ref ringing up Green 3Xs in a couple minutes for what looked like very suspect foul calls.
Twice on Durants vag and once on Westbrooks. Seemed to bring OKC right back in the game. :rolleyes

Parker was wonderful in the first three quarters. If he plays like this the rest of series, with solid production from Green, Aldridge and Leonard we will be find. Fourth quarter was bad though, have to clean up the turnovers.

Yah that was ridiculous. I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone pick up 3 fouls that quick. And it didn't even look like any of them were fouls.

Really was calling for Tony to play sooner than the 7 mark Pop inserted. Mills put in effort, but hes been underwhelming the whole series. Tony's been doing a decent job showing whens hes guarding off the ball.

Parker's stats for the series after game 4:
13/7/3 on 50% shooting.

Parker had two solid performances on the road which is a good sign... if the trend is distributing more at home and helping the scoring on the road, this trend is pretty good. This is exactly on the road we need Parker to feed a bit more the scoreboard.
Yesterday the only negative is the turnover with in particular two driving into a crowded paint that was not very smart.
