View Full Version : Refs will heavily favor Spurs in Game 6

I think we are going to see all the ref calls go the Spurs way in game 6. It feels like the refs have been controlling a lot of these games in critical moments to cause the outcome. Refs will force this into a game 7, I'm guessing the agenda will be to get OKC and Warriors in the next round, but we will make it to a game 7. Sickening tbh but likely the case like we have seen in past years. Finals will probably lean towards refs manufacturing a dubs win for the back to back and the story line.

The NBA is all about the dollars and revenue. I'm not saying the Spurs will win this series, NBA clearly wants a OKC/Dubs matchup, but they will ensure we get to a game 7.

Refs reward OKC because they attack. most of the Spurs just shoot jumpers it seems like. the only players who generate FTs are LMA and Kawhi who is consistently disrespected by the officials. but still if spurs attacked the rim more theyd get more calls

If you were ESPN what game would you rather promote ? Curry/Thompson Vs. La / Kawhi Or
Curry/Thompson Vs. Durant/Westbrook?

If the refs were going to favor us, they would have done it last night on our court. It didn't happen.

At halftime Spurs led 30-14 (or so) in points in the paint, yet had a quarter of the FTs OKC had.
The refs were bad as soon as the game started last night and they made huge calls which turned the tide of the game. Green trip foul on Durant, the lane violation/foul which sparked a huge run, ghost foul on green on the steal, the 24 second violation and the call at the end of the game. This is also after the worst called end to a game ever in Game 2.
Not a coincidence.

Why does everyone think the refs are going to win a game when the Spurs losing on the boards by 20 with no D rebounds in the final six minutes and shooting 9 for 3mfing2 from mid range? Delusional. The Spurs need to hit open shots and rebound.
The he refs are atrocious but Game 1 showed how good the Spurs are capable of being. The Spurs have no one to blame but themselves. Every loss this series is one or both of LMA/Kawhi disappearing in the crunch and the bench being awful. The Spurs will either play like champions tomorrow or go out like pussies with excuses. This team is too good for excuses.

Exactly. It's just easier to blame someone else than to actually put blame on yourself. You just have to admit now that the Spurs are not the better team. Referees have nothing to do with it.
If you think the Spurs are the better team, than play like you did in Game 1 where referees cannot change any outcome.

exactly, we have seen this shit for years......3 pt shooting will usually get you out of this. we are not doing it. The league wants 2 things. Durant to stay in OKC and the GSW to be a 2 time champ.....they do not want the spurs beating their 73-9 champs. so we were doomed from the beginning. the game 5 game is usually a neutral game. let the best team win.....this game was rigged from the beginning becasue they want OKC to win. PERIOD.

So the Spurs should have to play near perfect every game to get a win and OKC should only need to play well to win. Sounds legit lol. Refs make our margin for error slim as fuck, that is a huge advantage for OKC.

Actually it's going to be just the opposite. Game 6 will be worse than all the other games combined. You just watch.

So this is basically another the NBA is rigged, etc, thread. Sometimes you have to question it, especially this series. Actually the Spurs/Warriors WCF would get better ratings for the NBA than an Warriors/Thunder WCF.

Yep. Ala Game 6 2012. Still remember Jackson getting a bullshit technical for something Westbrook does all the time.

It's not rigged. It's just a symptom of the poor level of officiating in the NBA right now.
I have absolutely no issues with the majority of calls OKC gets (except for the blown calls at the end). I have a problem with the officials being wildly inconsistent & SA not getting the same calls as OKC when they occur. SA is living in the paint. They are banging. They deserve the calls too.
Spurs9
05-11-2016, 12:34 PM
True the Spurs kept it close due to lack of rebounding, but when it has been close they make the final call which has been several clearly blatant misses while they are looking at the play. Setting aside some of the horrific calling during the play, when they didn't call the foul at the end on Leonard, they called it on Aldridge after Westbrook initiated contact and didn't even really touch him. Rigging may not be the best word but like DPG there is no consistency in calling. We will see how tomorrow plays out though...

So the NBA wants a four game series instead of a five game series? Okay
The NBA would love to see Durant/Westbrook in the western conference finals again before Durant's decision

This is possibly the worst reffing I've seen in a series but why are the Spurs not going off to the media? Even Stephen A Smith was talking about how the NBA is letting down their fans today.
With that said, the Spurs are capable of winning this series and it shouldn't even have come down to the refs influence. Those of you expecting an unfair game in the Spurs favor are going to be let down in about 30 hrs.

I had though about this, GSW and SAS are two titans that people have been waiting to see. OKC has star power but a 67 win and a 73 win team meeting in the conference finals is historic.
If the league does do some sketchy shit, then this theory makes the most sense.

No they fucking won't :lmao
1) NBA's worst case scenario is a Spurs vs Cavs rematch, low ratings
2) NBA wants to knock out the Spurs because they are GSW's biggest threat
3) NBA wants an OKC vs GSW conference finals because their regular season games were high scoring, no defense, hero ball games. Compared to a low pace, defensive, Spurs matchup.

This is what has always driven me nuts during the whole entire Duncan era. It seems like whenever the Spurs beat a team with big name stars they have to not just be slightly better but better by a huge margin to make sure the refs can't screw the game up with phantom calls. When the Spurs beat the Lakers in '03 and Miami in '14 they were on another level and it wasn't even close enough for the refs to fuck up the outcomes. I think what also hurts the Spurs is they have never had a superstar player that was a larger than life figure on the level of being an A list celebrity which hurts them in the respect department with the refs. For example Kawhi is a better player than Westbrook but Westbrook gets more respect from the refs when it comes to getting calls than Kawhi does and I feel that has to do psychologically with them viewing Westbrook like a celebrity whereas Kawhi comes across as a commoner.

Unreal. Someone mentioned that exact play on realgm, I must've walked away when they showed that angle.
that fucking chimp gets away with whatever he wants out there.
same shit happened in 2012, Kawhi secured a key rebound in game 6 iirc, Chimpbrook nailed him over the back of the head (directly in front of the ref) so he coughed up the ball, out of bounds and thunderef ball. This series might actually be worse than 2012, it's just the bullshit is more spread out.

No, sir. The Spurs are the "boring" team that your dad likes. OKC and the Warriors are the hot teams with the younger generations and the NBA is trying to appeal to a younger audience these days. The Warriors might as well be branded the "Official franchise of the Millennial generation." And Durestbrook is not far behind. Just look at the bullshit they wear to their post-game pressers and their ambiguously gay (NTTAWWT) way of doing their post-games together.
