NOTHING BUT TIM DUNCAN TALK

There is a VERY realistic chance that Thursday, May 12 will be the last time Tim Duncan puts on a Spurs uniform.

I want to dedicate a farewell type thread for him while he's still playing because for one, he deserves it, but two since he won't announce anything and allow us to say farewell, we need to do it on our own, and its pretty much a guessing game on when his last game will be.

Obviously I want the Spurs to win game 6 and maybe he ends up playing another year. But just in case we don't and he doesn't, lets do him justice.

Enjoy every minute he's on the court for Game 6.

Post your favorite images, videos, moments of him. If you have any personal pictures of when you met him, post those.

I have some pictures of when they had the Inaguration Pep rally in front of the Alamo in 1997 for him, but their at home and I'll post them later.

As far as Game 6 goes, I feel like i've been saying this every game but I'm going to say it again, I hope he has a little bit left in him to help will this team to win game 6. Whether its through Hustle plays or through rebounding, or even scoring I don't care. I hope he makes this farewell thread last a while before we truly say farewell.

The best franchise player to EVER play the game. There can be another Jordan or kobe but there can never be another DUNCAN. He's a great basketball player but the most I admire about him is his sportsmanship, leadership, team first approach.. man I can go on and on. I just wanna say THANK YOU TIMMY.. :cry :cry

:worthy: TIM DUNCAN

I'm not saying farewell until Duncan does.

Which he probably won't do until 2 or 3 weeks after the end of a season.

I guess I just wanted something for him while hes still playing instead of after the fact. That way there may be more appreciation for him (if possible) every minute he's on the court in game 6.

And theres no way to guess when it will be over because Spurs might win game 6 and maybe he decides to come back next year. But based on the way he's looked and the way the Spurs have looked, Thursday may very well be his last.

But I guess I understand those who don't want to post anything because he hasn't announced anything.

Either way i'll post other pictures and videos throughout the day for anyone who cares to enjoy them :toast

Pictures from Welcoming Party for Tim Duncan in front of the Alamo in June of 1997. Everyone knew how special he was going to be even before he played a single game for the Spurs.

You know, I think I saw Duncan acting pissed off on the bench when he was removed and Adams got a dunk on the next play. Then Pop put him right back in. :lol Tim finally asserting himself in his last games ever...

Robinson may mean more to the city of San Antonio (as a citizen), presently, but without Duncan the team would be 5 NBA championships short and probably in Oklahoma City (or elsewhere) by now.

I love David Robinson, but he isn't touching Duncan at all.

And how the fuck did Robinson "help him get here?" Do your mean by intentionally ruining his own back and shortening his career?!?!?!?! Okay, buddy.....

This makes me wanna cry... I wasnt a fan of Duncan at 1st. I was just a Ginobili fan. Then I started watching all the Spurs. Talking about dependable, faithful, loyalty, no complaining to the FO, Classy, etc. There's a big picture of Duncan. The end of a great era

I know Tim will leave it all out on the court tonight. And if they win, he will do the same in game 7. I will never question his determination. I wish Lamarcus had Duncans heart, leave it all on the court.

Either way, hopefully the moment will be worthy of the man. :toast

Thanks man.

2/3 of my life has been with Duncan as a Spur. It will honestly take some getting used to watching the Spurs without him whenever he decides to hang it up. I truly hope he comes back as an asst coach or a big mans coach or whatever just to see him on the bench helping the team.

He could keep helping Lamarcus and any other big man that comes to replace his position.

Still, I think, the most remarkable Tim Duncan stat of them all:

In the 20 NBA seasons for the Spurs before Tim's arrival, the franchise (which had made 4 runs to the conference finals) had played at total of 119 playoff games.

The Duncan Spurs have more playoff wins than the pre-Duncan Spurs had playoff games.

In the 19 NBA seasons with Tim Duncan, the Spurs have played in 255 playoff games (and won 158 of those) . . . and counting . . . .

Truly amazing. The longevity is remarkable. Especially since he just keeps winning.

I mean with Duncan as a Spur we've seen others come and go but Tim just keeps winning:

Kobe/Shaq
Kobe/Pau
Garnett/Marbury
Garnett/Paul/Rondo
Lebron/Wade/Bosh
Nash/Nowitski
Kidd/Martin
Nowitski/Terry/Howard
Nowistki/Chandler
Nash/Staudomire
Wallace/Wallace/Prince/Billups/Hamilton
...and i'm sure theres others that I can't think of

Mixed feelings.

I've said before I'm not readly to watch the Spurs without him on the court. Also, he seems to enjoy every minute of a game.

But at the same time, his kids demand time, he's dealing with pain in his knees...

Hope he finds off-court challenges in his post-retirement new life, because he deserves to be happy.

IDK...I just love him.

As much as I love the other guys who contributed a lot to this team, it'd be shame if there's a stature outside AT&T and it's not Duncan alone.

He's done more for this franchise than anyone else. He deserves to go down as the all-time Spur.

Tim's humility makes that so, but it doesn't really mean it should be the big 3.

That's like Worthy being next to Magic and Kareem, or Parish having a statue... you don't get one for being the third best player on a bunch of great teams..not when you have a top 10 player ever who was the lead dog on all of the title squads.
