Hope people don't mind the early game thread, but I wanted to make this one.

Nothing fancy in this post. I'm done analyzing the games. SA, despite everything bad, has been in every game. I have no doubt they are capable of winning.

Good shots, bad shots I no longer care. Make shots. Fight. Win.

Come back home and make them take this from you in front of your fans.

I'm good with this. Mix things up a little bit. We need all the luck we can get since it'll be 5 on 8 tomorrow.

Spurs need to leave it all on the court. They may surprise themselves what that can lead to.

Spurs won't go down without a fight. They are obvious dogs at this point, but one good team performance can make some OKC sphincters pucker up during game 7. It is not over yet.

If Timmy and Manu go out like this, so be it. They have nothing to be ashamed of. 5. In another universe it was 7. In another, only 3. The Spurs future is still bright. You can't pick who you cheer for in June after it is all over. Some more changes will be made and they will be playing again next May.

GO SPURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just show fight & make shots. That's it. Spurs have done everything else enough to win games. Sure, if SA does better on the boards then they win. Sure, if they actually get equal calls when they deserve they win. Sure, if Waiters remembers he's a 39%FG shooter they win.

But again, even with all of that, Spurs were in every game and missed so many open looks that it shouldn't matter. Make shot. Everyone step up, focus and just execute on the easy ones. No one is asking you to throw in 3's at the buzzer like WB. No one is asking you to flip in backwards over the head shots like Adams. Just make your well executed open looks at a normal clip and you win.

Some interesting stats so far:

Uncontested vs Contested Field Goal Series Total:

OKC: 177 total uncontested shots though 5 games - shooting 43% on those
SAS: 221 total uncontested shots through 5 games - shooting 48% on those

That means, on average, SA is creating 9, that's right, 9 more uncontested shots than OKC per game. That is huge and shows the point many have made about SA just missing good looks.

OKC: 226 total contested shots through 5 games - shooting 46% on those
SAS: 205 total contested shots through 5 games - shooting 44% on those

OKC is making tough shots. They have more contested shots than uncontested but are hitting at higher clip on the contested ones. SA has more uncontested shots, but leaving plenty on the table despite shooting decently well on the wide open ones.

He said it looks like OKC figured SA out. I showed him that stat to try and apply context that while OKC has definitely been more engaged & active, that SA's amount of uncontested looks have remained pretty constant. He just flipped out.

He and Matt Moore have this thing where they troll Spurs fans and I responded to a few things and he got mad. Specifically he was retweeting Matt Moore trolling Spurs fans about the missed WB call at the end. They were saying "he didn't wrap him up".

I asked if LMA wrapped up WB on that And-1 because evidently if you don't wrap up, it's not a foul. He got mad that I tweeted him 4 times explaining why it's not cool to mock Spurs fans for being upset when most agree it was a foul and the NBA report acknowledged it was a foul.

Oh well. Adds to the fire of everyone outside of SA wanting SA to go down. Hope SA pulls it off.

Bad ending to Duncan/Manu era: Spurs lose to GSW in 5.

Perfect ending to Duncan/Manu era: Spurs lose game 6/7 on a controversial ref call confirming anti-Spurs conspiracies and leading Tim to walk off the court and declare NBA is now FIBA and he'll never play again. And then drop the mic.

Great take Darius! At this point I think the Thunder are a much tougher matchup than the Warriors at this point. Lack of great rebounding seems like what is our weakness. Spurs will be able to slow down against them, and rebound much better against them. Our perimeter defense will do fine against them.

I agree. Rebounding should not be an issue against Bogut or Green. Adams and Kanter have just been murdering us on the boards. I just want Pop to put Boban in and just have him fuck around with Adams. Put a body on him and knock him around. Because apparently the Bigs we have been playing can't do that. We need Game 1 Spurs tonight. We need Green's threes. We need vintage Manu penetrations. We need Tim's defense and rebounding. Aldridge and Leonard can get their's tomorrow. It's the others who need to show.

To be fair, the Warriors haven't had too many close games. OKC in overtime, Spurs win here at home. We just need to beat OKC and then keep it close against the Dubs to give us a shot at beating them late in the game.

We've seen Portland be able to jump on the Dubs early. They led the game at halftime each of the last 3 games against them. They just run out of gas, having to play exceptionally good to make it a game. Spurs can do that too, and have a deeper bench than Portland to give our starters more breathers.

This series has been very unpredictable, but I do believe they defeat the Thunder twice in a row to advice.

It reminds me of the Mavs series in 2014.

I'll watch, hoping Timmy/Manu will go out like champs, turn the clock one last time before it's tied up with 2 mins left, Tony misses a jumper, Kawhi loses a ball, Westbrook get FTs for being looked at, Adams flops, etc.

I do believe the Spurs will win this series. Just cut out all the boneheaded shit and play Spurs basketball. Maybe the NBA wants this series to go to 7 so they'll ref in our favour tonight? Who the hell knows with this shit officiating. Just in case it is the last game I decided to up the stakes and places 2 lopsided bets in the Spurs favour.

1st bet: $50 on Spurs to win by 21-25. The odds are 29-1 so if we win by 21-25 I win $1450.
2nd bet: $50 on Spurs to win by 26-30. The odds are 71-1 so if we win by 26-30 I win $3550.

So go the mighty fucken Spurs! Get this game! Fucken smash them and make them head to San Antonio for game 7 a shattered mess of a club. Go the mighty fighting fucken Spurs. This game means so much to win, if we lose it's likely Tim and Manu's final game/s, fuck that! I'm not yet ready to say goodbye to 2 of my idols. Let's fucken crush them and then take care of business on our home court in game 7.

Go the mighty fighting fucken Spurs!! Let's do this! (oh yeah, it'd also be great to win by 26-30, do it for Russo21! I could do with $3550 lol)

It can't end like this.

I'll never forgive Pop if it ends like this.

One thing is him being stubborn and not adjusting anything, a whole other is the overall disrespect shown to Tim and Manu this series.

Both legendary winners who's sacrifices and leadership have defined what Spurs winning culture and success is all about.

Meanwhile in this series we're more like what the Thunder are known for and quite frankly playing like losers with minimal impact from Tim and Manu.

It doesn't get more disrespectful than that and Pop needs to make things right.

Time is running out quickly.

Same here.

Then at the same time for the first time ever it is hitting me that seeing Tim and Manu, for the first time both of them, whether you think it's them being neglected or just too old, impacting playoff games so minimal like we're seeing now, that is something more negative than even retirement and I definitely thought that I'd never want them to retire. But what we're seeing now hurts.

But then what is most frustrating is that I STILL think they can do a lot more than this. Their advanced numbers once again are excellent this season, Manu's continues to be in the playoffs and we've seen them play at a high level many times this season. Way better than players who retire from the NBA.

Players this good still, they don't retire!

Yet it feels like Pop more than anyone is the one very busy retiring them before our very eyes.

What I wanted more than anything from this game was Pop making a major go-small adjustment to kick-start our offense that is so bad right now it rates among the worst in the league, however if this really is the end I want Pop to give his greatest winners Tim and Manu a real chance to impact this fucking series and turn things around.

These legendary warriors should not die seelping in their beds but die out on the battlefield fighting trying to win the war.

Perhaps no team in the history of the NBA has ever shown more heart and fight and resolve than the 2013 Spurs did, rallying from their soul-crushing Game 6 Finals loss in Miami to play an epic Finals Game 7 on the road against a defending champion and taking that game down to the last minute. Many NBA teams -- even those with players with championship pedigrees -- would have rolled over after a debacle like Game 6. Those Spurs nutted up, played their asses off for 48 minutes, and gave themselves a chance to win against all odds.

That's been the thing with the Duncan/Ginobili/Parker Spurs for most of this run: when they get into bad spots, they may not always extricate themselves from those circumstances, but they do always play hard and seemingly give themselves at least a chance. Game 5 in Detroit in 2005. Games 5 and 6 (and even Game 7) against Dallas in 2006. Games 6 and 7 against New Orleans in 2008. Game 7 in Miami in 2013. Game 6 in OKC in 2014. The titles these guys have won are great, but the real character of this group down through the years has tended to shine brightest when the chips were down (even if they didn't always win those games).

Play hard. Play with belief. Play with purpose.

That dude was amazing in Game 6. The officials made sure we didn't win however. I hope we come out with that same desperation that we did in that game. At this point everything is against us.
Like 2004 like 2008 - I feel like we lost much needed air. 'We' as the Spurs I mean.

Spurs look tired and outmatched big time. Plus OKC playing best ball of the year and Donavan doing great job.

Now OKC is a team that feeds of the crowd - they are gonna go hard big time and they gonna get whistles as well with Callahan being home ref . /no homo/

btw. It's so frustrating that this year was the best in our history , yet we are losing not to the greater opponent but an opponent that has bad matchups. We were built to defeat GS but from the West came Thunder and strike us big time

I personally think this thing is over..Spurs have lost other times playing (and coached) better than what has transpired here after G1 in this series..(Actually they put a better fight against the Clippers with all documented handicaps last season)..

You just get the feeling the Thunder have grown confident with each game and after each Spurs' self-aborted run...They are going to ride the crowd and refs to clinch the series..They won't pull a Hornets and we don't have a Wade in our roster..

What I'm most interested in is the window we are going to get into future of the Spurs in this game..what the main core of LMA/Kawhi, is made of ? will they go down swinging or just completely shrivel? If it is the latter, then dark days are ahead us before even TD/Manu officially call it a day..

If they both know that they are retiring they should tell the team before this game. No need to let the media know, just teammates. If they retire without telling the team before this game, that's just wasted motivation.

So OKC has had calls go in their favor. Confidence growing. Hitting big shots from all of their players. Rebounding well. More free throws in 4 out of 5 games and yet? SA has been in every game, including the past two with double digit leads.

OKC may have confidence. They may be hitting shots. They may present rebounding problems. They are getting calls. They are dominating the free throw disparity. Spurs are still right there. The Spurs have the higher ceiling to change fortunes.

Okc beat us 4 times in a row in 12

That was when they had Harden and we didn't have Aldridge or Prime Leonard.

As long as they win by at least 1 point, nobody cares except us.

Media will praise the crap out of them.
