5th best team in the league, tbh :lol...Lack of versatility, too dependent on Old vets (mainly TD/Gino) and a washed up bench

GSW > CLE > OKC > Clippers (healthy)> Spurs

this team basically fattened up both record and point differential in a cupcake first 3 months..

Good thing the Warriors won 73, otherwise the playoff collapse would have been even more embarrassing.

No way. I think we beat Cle or Clips this year, and OKC only just beat us. It was fucking close. Bounce of the ball goes the other way on one or two possessions and we win games 2 and 5 and the series. Everyone is forgetting there was a lot of terrible luck in game 2 and 5 losses.

Also, the most overrated team would be the 67 win Mavs team that lost in round 1.

Keepin' it real

There's no such thing as an overrated team in the NBA. Every team plays each other. Hence, no ratings/rankings. Those 67 wins were legit.

In college basketball, they use rankings based on opinions; that's where you find overrated and underrated teams.

Capisce?

Cavs would've beaten the Spurs too, they're much hungrier.

the decline of the bench throughout the season lowered our teams ceiling. I hate taking the pessimistic route when supporting the Spurs, but people like Amused called the comparison to 2011 Spurs. The only difference is this year's West was shitty that the Spurs were still able to put up wins despite looking mediocre.

2007 Mavericks beg to differ...

2016 Spurs were more overrated and it isn't even close. It's all about matchups. The Mavs ran into the one and only team in the NBA that matched up well against them. The Spurs played an elite team. The Spurs were flirting with record breaking point differentials before finishing at 10.6. The Mavs finished with a PD of 7.2. The Spurs lost 1 home game while the Mavs lost 5. I could go on like this......

yep..For much of the season, Spurs were put on the same pedestal as the 73-win pace Warriors who were equally put the same pedestal with 96 Bulls as the GOAT team..

never had that debate opened with regard to '07 Mavs, '09 Cavs...

Yeah it is, and when you lose to a Thunder team (possibly our worst matchup) on a couple of bullshit calls and bad bounces of the ball that doesnt make you overrated. The MAvs werent even close in that series. They got thoroughly dominated by an 8 seed. So you can go suck a dick tbh.

Elite team's were the Spurs kryptonite especially on the road (0-1 cleveland, 1-4 OKC, 0-1 LAC, 0-1 Toronto, 0-2 GSW) All of those games either featured the Spurs struggling to score, getting blown out or in some cases, both. Nobody was talking about how OKC was a bad matchup coming into the series. IIRC, most expected the Spurs win in 5 or 6. Spurs had chances to win games 2, 4 and 5 but failed because they didn't make enough plays down the stretch. And you want to turn around and blame the refs? Cry me a river!

I thought a week later would give more perspective. I guess not. Spurs played arguably the third best team in the second round and were a few crucial calls from a game 7 in SA. It's disappointing to lose, but if we had Portland, Miami, or Atlanta in the second round, we'd have advanced. Just bad luck that GS had an incredible season and thus an easy road and the east mostly sucks. I still think we are one of the 4 best teams and had a good shot at going all the way. Just luck went against the Spurs. Winning titles requires being good and getting lucky.

Lol, you are such a faggot if you think they didnt get handed at least one game by the refs. And of those "road losses" only the Cleveland one and the playoff games to OKC are legit. The rest were either right at the start of the season or we didnt even field a full team. But hey dont let that stop you from using it as proof of why we were the worst team in the league disguised as a 67 win team. gtfo faggot

The league is watered down, that's why. Spurs weren't really a true 67 win team. Their record against the best of the best, elite contenders was terrible. This should have been an indicator before the playoffs started. Until they can beat OKC, Warriors, Clippers, Cavs then it will be a long time until they can contend. Their backcourt is weak, they need a center and a bench, just too many components missing for them to be a contender.

Agreed, pretty much every team was trash outside of OKC/SA/GS/CLE. The Clippers were solid but Blake Griffin ultimately killed that team with his slew of injuries.

What happened in 2015 and 2016? Did we ever get Aldridge? Did Tim retire after beating Miami? Did Miami win in 2014? Did Miami ever break up? Is Cleveland still a shithole? So many unanswered questions.

how long have most of you guys been spurs fans? We only have 5 titles. Have you guys always acted like this after a playoff loss or did a lot of you just become fans this season when we got Aldridge and West?

Exactly. The fans shouldn't overreact to this loss.

Tim was the best player of his generation, the best PF to ever play the game, he has played 19 seasons and won 5 titles.

So I guess the Spurs were eliminated in 14 playoffs series in his Era and it was still the greatest Spurs Era.
