Why is a Suns fan talking shit about the Spurs and folding? This is pretty funny tbh being the Spurs raped your team yearly in the 00's when they met in the playoffs... You have nary room like Thread would say nor a pot to piss in. Suns missed the playoffs too this year, again why are you talking?

Your team is terry cloth sir.... That means very soft.

Your no D playing D' Anphoni gimmick teams got you 0 titles and your still upset over the ass whippins, take it out years later. Your frustration is still very much evident. Like I said look at the trophy's, they haven't always folded to get 5 of those things in there. How many finals did the Suns make with that team? I will wait.

Porker spending that entire series chucking almost as many shots as prime Duncan and bricking most of them was what really killed the Spurs. Manu's foul was just the final nail in the coffin.

If there has, I don't remember it. Still, it wasn't the only reason they lost. That series shouldn't have even gone 7 games, but Porker's chucking, Manu and Horry screwing up a simple handoff at the end of Game 3, and the refs (Duncan fouling out in Game 3 for breathing in the vicinity of Dirk, Finley getting T'd up for no reason in Game 4, the Mavs being gifted 125 free throws in Games 3, 4 and 5 alone) all deserve mention as well. It's ironic that Mav fans still cry so hard about the Finals that year, because that series against the Spurs was full of bullshit calls that all went the Mavs' way.

Its so bad that when they finally did beat us back in 2010, Nash went into the locker room and cried, cried because he finally slayed the dragon that was living rent free in his head his whole fucking career. Suns fans have had everything they have ever dreamed of taken by us and the Mavs. And 07 was the cherry on top of the shit sundae for them because those suspensions left them with the worst kind of hurt, the hurt of what could have been, they never had a better chance than that year to ring. :cry We completely fucking own that franchise's souls, I love it. :lol

Suns did finally beat the older Spurs and got past their demon, a small reward for all those years of ass kicking and heart breaks. They then proceed to go lose in the Conference finals because no team who beats SA wins it all since 2004, it's a curse and a F U by the bball Gods for beating the great Spurs. The curse is real, Thunder about to receive it this year as well :lol.

I can see why he is mad though, they thought they had us in 07 until the suspensions and then they add Shaq to the line up and they proceed to get their ass kicked 4-1 in the 2008 series to shut their fans and teams mouths up about 07. They never had a shot man :)

That 06 series was one of the worst reffed series I have ever seen as a fan and I swear after one of the games Charles on TNT yelled NBA Refs suck man, that was the game Tim fouled out with Dirk stepping on his damn foot. Do not forget the Finley tech as well later getting taken away and they lost in OT, Pop then says that means we win by a point now right? Mavs fans had some nerve whining about the refs after that series, like they forget and were robbed but in reality never should have been there in the first place if that series in the 2nd round was not called so bad. Glad someone remembers that now, it seems to be forgotten and all I hear is they were robbed in the 2006 finals with calls, Karma...........

He never wore his Phoenix jersey again and he stopped watching the NBA for a year after that series. It was as if he just accepted it and we didn't have to discuss the series when it was over. I think he hated the Spurs so bad deep down inside but he gave the Spurs props after the 05 title and said you must have had fun on your B day man at the beach and the Spurs winning the title, dude was actually cool. I bet after 07 he got sick of it though tbh. BTW LOL at the Duncan three, that was just more fuel to the fire man, it was like they were cursed against the Spurs and they knew it. That measly win in 2010 was little consolation to be honest, their prime years were done already and wasted and the Spurs ruined their shot at a title a few times. In 07 they win it easily, that one for sure was a definite title. I think in 2005 Detroit might edge them though but we never know because they got beat 4-1 by the Spurs.

They almost got us man, if not for Horry's heroics or a game 7 rally by the Spurs they had us........ That was too close for comfort, that team would not go away and never got rattled. That series was intense.

We lost, OKC was hungrier in that series and had a lot more to prove. And really honestly, they had a chance to be the best team to close out with a title this season— they folded more than we ever did in their own game 6, and that includes the infamous 6.

Your old dad told ya's they fucked up when they didn't end it at Game 2. That was their moment. Their moment. Push all your chips into the middle of the table and go. But, they were sated and came out cocky and distracted, repudiating Media, showing them that they could do it.

Its sad that Spurs fan cant appreciate what we witnessed last night. The contrast in the performances of the Dubs and Spurs was quite eye opening.

You would EXPECT San Antonio to show more grit than they do. Its the home of the Almao after all. Those guys didnt go down without a fight and we memorialized them for their bravery.

But in the Spurs case, they dont just go down, they go down without a fight:

http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/200105270LAL.html

I think it stems from the different coaching philosophies. I once saw a nationally televised game in which Greg Popovich yanked Manu Giniobili, got nose-to-nose and proceeded to scream at him till he was red in the face. Above all else, you follow his instructions. The Spurs dont fight, the Spurs OBEY. And the most frequent command they are given is "heel".

Their opponents have learned that if you back them into a corner, this dog will put its tail between its legs. Shout "Roll Over" and they will do so. Its simply how they've been trained.

Steve Kerr, on the other hand, gives his guys a much longer leash. He knows basketball is an extremely dynamic game with an infinite number of scenarios that could play out. The players, ultimately, have to control their own destiny.

Klay Thompson swished a 30 foot three pointer off his back foot with 15 seconds left on the shot clock. That takes guts, even if youre feeling it.

The Thunder shouted "ROLL OVER" but this time they got their nuts bit off.

I'm a huge fan of the Bosa pick. I was worried that Telesco would do the usual Chargers move and splurge on the flashy skill-position guy (Ramsey) instead of building through the trenches. We have a scary pass rush now, lots of young talent on defense, so there are no more excuses for Pagano. He needs to field a defense that shows up all year long, not just in December to save his job.

For the first time in years, I actually love the Chargers' draft overall. I'm excited to see Hunter Henry too, provided McCoy actually gives him a chance to play instead of gluing him to the bench like he did with Ladarius Green. Gates is one of the greatest tight ends of all time, but he's getting old now and won't be playing forever, so it's time to start developing the next great Chargers TE. And Max Tuerk was a steal in the third round. Dude is crazy athletic and can play multiple positions on the O-line, which we really need, since our O-line gets destroyed by injuries every year. The only concern is that he's coming off an injury himself. Hopefully it's just a fluke and not a trend.

Not sure we're a playoff team yet, we're probably another strong draft away from doing anything, but I actually like the direction that the Chargers are going in for once.

IMO, it's not a fold at all. OKC has been in every single game with a chance to win. They aren't losing or winning because they folded or overcame. They are going to lose or win because they are a great team that has been in every single game. They aren't choking even in their losses. They gave themselves two legit shots to knock GS out and they have a third tonight.

It's not right nor fair to call them a team that has folded. Even if they lose tonight.

That last game, in that last 4 minutes, they choked. They were out of sorts. It wasn't ball pressure or anything other than the moment. You could see halfway through the 4th that both KD and Russell were improvising and hoping it would all end. That's when Donovan should have steadied the ship and talked them in, but he just spectated. Scott Brooks could have spectated. Probably did.

DPG21920
05-30-2016, 11:20 AM
I disagree. OKC had TO problems vs SA in the last 4 minutes of games but SA missed shots, there were some blown calls and guys like Waiters nailed enough shots to overcome the mistakes. OKC had those same problems all year long too with blown 4th Q leads due to their style of play.

It's who they are & that is not choking. Throughout the entire game, both 5 & 6, OKC had a legit shot to win. Choking is being the clear cut better team and totally shrinking in the moment. OKC had a 3-1 lead and played two really solid knockout games that they came up short on. That is not choking at all to me.

What we are seeing is the stuff that has been coming up aces regressing to the mean. Waiters has been a stud all playoffs, but been a no-show the last 2 games. That's who he's been all year long (and career) so far so it's not a choke, but regression to the mean.

OKC is a high TO team, especially in the 4th, again, it's regression to the mean. Not even so much that as it is them being punished in a similar fashion for those things. They were there all season long, vs SA & GS. Now GS is making some of the shots they were just missing, OKC bench is playing closer to what they did all year and they are losing the coin toss games that they had been winning at a crazy rate.

Thunder waltzed through game 5. That's what did them in. They presumed they'd get home cookin' back in OKC and many times the two ended up on their asses under the rim with a blue jersey streaking the opposite way, with the ball.

They could pull it out still, but in order to do so they have to play loose. Conservative play isn't their nature, and when they try they fail.

da_suns_fan
05-30-2016, 06:35 PM
IMO, it's not a fold at all. OKC has been in every single game with a chance to win. They aren't losing or winning because they folded or overcame. They are going to lose or win because they are a great team that has been in every single game. They aren't choking even in their losses. They gave themselves two legit shots to knock GS out and they have a third tonight.

It's not right nor fair to call them a team that has folded. Even if they lose tonight.

(especially of a sports player or team) suddenly stop performing well or effectively.

What the Warriors did was the literal definition of folding.

- Lost the potential closeout game 5 on their home floor by 15 points. (muh Draymond. The Cavs were starting Richard Jefferson, for Christ's sake).

- Raymond returns. The Warriors lost another closeout game, this time by 14.

- Game 7. On their home floor. They open up a 4 point lead with 5:40 left to play. They score a 2 whole points the rest of the way.

Yeah, I think that qualifies as "when a player or team suddenly stops playing well or effectively."

To "Fold" means to bend or yield to outside pressure. To show no resistance. To Fold.

The Spurs folded because they got blown out in their elimination game. They conceded defeat. They didnt even "show up".

You were talking about games 5 and 6 as examples of them folding. They obviously didnt fold in game 7 (20 lead changes and 11 ties) so you tried to use the entire series as a metaphor for folding but that makes no sense considering they were up 3-1.

Are you dumb? Have you ever played poker? You can fold in two ways. You can indeed fold without playing the hand. Or you can fold under pressure from an opponent raising and re-raising you. Also, the poker metaphor isn't really used for sports (poker isn't a sport).

lol @ duh_suns_fanboy

You can start a thread like this when your crappy team actually wins something and joins the club. Although I don't see that ever happening. lol

Are you dumb? Have you ever played poker? You can fold in two ways. You can indeed fold without playing the hand. Or you can fold under pressure from an opponent raising and re-raising you. Also, the poker metaphor isn't really used for sports (poker isn't a sport).

Oh.

a. To give in; buckle: a team that never folded under pressure.

It is what it is bro. Youre gonna have to deal with it.

The Spurs folded.

It wont be the last time. Thats just how your team plays.

Shouldn't you be defending the Spurs? You know, since you always defend the loser and all.
