Too much is expected from the starters. In particular Durant and Westbrook. Playing every other day has been the turning point in this series. The exhaustion started in game 5. But especially the 4th quarter tonight. They ran out of gas. The Warriors are deeper and their style is less demanding.

Bench is overrated by retarded media. No legit backup PG on the roster.Still lack another knock down shooter like Ray Allen was to Miami.

They could've used another day off. No doubt about it. They need more scorers off the bench. Which is why their regular season record isn't that impressive.

I agree. Cam Payne looks like a good PG prospect, but they need another legit shooter or two off the bench, especially if they plan on keeping Roberson.

they couldnt hang on for 2 minutes thread. just 2 more minutes of high intensity basketball and they couldnt even do that. they expended all that energy beating the spurs and cornering the warriors on their own court. they had them in their own turf and they couldnt cope for 2 more minutes. fucking baffling. I havent seen a team throw it away so easily since my own did in game 6.

OKC's shot selection is abysmal. Particularly KD and Westbrook, but at least KD gets hot late in games. This is the umpteenth time this year Westbrook has completely shit the bed in the 4th. It's the reason they are a 55 win team. Westbrook is a fucking cancer.
Meanwhile, HarlemHeat and BigDog are fucking NOWHERE on the boards tonight. :lmao Will BD ever post again? I'd guess no.

So the fact that Westbrook is even routinely called out by his own fanbase for 4th quarter heroball and the what, 17?, 4th quarter leads they've blown this year mean nothing?
Spin it however you want. OKC has two of the best players in the world, AND their role players showed up tonight. Champions close this game out. Westbrook isn't a champion because he's never found a way to trust his teammates in the clutch.
It's been said before. You can't have a player that *loses* you games in the playoffs if you want to win a title. Westbrook will win games, but he'll lose them for you too. And against an elite team, that doesn't get it done.

Peachy analysis there Fail, err... Bail.. what's your name again? Pappy?
They lost because their coach doesn't know the difference between a point guard and Kevin Durant. I predicted each turnover when he was handling the ball. It was so easy to do. The game started off with Durant handling the ball and RW just hanging around. RW has to attack relentlessly and make the defense collapse on him. He did that very sparingly tonight, I never saw the slave rage I've seen from him in the past. KD on the other hand tried to do everything. Nowhere was Waiters or Roberson on offense. Adams was a fucking beast but Ibaka was missing.
Still, Thunder had momentum and could have gone up 20 or more if they didn't get too carried away on the fast breaks, allowing the crowd to determine their tempo. It's a coaching issue. He'll get better, but right now he's amazed he's in the WCF.

Bullshit, Donovan choked as much as the players did. The first time they started just trying to dribble out clock with 4:30 left Donovan should have called timeout and lit into his team. Instead he just kept letting them iso and hold the ball until there was 10 seconds or less on the shot clock, and then they end up having to force horrible shots to beat the clock. It's exactly what the Clippers did in Game 5 in 14 and the results were the same. Donovan got scared just like Durant and Westbrook. You don't run clock only up 7 with 4:30 left. You can run clock up 15 with 2:30 left, but 7 points ain't shit in the NBA. Billy could get away with that crap in the NCAA, but not in the show.

At some point in the next 36 hours hours they'll realize it's still within their grasp, within their sway to eradicate last night from the face of the earth. That's a powerful truth. Grab on to that living principle and go to work in that arena. Sure, they can stop OKC from imposing their will, but, they can't stop them from exacting their effort. And if the refs would have called an even game, he would have had about 6 fewer free throws. It balances out. The refs favor the Thunder more than any team in the league, don't blame their fuck ups on the guys in the stripes.
Last night was not about coaching. It was all about failure to execute the simplest of tasks on the court.
When KD took the rebound with about 50 seconds to go, down 5 or so, they should have called a timeout. They didn't. They seemed to be sleep walking through the final 4 minutes without no direction. That's coaching and timeout management. I like Donovan just fine, but he showed his lack of NBA experience right there.

In this supposed era of superior sports medicine and conditioning I refuse to believe these guys can't play a 37-40 minute game without getting gassed. These excuses just show even further how soft this era has gotten. The bump and grind physical contact that would wear a player down is significantly less now and these guys are still getting winded?

Combined with delegating -or not.
When OKC took it's 8 point lead, they were spreading the ball around. Durant could be a great decoy and fake shots and pass. He was terrible at that in the 4th qtr last night. Ditto Westbrook, altho Westbrook often does create for others.
Failure to use the rest of the team is in Durant and Westbrooks hands. They can't go Porker and blame the others for their ballhogging and turnovers.

I was disappointed with Billy Donovan for allowing the hero-balling to occur from the outset of the game and enabling Durant and Westbrook to take some incredibly stupid shots. If I were the coach and I saw Durant take an off-balanced 30+ foot heave I would have called timeout and lit his ass up for that terrible shot. If I see Westbrook heave a two hand shot/pass/whateverthefuckthatwas that clanks horribly off the rim I'm lighting his ass up. Donovan had been great at using his timeouts to reel his low IQ chuckers in when they play stupid but in Game 5 and 6 he regressed to Scott Brooks 2.0 and let those guys do whatever they wanted.

He didn't exactly put his players in a position to succeed though. He really was Scott Brooks 2.0 where he seemed content to ride his talent instead of doing some actual coaching. The late 4th quarter play calls where Durant or Westbrook held the ball for almost the entire shot clock and then tried to do some hero shit was the same failed stuff they've been doing the last 5 years. Their offense became predictable and they let GS's defense off the hook. The Warriors dug in and didn't have to move at all until they just collapsed on the hero of the moment. It also doesn't help to keep putting the ball in Durant's hands when he's a sub-par creator. They need to work him off screens for some catch and shoots in those situations.

It definitely the case of OKC letting GS off the hook down the stretch. Their offense was stagnant which allowed the Warriors to make some good defensive plays.

How far down were the Spurs in game one against GSW in 2013? Weren't we down double digits with about 4 minutes left and came back to force overtime and win that game. GSW have seen first hand that you can easily come back in that amount of time. I agree with you 100% as I've seen it first hand. 7 points is nothing. OKC completely fucked up trying to nurse that lead. It's all on them. I don't think fatigue played a huge role in it. OKC's approach to trying to hold that lead and playing idiotic low IQ ball did them in. It's all on them.
They still have one chance here to make it all right though, so we'll see what they are made of. Let's see if they can come back from this. I hope for their sake that they give it everything they have in game 7 and don't check out mentally before the game has even started. That's the key to games like that after a loss like this - you just can't check out mentally before the game has even started. You gotta believe 100% that you can go in there and win it. I'm curious to see what they're made of.
