View Full Version : Thunder: This one will sting them forever

You can look at the Spurs' 0.4, the 2006 foul on Dirk in Game 7, and 28 seconds of Game 6 in 2013 as being the biggest heartbreaking losses, but the Spurs went on to recover the following year in winning the championship each time, softening the blows of those three years.

There's just no sugar coating this one. OKC flat out choked, and choked bad. This isn't even 2002 Kings/Warriors, because that series was tied 2-2. They had a 3-1 lead. Had 3 opportunities to close it out. But Andre Roberson airballing two three pointers in crucial moments will do that to you.

I can't say that I feel too sorry for OKC. I would have given them props if they won this series, but the truth is they did not deserve to be in this series to begin with. As much as I would be happy for you winning, I'm not sorry you lost. You had the referees give you two games vs. the Spurs. It looks as if Kevin Durant cannot win in OKC. He should come join Aldridge and Leonard to take down GS next year.

They can always look back to running that isoball crap to take the clock down with 4 minutes left in Game 6. Why did they start running that garbage offense when everything was working so well for them until then? You can't try to run clock up only 7 that early, Golden State wasn't going to beat themselves. That was the fucking championship and OKC just shit themselves in the moment. It must really suck to be a Thunder fan.

Spurs hit a hit streak with ball movement and shooting that lasted a couple seasons. Guys changed, relaxed, were satisfied and cruised in the off season. It happens. Guys got older. 3 years is a lot when it's from 37 to 40. Also, other teams got better. You can't win every year. Even stacked teams don't win every year.

They flat out blew it and it will sting for a long time because I think they win it all if they just close out. The fact they have no rings to back it up and make the fans feel better as well will leave for a bitter taste in their mouths for a long time IMO. Spurs have choked some series and have had some very very very tough losses no doubt, but they run afterwards like you said.

Why you turning it around on us now? What do we have to with anything?

I'm surprised you ain't rallying about media feting OKC at loss. Nah, their booty holes didn't pucker, it was all about State's "resilience" and "heart," just a "historically great" team rising to the occasion. In fact, the Thunder should be celebrated for pushing them to 7 games!

warriors have been around for a few decades, no? unless your wisdom is centuries old. lets try this, OKC had 3 chances to win 1 game and advance to what might be the best shot at the city's lone title, with 1/3 being at home; the spurs had 2 chances to win 1 game, to bookend their incredible decade with their 5th. 0/2 games were at home.

also, 2014 happened which in itself speaks volumes regarding caliber of organizations/tendency to choke.
