If there's something that doesn't look right, then maybe have a mini trial or something. But he shouldn't have to spend time in jail because he killed a rapist in his own home. Nope. You don't go around presuming a guy who just killed someone who was fleeing was in the right. That's not the way it works. You let a trial bear out his innocence or guilt. Sure, you can give the man bail and shit, but there's no open-and-shut case about bludgeoning to death a guy who's not looking to fight.

He had 19 prior arrests and pleaded guilty sexually abusing a 17 year old. And stabbing her. He was in the guy's house about to rape his wife. He shouldn't be in jail right now. And shouldn't have to stand trial.

Not saying it's this easy for every instance. But in many cases, I can make a decision based on the initial information.

That's an awful alternative. The current legal system sucks, but the ideas behind it are good.
