I severely bottomed out on a massive bump on the southside. :depressed Now my car sounds all "rice-boy" and "fast and the furious" whenever I step on the accelerator. Nothing else is wrong with my car (no overheating, no check engine light, no leaks). I just can't deal with this extremely loud revving whenever I press on the gas! :pctoss Any car-savvy people out there that can tell me what I should check out under my hood first? Thanks in advance....

It by chance wasn't the speed bumps in front of Chinese Garded (across from South Park Mall) that caused this, was it?

Those are some rowdy speed bumps there.

Hole in your exhaust pipes running under your car?

probably put a hole in the muffler when you hit the bump.

checking under the hood is not the first place to check if you hit a bump, the undercarriage would be the first place Id look.

Muffler.

If it wasn't a muffler, you jut put a hole in the pipe that goes from your headers to your muffler.

Probably the pipe.

No, not those, it was some bumps in the King William/Brackenridge High School area.

If its the muffler, less that 100 at the MOST.

If its the pipe, probably a bit more. Not super expensive.

Sounds like a hole in the muffler if your car sounds "fast and furious" esque.

Between the muffler and or the headers. If your cheap just rub some Bondo over the hole or crack in the pipe. If your not cheap go take it to a muffler shop and heve them fix it. Shouldn't be very expensive. No more that $300 and that's a complete pipe and muffler.

I hope it isn't your catalytic converter!

I bet it's the passenger side front window.

My truck is messed up but I have no idea what it is. I'll probably have to go take it to the shop plus I need to get my cruise control fixed.

Sounds like you bent your O-ring between your exhaust pipe and your header when you bottomed out. Be careful about not being over-charged for something like this at one of these commercial muffler places. Should be less than $100. Better to take it too a mom-and-pop mechanic or small private shop.

I would also check to make sure I didn't bend my oil pan and If you have one, your tranny fluid pan.

Thanks everyone for all your help. I have a friend at work whose husband is a mechanic and he said more than likely its my manifold gasket and/or flex pipe, which he said he'll charge me $40-$80. He's even going to pick up my car from work and leave me his car as a "loaner"! If its that cheap, I'll probably just throw in some dinner for their family or buy him a case of beer too!

Pipes are easy to fix. Just cut it off, and weld another one on.

No, I'm sorry ... I have no idea why he said what he did, but my back window is off the track or something and it keeps falling down, I need to get it fixed but I know it will cost a fortune... :oops :lol

Did he pick up your car yet? :)
