what can possibly be done to help these poor bastards?
trade Carr for Vinny Testaverde and hope for Leinart to be good by 2008

It's kinda hard to complete a pass when your offensive line doesn't give you any time to throw. Not sure if that was the case today, but that was definitely the case in their first 2 games.

Thats the most obvious statement in nfl history.

The only way it will get better is if they either bring in all new guys for their OL or start telling the OL they do have that their paychecks are directly related to how many sacks they give up.

I also hate watching their conservative offense that uses alot of running plays down the middle. They need to take more chances on offense.

Carr should sit a game or two. Put Tony Banks in. Fire Capers if they go 0-4.

mookie2001
10-03-2005, 10:48 AM
I dont see how tony banks could do worse
they could use kasey studdard, jonathan scott and will allen, justin blaylock

midgetonadonkey
10-03-2005, 01:30 PM
I don't see them firing Capers during the season. Who is out there to replace him? I think this is his last year with the team and than they will bring in another coach to try and make Carr seem like he isn't a bust. I think he could be a good QB if he doesn't get sacked 7 times a fucking game. God damn Texans O-Line. They fucking blow.

The franchise name is so stupid.. "Texans"....

Make em the friggin OIL'ers... but no. it's too politically incorrect...

Drafting Matt Leinart would be dumb.

All they would do is ruin Leinart the way they did Carr by getting him sacked so often he feels the rush even when it's not there.

Blow up the whole team and start over from scratch like it's 2002, excpet this time don't sign high-paid veterans with career-threatening injuries.

No one thinks the name "Texans" is friggin stupid?

Also designed to keep San Antonio out of NFL..

It wouldn't have been my first choice.

However, it's like the sixth football franchise called "Texans."

well according to espn Leinart is the greatest quarterback of all time.
i guess they could take a tackle or a tailback
but they would still suck

its the fifth that I know of.

There was the NFL's Dallas Texans who were the New York Yankees (yes there was a New York Yankees football team) which moved to Dallas in 1952 and then folded in 1953 and were moved to Baltimore and became the Colts.

The AFL's Dallas Texans who moved to KC in 1963 and became the Chiefs.

The original Houston Texans in the World Football League in 1975

and the San Antonio Texans CFL team in 1995.

Its pathetic the 4th or 5th largest city in America can't get their shit straight with their football teams. The Oilers were dumped on by all their fans and that drove that team to Nashville. Now this Texans experiment comes to Houston and its like the Saints from the 70's!
In the age of free-agency this shit should not be happening!

Thank god Houston has the Astros! .... sure the Rockets too.

I also hate watching their conservative offense that uses alot of running plays down the middle. They need to take more chances on offense.

You can't take chances on offense if your offensive line doesn't block anyone. The more intricate the play, the longer it takes to develop; the deeper the pass, the more time you need. The Texans could call all the 7-step drops they want to, but Carr will get destroyed because those plays take a long time to develop and, obviously, that line has no prayer of holding up for 4, 5, or 6 seconds. It can't hold up on 3 and 5 step drops.

They can't even run play action stuff at this point, mostly because there's no credible threat to make defenses bite on any fakes -- plus, the fake just requires more time, which requires that the O-line hold blocks longer.

They almost have to be conservative to have a chance to win any game -- quick-hitting runs (i.e., middle runs; dives, bellies, traps) and short, controlled passes.

The Houston Texans sucked the minute I heard they were a team. The franchise should move where they could have a chance at winning their state moreless a game.

David Carr really pisses me off
he wants to be a pretty boy qb but cant do shit
I like the Texans, they are my home team
but I don't really like the NFL

The Texans suck THIS year. Don't know where you hate comes from but the past three seasons they were progressively getting better. What would moving them do?

Nevertheless, i'm still a Texans fan. Their nosedive this year is a bitch to watch. They remind me of those first Tampa Bay teams. Time to borrow the paper bag idea from the Saints.

Texan fans can only hope that Houston management will have the balls to draft Lienart.

10-09-2005, 11:40 PM
They dont need a new QB, they need a new dam coach. Also when the draft comes around they should get another reciever to compliment Johnson, if there isnt anyone that jumps out they should for sure take Reggie Bush.

midgetonadonkey
10-09-2005, 11:44 PM
They need an O-Line. No point in taking any more offensive weapons if they can't give Carr 3 seconds to throw the damn ball. Riley got burned so many fucking times totday, it's fucking unreal. If Carr had some time he would be a really good QB. He is accurate, has arm strength and can take a fucking hit. They need to start putting together a line and they will be good.

scott
10-09-2005, 11:48 PM
They dont need a new QB

Yeah they do... Carr blows. I'd take Joey Harrington over Carr.

And they certainly need a new QB before they need Reggie Bush. Domanick Davis is a stud... or a diamond surrounded by trash.

shyne
10-09-2005, 11:49 PM
O-line is the #1 need but they should address that in Free Agency, no point in sending a rookie in their to watch Carr's back. They need another reciever or stud RB to take the pressure off the defense and keep them off the field. The line is actually pretty good and run blocking so with someone like Bush that offense can be explosive

Carr blows

O Line has nothing to do with it?? Interesting.

BTW Vashner.

They would call them the Oilers, but Bud Adams, owner of the Titans, owns the rights to the name Oilers, and doesn't want to give them up.

Thats why they are the Texans.

Yeah but Carr should be able to get the ball off quicker. He waits till it is too late to pass. 5-10 yard passes would be good and less running plays.

Exactly fucking right. If I was David Carr, I'd file a lawsuit against those assholes. What? Are they on someone else's payroll and the objective is to sacrifice the QB? Seems like it.

Marcus Bryant

They need a new O-line. Carr is a competent QB, he just needs more than 1 second to make a decision with the rock.

Still, if VYoung is on that draft board come next spring, it'd be hard to see the Texans pass him up.

At this point, it's probably best if they don't win any more. They got their one lone win to avoid being shut out for the season. Might as well use this as a rebuilding year and snag that top choice.
