The Los Angeles Lakers surprised a number of basketball fans during the 2015 NBA Draft when they elected to select D'Angelo Russell with the No. 2 overall pick.
While Russell showed flashes of brilliance during his rookie season in Los Angeles, the Lakers point guard also brought plenty of controversy to the locker room in the closing weeks of the regular season.
With that being the case, it sounds like Los Angeles' front office wouldn't be opposed to moving the former Ohio State Buckeyes standout if it will land them another selection in the top five of this year's NBA Draft.
- ESPN's Chad Ford (via James Herbert of CBS Sports)
"They've brought in Dragan Bender, Jaylen Brown, and while I still believe that it will be Ingram at No. 2, the Lakers have explored other options. And again I think the concern with Ingram is his lack of strength and how NBA-ready he's going to be because of that. I think more likely the Lakers are trying to pick up another pick in this draft in the top five and the guy that they have that they can shop is D'Angelo Russell, a guy who was their No. 2 pick in the draft last year but burned some bridges in the locker room."
At this point, it seems unlikely that the Lakers will be able to secure another top five pick in this year's draft for Russell alone but it says a lot that the franchise is already open to the idea of moving what was thought to be one of the cornerstones of their future.
We'll have to wait and see whether Los Angeles is able to get a deal done before Thursday night's draft.

While the short term lulz would be outstanding, I'm really hoping the Lakers hang on to D'Bust.
Need much more of this from scrub Laker 17 win teams

This cat lost his teammates, all of them. Snitching is of one black culture's 10 commandments. You break it, you're ostracized.

Rodman snitched on Robinson & lived to tell. Sure, Robinson really isn't black, but, he looks black.

I'm not hating. He had an awful rookie season. There was no brilliance. Was there some good moments? Sure. But "brilliance"? No.
It was literally worst case scenario for a rookie season picked that high outside of an injury. Terrible development culture. Really bad play 90% of the time. Lockerroom issues and trust issues along with massive immaturity.

His stat line is a near mirror image of Booker up the street & "we" wet our panties over him.

You know citing stats is the wrong way of looking at it. If you watched the games, you saw the differences. I'm not saying Russ is a bust. He showed capable moments. I'm just saying there was no brilliance - do you think there was?

Booker is a year younger than D'Bust, got picked in the mid-first-round and had zero expectations coming into the league. Your fellow Suns fans were ripshit at the front office for not drafting a power forward.
:lol Comparing a nobody to your second overall lottery pick

Nonetheless, their respective stat lines are a near match.

You weren't laughing when Rodman committed a wild cat strike in the middle of your playoff run though. Then it wasn't so funny.

Most points by a laker rookie in over 30 years is a flash of brilliance...again, are you not familiar with the term? You are speaking in total which has nada to do with flashes. At times his passing was brilliant he just did not do it enough. Hence the use of flashes ...

They need to lower the asking price. Just take a top twenty pick and walk away.

Plenty of talent in this draft to take a chance with in the first round, they dont really need the #5, although Dunn would be a good pickup.
