I know they were courting him. Damn. Looks like he's leaving.

Terrible news. Spurs have to upgrade the coaching staff too.

Damn, it feels like development staff is a lot more difficult to replace than an assistant coach. Maybe bring back TJ Ford? He seems to be doing player development at the youth level right now.

Is that a lateral move? It says Vogel tried to get Chauncey Billups as his lead assistant, and that he is looking for assistants among former NBA players who are assistants elsewhere. Then it says that he is talking about just bringing in two or three assistants, along with a player development person.

Put all that together, and it sounds a lot like Forcier would be doing the same thing he's doing in SA? I don't want to read too much into that, but damn.

Just keep Chip at all costs.
Whatever it takes. Don't lose Chip.

Probably a good bump in pay is all I can guess. Just keep Chip. Give that man a piece of the organization, if need be.

More like Kawhi and Kyle's development got Chad promoted. He's got a better job and role in a young team.

Yeah a good bump in pay and getting to live in not only a tax-free state, but the entertainment capital of that state.

Worse places to leave the stability of the Spurs for than Orlando.

He's moving from player development, and little chance to move up since he's behind Becky and udoka and chip. He'll be no further than third assistant and he won't have to share the headlines with chip.

I can see Tim as an assistant coach but maybe not in his 1st year after retiring. Who knows though, some people prefer to be at work.

He was a shitty X and O coach anyway. I'm sure there are a hundred assistant coaches that can run drills with players.

Son of a bitch. He along with Chip and obviously Pop were the only coaches I didn't want to lose. He was responsible for improving Kawhi's arsenal and I expected he would greatly improve the chances of Dejounte becoming an all-star level player. I know Becky is supposed to help our guys become better finishers around the rim and Chip is the shooting coach, but this rook needs polish everywhere in his game. Chad has developed Kawhi into one of the most fundamentally sound players in the NBA. If he's done that for a player with little to no offensive edge, what could he do with a player like Murray who has good offensive instincts but just bad habits? Maybe I'm overreacting, but isn't Chad the guy we would expect to develop our rookie? Can he be replaced?

Hmm I didn't think about it that way, but Dejounte indeed has flair. I don't know if he will coincide with MAnu either unfortunately. Manu is in the Olympics and still undecided.

And I know all the hype is currently about him bc he's new and so young, but we are also likely getting 2 or 3 other rookies who are young too and also need help. I don't care about X and O, he did great with his development work with the youngest pupils.

This is a tough blow to the gut. Chad is an excellent player development guy! He has helped a bunch of players to improve their overall game. When Kawai was drafted, right before the lockout, Chad hurriedly helped Kawhi get going - along with Chip, with things for Kawhi to work on during the lockout. Chad has also helped Kawai and others work on their post up game and ball handling skills.
