BY JEFF GARCIA, SPURS ZONEFRIDAY, JULY 1ST 2016

"I grew up bleeding green, a diehard Celtics fan," Bonner said Thursday (http://www.concordmonitor.com/), during his annual summer camp at Rundlett Middle School. "So at the end of my career to go back home and finish for the Celtics would be a storybook ending."

What is it with this guy? Why would the Celtics even entertain his "floor spacing"?
I guess Pop and R.C. reached a settlement and Bonner had to turn over the videos and photographs he was hanging over their heads?

We might have to give up Kawhi for a prize that big.

He's just being honest. Can't blame Bonner. Its not like he started here anyways. I know he loves to go to Boston for their sandwiches too, lol.

Indeed we would OV.

How the hell this guy has

been with the Spurs for 10 years is beyond me.

We ought to file a class action law suit for

pain and suffering against the Spurs for this shit.

I like him when he's just the smart, fun guy on the bench. I just object when he starts and shit, which is always a danger.

And the Celtics might like that as well. Bonner had the game of his life in Boston some years back. I think it was one of the last games of the year and Pop was resting starters. Bonner went nuts.

hmm This all of a sudden. Maybe the writing is on the wall for Matty that with all the youngsters Pop is bringing in from Europe there are no roster spots. He's already sent out his own feelers lol

Bad news for him - the Celtics roster is full. As in they'll have to trade or release several guys on guaranteed deals or get draft picks to stay overseas.

So this is why Matt stayed. I think he wanted to try and cash in some extra money during this crazy free agency period.

Edit : I will fly to the US and personally drive him to Boston from San Antonio.

Hope he gets that opportunity. He's had a good career with us. Made some decent cash. He was a good guy and player, just over utilized at one point by pop.

This guy is smart. Milking the system with all these 1,400,900 contracts. He seems like the guy that lives on a 60,000 budget and saves or invests the rest. Probably has more than some better players.

To be fair, if I were to be playing in the NBA and I spent my career with, oh say the Knicks, Wizards, and Clippers, it would be really fun to end my career with a Spurs contract. All of these players have a childhood favorite team. Maybe I'm wrong for thinking that and when you reach the NBA you have to have a different mindset...

My sources said Spurs already confirmed with Bonner he won't be returning. So He's tryna put his bid in with his hometown.

That is why I did not like him, him at starting C was a disaster but that is not his fault per say. That is on Pop for falling in love and over using this guy. He was a specialty player in the right match up, no more no less.

Not sure why he doesn't retire and work for the Spurs. I guess being at the end of the bench pays better.

Everyone has already taken all the obvious punch lines - yeah, I was ready for Bonner to end his career somewhere else a few years ago.

I don't want to stir up a bunch of cultural bullshit here, but his comment is no surprise. Bonner never showed any interest in putting down roots here. Boston is perfect for him. People talk about him working for the Spurs' organization when he retires, but I think it's more likely he goes to work for the Players Association.

One of the hardest-working souls on the planet. Laughin' all the way to the bank - millions for being tall, having an upper-tier quality 3 point shot, and playing adequate team defense.
I guess because he's a human being, he might as well try to dictate terms. Ya gotta admire the balls on this man who's done far more on this earth than anyone posting in this thread has.

I don't think they have the roster spot for him.

I'd hate to lose Bonners post playing career over a vet min for a year deal.

What if he just joins Bostons FO
