Whats your favorite timmy moment? Mine is no doubt the 3 he hit in crunch time to finish the Suns off in 2008. He has done so much for this franchise I will never be the same without, hopefully he will get a statue one day! I really do hope he comes back one year, I would hate to think I saw my last game of tim Duncan live:depressed

Taking it to Ibaka in game 6 of the WCF was nice as well.

Destroying Shaq when the Lakers put Shaq on TD in 2003 was pretty sweet....WC semis?

TD has had so many great moments it is hard to say.

I really hope TD comes back. He has got a bit left in the tank, especially if he starts to hit that 15ft top of the key jumper, and his bank shot. Had he had those going against the Thunder, it would have been so much harder for them to guard him.

I tell no lies when I say that if Timmy does hang them up, I will have watery eyes. With Pau on the floor, the spacing is going to be much nicer for both TD if he came back, and LaMarcus.

The first time he went up against the HATED Utah Jazz in the playoffs and showed Malone these aren't the Spurs you can push around, slapping Dave's arms til they're redder than an Injun, like you did year after year.
That was the moment I knew he was the One. Our team is getting us some damn titles, Finally! This guy brushes off Karl Malone like DR couldn't dream and the dominoes started to fall from there.

And he did. He brought us titles. He did even more than that. He turned little San Antonio from a joke of a team, and they were, into the most respected team of all time.
Two decades of elite service. To a tiny south Texas team that couldn't entertain free agents, and still gets little respect (but much more now) from the MSM.

He deserves more than a statue. He deserves a whole stadium built in his name.

I know it was just a regular season game, but against Portland in 2000 (i think), the Spurs were down, and Drob got ejected, which was very rare. Following Drob's ejection, Timmy just got that look in his eye, like get on my back, were going to win this look. The Spurs came back and won the game.

Another was when Tim picked up a total BS foul against Carmelo in the playoffs. The game was in Denver. Timmy had the whole starting group gather around him before he left the court, and you could see that animated TD who was ticked about the call, and wanted to make sure the Spurs pulled out the game, which they did.

It was different to see the poker face vanish, and the absolute competitor's face show through. In no way am I implying that TD isn't a fierce competitor when he had the poker face...we all know he was. I always appreciated that TD walked the walk.

Oh, another was in 2005 in the WC semis I believe. The game was in Seattle, it was game 6, 4th quarter. Timmy had been destroying the Sonics, then he landed awkward and hurt his ankle...left I believe. The Sonics fans were being totally classless and cheering when Timmy was on laying on the court holding his ankle. Timmy got up, in total defiance of the cheering crowd and went to the line and hit both (I think) free throws. Well, the Spurs were down by one when Manu had the ball in the back court. Manu patiently surveyed the situation, ran some clock, the shot a bullet pass to Timmy, and Timmy hit the game winner, knocking Seattle out of the playoffs.

If you recall the series I eluded to above, that was when Jerome James said they gave the Spurs "no respect" after Seattle won game 3 on their home court. It was such a satisfying win, but the Spurs had many bumps and bruises when they met Detroit in the Finals.

So fitting that Duncan closed them out. That was the last time the city of Seattle saw the Sonics in the playoffs. Ray Allen played up his ankle injury trying to get Bowen suspended. Captain Gladbag playing Amare, the fans cheering Duncan's ankle. Absolutely great. And Manu crushed the city of Denver that same year. What a great run.

All of his prime from 98-99' through 03'.

When he was in his athletic prime he was an absolute monster. Young crowd doesn't really remember or really know how incredible that Duncan was.

He could have won more titles than two during that span if he didn't have to carry 85 year old Terry Porter, 58 year old Danny Ferry, and no back David Robinson/Mark Bryant through the playoffs in the early 00's.

The greatest NBA player to ever grace a court. From top to bottom. From the hoop, to the locker room, to the off-season, to the bench-coaching during the games to his end-of-the-bench scrub teammate. To the money sacrificing for the team.
I'd take that man on my team over Jordan.

It's hard not to like him.. and for those that do they at least have to respect him.. He changed the position.. He could do it all, he stepped up when everyone else would bail. He had an extra gear when it seemed like another was not possible. He carried teams that had no business winning. He knew when to step back and let others shine. Amazing player and an even better person.

The moment he trolled Pop and told him he was leaving to Orlando was pretty good. I think Pop said he almost lost his lunch.

He could have easily left and joined Tracy McGrady, Grant Hill, Monty Williams and Doc Rivers in Orlando but he decided to stay. It was the decision that brought 4 more championships to San Antonio. The guy saved the franchise and gave its fans something to be proud of and celebrated. I wonder if people realize how instrumental he was in other peoples careers too. From players to coaches to GM's, etc. No one is as valuable if the franchise doesn't have the success it had.

Mine is the 3rd Q of game 7 of the 2005 Finals. Few people ever mention it because it was ugly, but it stands out for me.

We were down 7 or 8 and nothing was going - everyone, including Tim, was in a hole, and the Pistons' D looked impenetrable - yet Timmy just kept hammering away on the rock until it broke and he singlehandedly lifted us back into the game on some ugly but exceedingly smart and tough play.

Watching him demolish the Fakers in game 6 of 2003 semis would be second.

When he was young, there were lots of nights when people (including broadcasters) said that he was having a bad night. Then you look up and he's got 22 and 14. And 4-5 AST's. And 2-3 blocks. And it's still the 3rd quarter. He made it look so effortless, even to the point of making you think he wasn't doing that much. And, yeah, I can't even count the times he just put the whole team in his back, and carried them over the finish line.

What people underestimate the most, I think, is that on all those nights when the Spurs would "win ugly", it was Timmy most responsible for keeping the other team scoreless for 4-5 minutes at a time. He's grinding them down on the offensive end, and then making sure the team isn't just trading buckets by shutting down the middle on the defensive end.
