When you build your team around a star who doesn't play defense, you don't win championships.

I think FO realizes this and that's why they brought in D'Antoni to make it look less shitty. They know they aren't going to win squadoosh, but they need to sell tickets. Harden could care less about playing competitive basketball thanks to Adidas.

Wrong actually. You know why stars didn't go to OKC? Because they were not sure Durant or Westbrook were staying. This is a move that helps them next FA.

So with the Harden extension this puts the ball in Westbrooks court. Do you want to be the face of the franchise or not?
If I am Presti I tell Russ,"What they did with Harden I want to do with you". If he says no you trade him. Its a simple as that. Westbrook leaves for nothing OKC only has them selves to blame.

The only big FA that joined harden was Howard and he opted out and bolted :lol

The spurs lured Aldridge last summer despite him meeting with Houston

Melo chose getting paid, 125 million to play in New York. Plus make plenty of endorsements. He is a businessman. Why would Durant give Houston a meeting when he knew he was going to GS the whole time? Him and James talk all the time. He didn't waste Houston's time like he wasted yours. Are you seriously bragging about being formally rejected by Durant?

Also, if things were to go south, Harden's trade value would be high since he would be guaranteed to stay an extra year.

They ALREADY offered him an extension & he turned it down. He can sign w/ the Heat & be the face of the franchise. If they can get a medical exemption for Bosh then Riley can build a contender around him through free agency unlike OKC.

The only team I could see trading for him are the Celtics since they have a bunch of assets thus can take the hit if he doesn't want to re-sign. The Suns might be dumb enough to trade Bledsoe/Bender only to see him walk since they are desperate.:lol

You think he gets traded in Feb? There's no reason why they shouldn't since he's a s good as gone. I imagine Griffin leaving too after all the drama past year. Could be one of the biggest trade deadline in the last 10 years.

Going to Miami would be Westbrook the highest IQ move he made his entire career..:lol..Lebron and Cavs have next season as the last being the outright favourite in conference; dude is bound to age and show it and he will lose motivation now that he rang..

if Riley nabs Russ this summer, i could see avenues for him to get Blake or disgruntled stars like maybe Cousins/AD/Paul George down the road.

Agreed few flaws with your post:

1) Kobe is 2nd best SG in NBA history. To compare Bin Harden to him is laughable
2) Money aside, if you are a free agent, why would you sign with a 17-win team, especially if you are a vet, and ring chasing? Makes no sense son.

Trust me, I'm not sweating free agents. KD just went to the Dubs. Who beating them anyway in the WC, your Rockets? :lol

The Lakers are going to role with the kids. If things fall right, we win 35-40 games this year. Then build from there. Eventually we'll be attractive to free agents, but for now, I'm content watching our kids play.

Edit: looking at your roster, I'm not sure you guys are better than the Lakers. :lol

It's LA, and it's the Lakers. Or it was at least. Buss' kids have destroyed the legacy of that franchise. Now it's as if all those championships don't matter anymore.

Why would you trade assets for Westbrook if there is a chance he might bolt your team next off-season? If any team trades for him, then they need assurances that he'd resign with them next off-season, if not, then you simply can't trade for him. The only other way to go about it is ask where Russell wants to go and see if you can trade him to that team, but then if that team knows he wants to go there, they can just wait until the off-season and sign him without losing any assets. Wow, the more I think about it, OKC is kind of screwed and in a very tough spot.

Dominos was open to re-signing w/ OKC but he walked so there is no guarantee that WestBrick will re-sign even w/ his shortlist of teams. The Celtics have to trade away their picks b/c they just don't have space on their roster so they might be willing to gamble.:lol
