I mean, if the Cowboys could televise Roger Staubach's retirement press conference back in the day, the Spurs can televise Timmy's retirement, too. It'll be tough, but we need to witness it to have closure as Spurs fans.

Pop realizes the party is over.. Always had that quiet voice on the court to reign in players when they were getting outside of themselves.. The relationships you develop and the reliability you have on the greatest player the organization has ever had.. Basically waking up every morning and seeing your best friend at work and knowing he won't be there anymore to help lead the troops.. Very sad interview, great sentiments and words and incredibly human, none of those snarky comments.

Id love to see Tim come back as a Bigs coach and help these guys actually learn good footwork and mechanics

I respect Tim's "over himself" approach, but he needs to say goodbye to the fans that have supported him his entire career to give closure. Every athlete retires at some point. An exit interview is the way to go. To be honest, he should show up to the first game of the season so fans can honor him. I get this stuff is not him, but do it for the fans.

It's really not odd. Tim is retired, doesn't have to say anything and elects not to. First time in his adult life he can avoid talking to the press without incurring a fine.

Come on, not even a thanks to the fans or to San Antonio?

for people mad about duncan not receiving Kobe press, you guys claim to be spurs fans and in 19 years still haven't figured out that Duncan hates the press?

I don't think he's leaving. He can thank them when they raise his jersey.

I don't think Tim does social media so he'd have to be here to do it and he's on vacation. For once he can forget about basketball for the summer.

he'll likely say something at the first home game or at jersey ceremony- jesus what a man. i envy you all for having this guy as the cornerstone of the franchise. it certainly feels good seeing the warriors this relevant again, but give me the rich culture you guys established over two decades anyday. so much more to feel proud about. feels weird say it, but go spurs go.

Pop talked about Timmy playing a role in the Spurs organization. Hopefully he takes the job vacated by Chad Forcier.
