Learn to shoot a damn FT. Ultimately, that's what the game is all about - putting the ball through the metal ring.

How about this? Each team can designate one player that doesn't have to shoot his own FT's. But that player can't shoot the ball. Ever.

Not really that big of a change, IMO. I can live with extending it to the last 2 minutes of every quarter.

Just glad they didn't change the rule completely to accommodate 3-4 players who can't shoot free throws.

lol you mean have players with skill? nba lets these guys travel and carry every possession. why in the hell would they hold players to a skill standard? Height standard only in the nba.

My rule change would be if you do not shoot at least 60% for the season (100 ft minimum) half your salary will be donated to charity.

OR

If you are on this list, (Dwight Howard, Clint Capela, Andre Drummond, DeAndre Jordan...) you cannot participate in any meaningful games.

Me neither. A legitimate foul trying to fight through a screen? Terrible over-extension of the rule. This will have far more impact than the other tweaks. It will alter the possible outcome of some games, prove extremely controversial and have to be repealed. Under this rule, a team that is behind with time running out incurs a huge risk in employing extreme pressure to create a steal or a turnover. Huge shift in favor of the team trying to protect a lead.

That's because it's not about playing basketball - it's about delivering a "product". It's the same reason they let every guard in the league carry the ball on every damn play.

Catering to people who can't play the game, because opposing teams take advantage of their lack of skill? That doesn't make any sense in the context of basketball. It's like the designated hitter rule. Baseball fans like to see guys hit the ball. So if one guy can't? We'll just let someone else bat for him. I don't think this will fuck up the NBA as badly as the DH did baseball. But it's a start. It sure as hell sends a message what they're about.

Which idiot jumped on a player's back to commit an intentional foul?

There was a gap in the rules that allowed people to commit an intentional foul while the ball was in the air in the last two minutes, and it was considered a loose-ball foul (over the back) rather than an intentional foul. If they'd just called a technical the first time someone did it, which it is, none of this shit would be necessary.

Not really. Many teams do the hack a somebody to get the last shot of a quarter. For ex: if there are 16 seconds left and the Clippers have the ball, teams tend to foul Jordan to get the last possession of the Q. This eliminates that strategy.
