It's wasting money for nostalgic shit, not much to understand. Just to have something that looks like a Genesis or an NES. These things are about the price of one modern game just to splurge.

And easy to play burnt games at the time. At first all you need was the utopia boot disk, and swap CDs and then they figured out how to autorun games or some shit. Piracy and lack of third party developers like EA and other American developers killed the system. SEGA for the most part were churning out games with other Japanese developers.

Remember Bleemcast and how you could run Playstation games on the Dreamcast and not only that, but made them look better? That shit was insane at the time.

That, NBA 2k, NFL 2K and Soul Calibur were my shit back in the day. I also played a ton of Capcom vs SNK too and the directional pad from the Dreamcast controller used to fuck up my left thumb pretty bad until I started to form a callus on it. :lol

I still have my Dreamcast in a box in the closet with so many games I bought but also burned. I might have to pull it out one of these days. My laser eye of the GD drive still works thankfully. I might have to try that emulator out to save my laser. I've read that many people have drive problems with their systems nowadays especially people who burned games back then.

Yeah the NES one is lazy but it won't be long before someone figures out the emulator they're using and how to run games from an SD card or some modded way. I agree with lefty though, dat controller. I was playing Super Mario 3 on an emulator with my laptop connected to a HDMI cable and I was using a wireless PS3 controller connected to a Bluetooth adapter and it just wasn't the same plus I could notice a lag in input. It just wasn't the same. There's something about playing NES games with a controller from the NES.

Don't know if it's been mentioned but this NES mini has save state capabilities like every other emulator.

I bought that thing as soon as it came out. Had some good games but yeah...:lol.

Seems like I was went the wrong way with many of my gaming purchases. Although they had some good games and nice graphics, whatever I bought was destined to have poor support.

Atari 5200
Sega Game Gear
Sega CD
Sony Vita

Also bought some kind of digital music player in the mid 90's. Had little cassettes about the size of a Gameboy game that contained some kind of small disc in them. It was after the minidisc. Can't remember the name. Cost a fortune and was supposed to replace the CD's. Nope.

Edit...after some searching, seems like it was some iteration of the mini disc.

Nintendo's Classic Mini NES sold a whopping 196,000 units in November in the US, according to an industry tracker.

By comparison, NPD found that Nintendo shifted just 220,000 of the soon-to-be-defunct Wii U console in the US over the six month period from April through to September. UK sales figures have yet to be reported.

Nintendo could be making a killing rn if one, they made enough supply for the demand, and two, if they would have released some game packages for the console..

I think they wanted to show they could crack a UPlay game. It is surprising to see Just Cause 3 go a year without a crack. The Voksi Steam bypass worked if you managed to login once in that two day window before Steam patched it and then go offline.

This thing just appeals to the people who buy $120 special editions of games so they can get the plastic figurine and the coin and whatever other Happy Meal level toy they throw in. If it didn't look like an NES no one would give a shit. You can't get new games for it and you have to use an awful wired controller in 2017. :lol

What's the range on that controller anyways, like five feet before you pull the fucker out of the machine?

I'm going to opt to sink that money into a couple of games I'm willing to try. Like The Witcher 3 for instance.

Just get a Raspberry Pi for throwback gaming. You can easily play NES, Genesis, SNES, PS One, 80s-90s arcade games, Dreamcast, etc on one. I know DarrinS made one of these systems and it's pretty cheap to do.

Though I doubt the Raspberry Pi 3 is strong enough to run PCSX2 for PS2 games or Dolphin for Wii games. For those you probably have to get a pc with a decent Intel cpu (eg i3 or better).

I was looking into taht site you posted a while back about emulators but I got lost in everything you need like a dongle or whatever that's call. That stuff is way over my head. I just want to grab a controller and play.

Nintendo will follow up its smash hit NES microconsole with a mini version of the SNES, sources close to the company have confirmed to Eurogamer.
http://bigboy.eurogamer.net/2017/articles/1/8/9/6/0/1/5/149259681143.jpg/EG11/resize/300x-1/quality/80/format/jpg

The SNES mini (or, to continue Nintendo's official branding, likely the Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Entertainment System) is currently scheduled to launch in time for Christmas this year. Development of the device is already under way, our sources have indicated.

Nintendo's plans for SNES mini are also a major reason why last year's NES mini did not see a reprieve from discontinuation, Eurogamer understands, despite the latter's continued popularity and sell-out status.

Last week, Nintendo explained that it never intended NES mini to be a permanent product (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-04-13-nintendo-classic-mini-nes-is-being-discontinued2). From the company's perspective, the microconsole was planned as a cool novelty item perfect for Christmas 2016, and the numbers in which it was manufactured and shipped were expected to be enough to suit this goal.

But NES mini ended up breaking out to become more popular than anticipated and quickly sold out, leading to a bustling resale market on eBay (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-04-18-nes-mini-discontinued-in-europe-too). NES mini shipments continued into the early part of this year, but its production run could not be extended further - as SNES mini was slated for production instead.

Hopefully, more stock of the SNES mini will be made available to avoid a repeat of the same shortages.

The reality of a SNES mini is certainly exciting - while the NES was unique for being Nintendo's first home console, the SNES arguably boasts the better software line-up, and a catalogue of classics far more advanced than their NES forebears. Compare The Legend of Zelda on NES to A Link to the Past, for example, or Donkey Kong to Donkey Kong Country.

Other top SNES games from Nintendo include Super Metroid, Super Mario Kart and Super Mario World, as well as Earthbound, Star Fox and Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.
The console also had some of the best RPGs of the era, including Square's Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana.

For the SNES mini, Nintendo is expected to stick with the NES mini's plug-and-play setup, and its array of games which come preinstalled and ready to play.
Nintendo declined to comment when contacted by Eurogamer.
