what's your unemployment number, LGBT hater?
do you like same sex or the opposite sex like normal people
Please explain - if unemployment is truly 5%, why millenniums can't find jobs, why this great demand for workers hasn't resulted in wages going up, why one is competing with 10s of others for the same job, why it took my husband (with decades of experience) 5 months to get a job?
US job cuts rise to 65,141 in April; 2016 layoffs at 7-year high: Challenger

The "participation rate" is historically low, due to the Banksters Great Depression, globalizatoin, the austerian Repugs refusing to stimulate the economy, the Repugs laying of 100Ks of state employees, teachers, etc, etc.
People are coming back into the labor force, but most are finding nothing but shitty jobs, their college degrees being useless, and their enslaving college debt (thanks, Repugs!) lucrative for interest-charging capitalists, and predatory debt collectors.
Several Repugs are touting how well their states are doing, while LYING that Obama and ACA have destroyed the economy.
My name is Meredith McIver and I’m an in-house staff writer at the Trump Organization. I am also a longtime friend and admirer of the Trump family.
In working with Melania Trump on her recent First Lady [sic] speech, we discussed many people who inspired her and messages she wanted to share with the American people. A person she has always liked is Michelle Obama. Over the phone, she read me some passages from Mrs. Obama’s speech. I did not check Mrs. Obama’s speeches. This was my mistake, and I feel terrible for the chaos I have caused Melania and the Trumps, as well as to Mrs. Obama. No harm was meant.
Yesterday, I offered my resignation to Mr. Trump and the Trump family, but they rejected it. Mr. Trump told me that people make innocent mistakes and that we learn and grow from these experiences.
I asked to put out this statement because i did not like seeing the way this was distracting from Mr. Trump’s historic campaign for president and Melania’s beautiful message and presentation.
I apologize for the confusion and hysteria my mistake has caused. Today, more than ever, I am honored to work for such a great family. I personally admire the way Mr. Trump has handled this situation and I am grateful for his understanding.

Yes, they don't have the 10s of people vetting speeches like Hillary does. Melanie Trump probably wasn't even aware of plagiarism (has she ever written a paper in her life?) - I'm surprised the media isn't crowing that she admires Michelle. And why is the media blowing it all out of proportion - it was still top of Google News this morning - 2 days after with the 2nd night of the convention in between?

Melania is not dumb
she speaks 5 languages she does not like to speak. She was convinced by trump to give the speech. She is new to this type of thing. She is a complete outside on this. Trump spoke with media before because of his tv he loves the media attention. Some do better then that. George Bush was not a great speaker. The current president is a good speaker. I do not agree with a lot he does but he is a great speaker!
Donald Trump Jr is a great speaker also

Team Trump Released A Letter To Try To End Its Plagiarism Scandal. It May Backfire.
The statement was printed not on campaign letterhead, but on Trump Organization letterhead. In it, Meredith McIver identified herself not as a campaign staffer, but as “an in-house staff writer at the Trump Organization.” She notes that she offered her resignation “to Mr. Trump and the Trump family,” but makes no mention of offering to resign from the Trump campaign.
that letter “raised all kinds of questions about whether this has been illegal support.”
“His company is not supposed to be supporting his campaign,” Noble explained, which would be an illegal corporate contribution. While campaign disclosures have indicated that Trump for President has been paying the Trump Organization for some staff time, which is permissible under campaign finance law, Noble observed that “the lines are becoming very blurred.”
“Nowhere in here does she say she was working at the Trump campaign,” he added. “Then she talks about resigning, the implication is resigning from the company. Why would she be doing that if she was working for the campaign? This raises a lot of questions.”

Trump Adviser Stands by Call for Clinton to Face 'Firing Squad'
"as far as I'm concerned, the laws of the land on treason could be a firing squad if she's found guilty."
He first made the comments on the Jeff Kuhner Show, and when confronted with his earlier remarks he said he stood by them.
"I stand by it because treason is treason. When you take information on a server, that's a non classified server, classified info, and you've got names of American CIA, Secret Service, ambassadors or whatever and you're sharing that out there, you're giving the enemy information," Baldasaro said.

I've seen the same jobs available in my area for the last 6-12 months...still sitting there waiting to be filled. Great paying jobs. I'm still in disbelief they haven't been filled yet. Those layoffs in your article are from the energy sector. Well...people had to realize the energy boom doesn't last forever. It goes up and down. When the price of oil goes down there are going to be winners and losers. I live in Pennsylvania and every time a coal plant gets shuttered it's time to blame the government!! It's the government's fault the natural gas boom started pushing out coal. It's the government's fault that electricity demand has gone down which has resulted in less demand for coal. It's the government's fault that people in the city don't want to breathe in toxic air every time the wind blows the wrong way giving their children health problems and bringing down their property value. It's the government's fault that coal workers were too short-sighted to see the trends in their industry and cope with the hard truth that cheaper, cleaner fuels were going to eventually replace their more expensive and dirtier kind of fuel. The Beaver Cleaver generation think these jobs are supposed to last forever like it's not an ever-changing world. Rather than look in the mirror and hold themselves accountable for their blindness it's easier to use someone else as the scapegoat. It's like a programmer from the 80's and 90's blaming the government because hardly anyone uses COBOL anymore in this day and age :lol The smart people saw the trends, knew the dinosaur languages were being phased out, adapted and learned newer languages/skills.

Many have said that it may be one of the last hurrahs of a dying national party.
I wouldn't write off the GOP yet. They can still attract young people, as the GOP interns can attest to in this white-angle shot of GOP congressional interns.

The great recession cut very deep. The labor market is only really now bouncing back, with wages finally being pressed upwards due to constraints.
The answers are in in your own link:
Challenger cautioned that it is not unusual to see job cuts rise while the economy is improving. He noted layoffs were elevated near the height of the dotcom bubble in the late '90s.
"Like IBM and Intel, companies are shifting strategies that require them to cut in some places while adding in others," he said.

My husband is in the tech industry and if he gets an interview, he usually gets the job. Unfortunately, with the filters used by placement agencies (whatever key words they're using) and so many people applying for the same job, it's not easy to get to the interview stage. My dh is not a dinosaur as I am - he's up to date - "we hired you to drag us into the 21st century" - so say these government officials at his latest job.
I don't get you people. You complain about there being no jobs for millenniums. Wages are not going up but there are lots of jobs out there that can't be filled. Does that make sense to anybody? It's simple supply and demand. If there is such a demand for workers, then wages should be going up.
It's not just energy jobs, but tech jobs (further down in the article). Funny you should mention COBOL programmers of which I'm one (even started with punch cards - lol- that's how old I am).
https://www.laserfiche.com/simplicity/looking-job-hows-your-cobol/
COBOL supports 90 percent of Fortune 500 business systems every day
70 percent of all critical business logic and data is written in COBOL
COBOL powers 85 percent of all daily business transactions processed
$2 trillion worth of mainframe applications in corporations are written in COBOL
1.5 million new lines of COBOL code are written every day
5 billion lines of new COBOL code are developed every year
The total investment in COBOL technologies, staff and hardware is estimated at $5 trillion
An estimated 2 million people are currently working in COBOL
The problem is that the program is in operation, but the world isn’t cranking out many COBOL programmers anymore. The COBOL programmers we do have are nearing retirement, with as many as half of them aged 50 or more, according to Bloomberg Business Week. This goes beyond the government, as it affects private industry as well. “In some cases, only one or two people understand the core banking software the bank runs on and the older programming language in which it is written,” writes American Banker, which it calls the “key person” problem.
Consequently, active COBOL programmers are in short supply. So, thanks to the law of supply and demand, salaries for COBOL programmers are going up. “The salary for top talent can reach six figures, and agencies and companies are still awarding contracts today for COBOL software maintenance,” writes FedTech. The U.S. Office of Personnel Management estimated that the maintenance costs for the retirement system could go up 10 to 15 percent due to the lack of programmers.
I'm sure we can both find articles to say just about anything - like the pitiful 38,000 jobs report in May vs 162,000 expected (below). So please explain to me why US economic confidence is low if there are so many great jobs around and the economy is fine and dandy.

The tech sector is all about niches, but you're right that you gotta move. We made a good amount of money with mobile apps a couple years ago when it was all the rage, but nowadays, it's a waste of time and money if you're not doing it for some big corp that's paying top dollar.
Sometimes is all about connections too, tbh... A friend I haven't heard of in years called up about a year ago out of the blue, he's working on a Fortune 500 company and needed some work done. We're almost exclusively working for them now, expanding, developing new tech... we've done a bit over $300k worth of work for them since and have a couple of new projects lined up. Things change rapidly sometimes, you gotta be ready to jump in when the opportunity shows up.

Pam Bondi decided not to sue Trump University — and got a $25,000 donation from Trump
In 2013, according to the Associated Press (http://bigstory.ap.org/article/e16a8223c24048d290883370dc6abe5b/florida-ag-asked-trump-donation-nixing-fraud-case), Bondi announced that she was considering joining a lawsuit that New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman was filing against Trump University.
Then, four days later, a $25,000 check from Trump to Bondi’s reelection campaign showed up. Bondi ended up not suing Trump after all, even though she had plenty of reason to do so. Florida had received complaints about Trump’s series of real estate seminars, and a class-action lawsuit on behalf of students in the state is currently in progress in federal court in New York.

Schwartz said, “It’s nuts and completely indicative of who he is.
There’s no basis in anything legal.
I suspect that Donald Trump called up his chief legal person and said, ‘go after that guy and do whatever you have to do.’”

Donald Trump Planning To Just Let Mike Pence Run The Country, Apparently
Trump plans to saddle his veep with most of the duties of being president. Because why not?
Trump has, throughout his campaign, made it clear that he believes that being president is a really easy job ― no sweat for him!
One day this past May, Donald Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., reached out to a senior adviser to Gov. John Kasich of Ohio,
Donald Jr. wanted to make him an offer nonetheless: Did he have any interest in being the most powerful vice president in history?
When Kasich’s adviser asked how this would be the case, Donald Jr. explained that his father’s vice president would be in charge of domestic and foreign policy. :lol

What Cruz did was terrible - he irreparably damaged any chance he has running for president in the future - the Trump supporters will not forget. He shouldn't have accepted the spot if he intended to tell everyone to vote their conscience - this is not what a Christian should do - deliberately torpedo the night - better to decline like Kasich - all the headlines tomorrow will be about him.
That was some quick thinking on Newt's part - can't have prepared for Cruz's "vote your conscience"
Eric Trump was good, not as great as his brother's though.

Mike Pence Handed Hillary Clinton The White House With His Fox News Driven VP Speech
The Pence speech was empty and fluffy. It was more of the standard delusion that Republicans have been telling their voters for eight years.
Republicans keep telling themselves that America is terrible, but yet, Democrats keep winning presidential elections.
Mike Pence lacks the strength and fire to deliver the message that needs to be delivered.
Mike Pence made Republicans happy with his speech, but for the bulk of the country that doesn’t watch Fox News, Pence sounded like a man from another planet.
Pence claimed that Hispanic would vote for Trump because Trump will build the wall and deport Mexicans.
The Trump/Pence ticket was born out of a Republican electorate that is being driven by Fox News and conservative media.
Pence was out of touch with the reality of the real America.
The America that is changing and growing more diverse.
Gov. Pence’s speech was a gasp of the dying angry white right.
Mike Pence couldn’t do the impossible.
He couldn’t make Republicans sound rational, and he couldn’t sell Donald Trump to an electorate that doesn’t trust him.
Gov. Pence didn’t reach out to voters that Republicans need.
He railed for the Republican base, but that base is not big enough to win in November.

Southern Strategy is Dem mythology.
From now on, the Republicans are never going to get more than 10 to 20 percent of the Negro vote and they don't need any more than that...but Republicans would be shortsighted if they weakened enforcement of the Voting Rights Act. The more Negroes who register as Democrats in the South, the sooner the Negrophobe whites will quit the Democrats and become Republicans. That's where the votes are. Without that prodding from the blacks, the whites will backslide into their old comfortable arrangement with the local Democrats.

also, evolution is real.
Trump had long ago walked back on the pledge, so that was no longer valid. And forgiveness doesn't mean endorsing a lunatic for president.
Whatever Trump did with the pledge had no bearing (separate issue) on Kasich, Jeb and Cruz signing their pledge and breaking it. Republicans don't like that he came to the convention and broke his word in such a public manner when they're trying to unite the party - else stay home and don't sabotage the convention.

Here's the text as sent out by the RNC at 8:21 pm ...

In other words, whatever Cruz was trying to do he did it in plain sight. In fact, there's more the advanced text tells us.
In Newt Gingrich's speech that came a short time later, Newt referenced Cruz's speech, praising Trump for allowing former foes to address the convention and suggesting, against all common sense, that Cruz had in fact said that people should vote for Trump.
Here's the key.
Those passages were not in the advance, embargoed versions of the speech.
That clearly suggests that convention planners were completely caught off guard by what Cruz said.
It seems they did not read the speech, even though what Cruz would say was the subject of immense scrutiny and pressure by Trump and the RNC.
Is that possible?
Or did they simply not realize how the words would play in front of the convention crowd?

Trump’s Repulsive Acceptance Speech Just Got Hillary Clinton Elected President
Donald Trump's acceptance speech is so repulsive to so many Americans that he just may have gotten Hillary Clinton elected to be the nation's next president.
Trump is terrible on the teleprompter, so his delivery was poor.
Trump promised that there would be no lies. :lol ( Another Great Repug said "I'm not a crook" )
He then proceeded to lie throughout the entire speech.
Every time Trump said these are the facts, it was the cue for another lie.
Donald Trump immediately settled into his comfort food of robotically reading off statistics to make himself sound knowledgeable.
Trump painted immigrants as roaming bands of criminals who are terrorizing the American people,
“The number of new illegal immigrant families who have crossed the border so far this year already exceeds the entire total from 2015.
They are being released by the tens of thousands into our communities with no regard for the impact on public safety or resources.”
Trump is alienating every group of voters that he needs to win. Trump is playing to angry, white, conservative America.

Nixon was another racist GOP crook.
“You want to know what this was really all about,” Ehrlichman, who died in 1999, said in the interview after Baum asked him about Nixon’s harsh anti-drug policies.
“The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House after that, had two enemies: the antiwar left and black people. You understand what I’m saying,” Ehrlichman continued.
“We knew we couldn’t make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders, raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did.”
Crook Ronald Reagan continued the effort to destroy black communities by allowing the Contras to import their crack cocaine into the U.S. which lead to drug wars in the streets.

They fucked up when they spent 3 nights bashing Hillary non stop and undermining their own themes of the nights.
They also had no substance. No idea what policies they want to do, or anything close to that. Just more we will build walls but won't tell you how much it will cost, etc.
Complete and utter disaster.
There will probably be very little bashing of Trump at the DNC

Just like Trump shouldn't have gone negative in the Republican primaries? lol. 9/10 going negative works extremely well.
Cant' wait for the BLM convention when you be praising the speakers as comedic geniuses for saying Trump is orange and has small hands.
The speech is almost universally being praised as extremely effective.
And Trump could have told you exactly what he was going to do hour by hour for his first 100 days and you would still claim he wasn't giving any substance. Then you would call him racist, sexist, and anti-gay. Then you'll say he isn't ready for prime time. Then you'll say how you would love to vote for a reasonable Republican like Romney or McCain. The Republican party used to be sane back in the day.
lol
That would be a first :lol Somehow he's going to do all of these "tremendous" things and have the money to pay for it all while reducing the debt while rebuilding the greatest military ever blah blah blah

:lol why people still insist that elections like this are about policy and things like that, tbh?
It's all about looks, manners, empathy, delivering a speech, looking presidential, etc... both bases already know who they're voting for, the rest are just looking who they can place a bet on at a personal level.
I mean, at the end of the day, all those guys are likely going to be disappointed no matter who they vote for anyways.

While Trump is historically coy on actual policy I don't see why it has to be all or nothing.
The exit polls in the last election had Romney being hammered with independents for being so vague on policy outside of repeal Obamacare.

But that's the GOP as a whole, and the Dems too to a large extent. Romney made really shitty decisions, like picking a terrible VP, that I think even scared some of the base, and couldn't shake freaking Joe Biden on a debate. Ryan wanted to privatize Medicare, talked up school vouchers. The thing is, that's basically what you hear pretty much every time from the Republican platform. I haven't looked this year, but I doubt it's much different. Heck, do you still know what the GOP as a whole wants to replace Barrycare with? It's been what, 6 years?
I suppose he thought "repeal" was going to be enough to propel him, like it did for Congress in 2010. He was even running against a president that already faltered on some of his promises.
I still can't believe they bungled that election, tbh, but they managed.
Frankly, from this cycle, and even if you consider his ideas lunacy, the only guy that really has said how he's going to pay for this or that has been Bernie. Skimping on details has been the norm for a while now.

Thanks for the link (although I gotta admit I laughed when I read June 22, 2016, tbh). I haven't read it entirely yet, but I will.
I wish it would actually be a bill, personally, not the hodge-podge of small bills in the echo chamber that's the House, trying to trim or impair Barrycare here or there.

America too white, evil, oppressive, and institutionally racist for you? I have great news, you don't have to stay! Historically, oppressed people get the fuck away from their oppressors if/when the opportunity arises. Now is your chance!

And the new electorate ate up Sanders. Hillary got the nomination due to backdoor deals with minority groups and unions plus the superdelegates more than anything else. The Dems see this and put more than half of Sanders policy proposals onto their platform.
Last election the election polls were pretty clear that Romney being too vague on policy cost him. Go to the current candidates websites and look at the policy proposal pages and tell me who you see as more forthcoming.

So expand HSA tax credits which would basically give more money to the financial industry.
Cement the relationship between payroll and healthcare with no notion of price control.
More tort reform stupidity.
Cap medicaid on a per capita allotment.
Subsidizing pharmaceuticals and device companies even more.
Make sure boomers get their medicare funding.
Eliminate abortion funding.
Well that was the typical supply side GOP solution to everything.
About the only thing in there that actually would curb costs for the consumer was the antitrust reform.

I read most of it, and it's basically what Ryan ran with in 2012, with a few tweaks that are popular now, like preexisting condition coverage and the the tax credit for portability.
I like some ideas in theory, like more competition between insurance companies, but really, that's the not the real problem with cost. And there's no way to control that without things like serious patent reform, or basically admitting that in certain areas, profit motive can't be more important that the well-being of citizens.
I've never liked ACA at all for the same reason. There's no cost control, and without that, you can't make the rest work.

Nixon mainly used it to talk about violent protesters against the Vietnam War, but there was an element against black protesters as well, especially after MLK's assassination. And tbf, Nixon won that election in 1968.
Nixon won because he scuttled the Paris Peace, denying the Dems the campaign advantage of stopping the VN war just before the election, just like St Ronnie scuttled Carter's attempt to get the hostages released.
Repugs were converting the racist Dems in the South to be racist Repugs in the South (Southern Strategy) so Nixon used the war on drugs to criminalize blacks to please his racist base.

profit motive can't be more important that the well-being of citizens.
... There's no cost control
One reason America is fucked is that for-profit BigHealthCare puts profit above patients, and BigHealthCare own legislators, makes/blocks policy to protect/increase profit, not to provide care.
It's the fundamental corruption of American health care: health care is an expensive privilege, not an "inalienable" right.
BigHealthCare is unstoppable, sucking $3T+/year out of Americans' wealth.

TDIL safety explicitly means hate, lies, paranoia, and racism.
Presidential elections are about being the person people trust to do the right thing. It's not a high school debate that's graded on points. Never has been.

Trash's "law and order" is code word, a dog whistle, aimed at the Repug white racist base, for racism against blacks, browns, just like "states rights" was, is a code word for Jim Crow racism.
Voter expressing their preference through voting for "person .... to do the right thing" are almost 100% ignored (aka disenfranchisement) by politicians who always prioritize the preferences of their donors.

Media Across The Political Spectrum Aghast At Trump's "Dark," "Ugly" Convention Speech
Media figures from across the political spectrum reacted with horror on Twitter during Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's speech at the Republican National Convention (RNC),
calling it the "bleakest, darkest, most fascistic speech" that just kept getting "darker and darker."
Several commentators compared the speech to that of a "fascist" "dictator."
( many tweets in the link )
