Millions of Bernie Sanders’ donors may now have legal recourse against the Democratic primaries they saw as rigged.

Beck & Lee Trial Lawyers, a civil litigation firm based in Miami, Florida, is announcing the filing of a class action lawsuit against the DNC early next week, alleging fraud and collusion with the Hillary Clinton campaign. While roughly one hundred people have officially signed on as plaintiffs, partner Jared Beck told US Uncut that thousands of requests for legal paperwork have come in within the last 48 hours.

Damn.

The causes of action mentioned in the article sound dubious to me, at first blush. But they'll still put pressure on the DNC. And the exposure is probably not something they want so close to the election, so there's a possibility of a nice settlement.

Dem party chief won't speak at convention

One unidentified source told CNN (http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/22/politics/dnc-wikileaks-emails/) that the decision reached Saturday by party officials is meant to “keep the peace.”

"She's been quarantined," another Democrat told the network, referring to the Florida congresswoman, who is expected gavel the convention in Philadelphia in and out.

The development follows the leak of internal DNC emails last week that show an effort to undermine Sen. Bernie Sanders (http://thehill.com/people/bernie-sanders)’s challenge to Hillary Clinton (http://thehill.com/people/hillary-clinton).

Wasserman Schultz in a few emails specifically criticizes Sanders’s campaign manager, Jeff Weaver, calling him a “damn liar” in one.
Weaver told ABC News on Saturday (http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/288990-sanders-aide-someone-needs-to-be-held-accountable-for-dnc) that “someone needs to be held accountable” for what was revealed in the leak.

“We spent 48 hours of public attention worrying about who in the Trump campaign was going to be held responsible for the fact that some lines of Mrs.

Obama’s speech were taken by Mrs. Trump,” Weaver said, referencing the plagiarism controversy over Melania Trump’s speech at the Republican National Convention.

"Someone in the DNC needs to be held at least as accountable as the Trump campaign.”

http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/presidential-races/288991-dnc-chairwoman-wont-speak-at-convention

IIRC, Obama's deal to get Hillary's support in 2008 included Hillary at State, and DWS as DNC head.

Trump kept saying the system was rigged against Bernie and then this happens, lol. What an embarrassment to the democratic party. Like I said earlier, I thought my loyalty to this party was unshakable, but it's now been shaken.

Trump's claims are more than a little self-serving. Take them with an appropriate level of skepticism.

If it were as rigged as Trump suggests, Bernie wouldn't have won quite so many states. It is clear though, who the party leaders preferred, but I am not going to act shocked that a political party leadership might have a preference, (not Trump, cough cough) as I am sure it happens all the time.

They shouldn't interfere much with the voting process though, in any event, to be clear.

Fair enough. What is it specifically that you do not like about the TPP?

There are many things in this fatally flawed agreement that should give anyone pause. But one specific point illustrates the negative effect on US jobs.... Lowering the domestic content of automobiles to 45% (currently 62.5%) will cost workers as corporations move more manufacturing overseas to take advantage of the disastrously lower wage floors.
Another point that really bothers me is the restriction on generic drugs and patent term extensions and patents on new uses of old medicines. This is a virtual death warrant to poorer nations.

Trump Credits One Of 'Our Friends' In Russia, China With DNC Hack

Donald Trump on Monday attributed the Democratic National Committee hack that led to the ouster of its chair to

“one of our many, many ‘friends’” in Russia or China.

At a campaign event with running mate and Indiana Gov. Mike Pence in Roanoke, Virginia, Trump said although outgoing DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz worked “very, very hard to rig the system” in favor the of presumptive nominee, Hillary Clinton “threw her under the bus” after emails between top DNC staffers were leaked online.

“Little did [Wasserman Schultz] know, Russia, China, one of our many, many ‘friends’” – Trump emphasized with air quotes – “came in and hacked the hell out of us. Can you imagine?"

Trump was discussing the cyber attack on the DNC, which has been widely attributed to Russian intelligence forces.

Yep, the timing of the release. If Trump and WikiBoi were so concerned about righteousness, why not release these damning emails immediately after they came out? So that Bern could have taken the Demoncratic nod. Trump knew he had no chance one on one with Bern, so he wanted Shillary in the sense of wait til Bern is out then release the emails. Assange is still butthurt over his quaranteen, which he should be. But his motive is take Hillary down as she was Sec of State when he got penalized.

NY Times:

Proving the source of a cyberattack is notoriously difficult. But researchers have concluded that the national committee was breached by two Russian intelligence agencies, which were the same attackers behind previous Russian cyberoperations at the White House, the State Department and the Joint Chiefs of Staff last year. And metadata from the released emails suggests that the documents passed through Russian computers. Though a hacker claimed responsibility for giving the emails to WikiLeaks, the same agencies are the prime suspects. Whether the thefts were ordered by Mr. Putin, or just carried out by apparatchiks who thought they might please him, is anyone’s guess.

Revelations From The DNC Email Leak

Last week, WikiLeaks posted 20,000 email exchanges among DNC officials, the content of which led to DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s resignation on the eve of the convention. Here are some of the key revelations from the leak:

DNC staffers openly discussed wanting a Democrat to become president
Staff members preferred the burrito place on 6th Street to the one around the corner when expressing a preference
Committee secretly provided legal counsel to Hillary Clinton when candidate committed drunken hit-and-run after South Carolina rally
Clinton’s campaign logo was just a red arrow until someone had the idea it could form the middle part of an H
Shocking revelation that former manager of Clinton’s campaign opted to support her over a self-declared socialist who was, until recently, an independent
MoveOn.org has accomplished so much thanks to them, but their continued support has never been more important than right now
Orrin Hatch has been mistakenly emailing the Democratic Party account with ideas for Republican strategy since 1998
Despite pledge of neutrality, DNC has shown consistent bias against Donald Trump

Being an employee of a political party is miserable

Why Security Experts Think Russia Was Behind the D.N.C. Breach

a growing chorus of experts and officials have seen evidence that the Russian government was responsible.

The investigators determined that the hackers were part of APT 28, a group well-known among cybersecurity experts. The name is short for advanced persistent threat, which usually refers to government hackers.

Security firms and law enforcement officials have also used the name Fancy Bear, a reference to a widespread belief that the group is run by Russia (http://topics.nytimes.com/top/news/international/countriesandterritories/russiaandtheformersovietunion/index.html?inline=nyt-geo)’s military intelligence agency, the G.R.U.

The investigation might have ended there, but CrowdStrike discovered another, better-hidden infiltrator in the computers of the Democratic committee:

A group known as APT 29, or Cozy Bear, which is considered more skillful and has been linked to the F.S.B., the main successor to the K.G.B.

Cozy Bear, it seemed, had had complete access to the committee’s systems for almost a year.

the forensic evidence the experts were able to collect connecting these intrusions to Russian agencies was very strong compared with other cases.

Both APT 28 and APT 29 use methods “consistent with nation-state level capabilities,” according to a CrowdStrike report (https://www.crowdstrike.com/blog/bears-midst-intrusion-democratic-national-committee/), and they target foreign militaries and military contractors in a pattern that “closely mirrors the strategic interests of the Russian government.”

https://www.yahoo.com/news/exclusive-hacked-emails-of-dnc-oppo-researcher-point-to-russians-and-wider-penetration-154121061.html?nhp=1

In mid-June, Democratic Party suspicions about the hackers seemed to be confirmed when CrowdStrike, an outside security firm retained by the DNC, reported that it traced the hackers to two separate units linked to Russia’s security services: the FSB, Russia’s equivalent of the FBI, and GRU, the country’s military intelligence agency. The company noted strong similarities between the attack on the DNC by the suspected GRU hackers and previous cyberintrusions of unclassified systems at the White House, the State Department and the offices of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. (After discovering the data breach, a DNC security source said its cyberexperts noted that the hackers’ exfiltration of files took place “9 to 5, Moscow time.”) An FBI official confirmed that the bureau has been investigating the breach for some time, and, according to one source familiar with the matter, Director James Comey has been personally briefed.

A bit more nuancee view:

https://www.yahoo.com/news/behind-democrats-email-leak-u-experts-see-russian-023638680.html?nhp=1

Analysts said Russia's goal may be much broader than simply meddling in the U.S. presidential election.

"It’s a gross oversimplification to suggest that the Russian government is all-in for Donald Trump," said Andrew Weiss, a Russia analyst at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a Washington-based think tank.

"It's in Russia's interest ... to portray the United States as riven with popular discontent, xenophobia and high-level political corruption," Weiss said. "It fits nicely with the Kremlin's standard narrative ... that the White House rushes to criticize others without getting its own house in order."

The Russian leader may well have been encouraged by Trump's comments to The New York Times last week that with him in the White House, NATO might not automatically defend the Baltic states that were once a part of the Russian-led Soviet Union.

Despite public Trump-Putin exchanges of praise, Eugene Rumer, a former national intelligence officer for Russia and Eurasia, warned against reaching any quick conclusions about Putin's view of Trump.

"We can say with some degree of confidence that they don’t like Hillary,” Rumer said. “It’s less clear that they like Trump, although over the years the Russians have said they prefer to deal with the Republicans – (that) they are kind of hard-line but they can do deals."

A diplomat with experience working on Russia said the Kremlin also might be betting that Clinton will win and is sending a shot across her bow.

“Messing with her like this now puts her on notice that these are tough guys that she’s got to be really careful with,” said the diplomat, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

A U.S. intelligence official who is reviewing the emails as part of the investigation into their origin said that those emails describing the privileges the Democratic National Committee showers on its wealthiest donors bolster the Russian narrative of an American political system rigged by the wealthy and riddled with corruption.

"In addition to countering the U.S. narrative that the Russian government is a corrupt oligarchy, leaking these emails fits rather conveniently with Trump's charges about a rigged system and 'crooked Hillary'," said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss domestic politics.

What is funny about this, is that Putins support for Trump may entirely be based on how shitty Putin thinks Trump would be as president.

They may have gotten into Hillary's server. I would not say they did or didn't, I have no expert evidence to that effect, although I seem to recall someone mentioning something along those lines. Certainly those servers would have been high-priority targets, if the Russians had known about them.

LOL glossing over the why's of the release of DNC emails, to try and change the subject. You are so predictable.

How far the bar has declined

What Trump is proposing is what forced Nixon to resign

So the official nominee of a major American political party called on a foreign government to hack into either the computers of his political opponent or the computers of federal law enforcement officers.

Trump is not the president, and this situation will never involve the abuse of presidential power issues that Watergate did, but in most other respects this is like Watergate if Richard Nixon had publicly announced his involvement from the beginning.

This is a modernization of the tactics Nixon and his team used in 1972

Don't know never been to his site. Your girl just got another friendly email drop

http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2016/07/breaking-guccifer-2-0-drops-new-cache-democrat-emails/
Guccifer 2.0, the hacker who breached the Democratic National Committee, has released a cache of purported DNC documents to The Hill in an effort to refocus attention on the hack.
The documents include more than 11,000 names matched with some identifying information, files related to two controversial donors and a research file on Sarah Palin.
“The press [is] gradually forget[ing] about me, [W]ikileaks is playing for time and [I] have some more docs,” he said in electronic chat explaining his rationale.
The documents provide some insight into how the DNC handled high-profile donation scandals. But the choice of documents revealed to The Hill also provides insight into the enigmatic Guccifer 2.0.
The hacker provided a series of spreadsheets related to Norman Hsu, a Democratic donor jailed in 2009 for running a Ponzi scheme and arranging illegal campaign contributions. The DNC responded by assembling files to gauge the exposure from Hsu to its slate of candidates.
Similar files on Paul J. Magliocchetti, a lobbyist closely associated with the late Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.), provide a quick reference document outlining Magliocchetti’s donations to Republicans. Magliocchetti pleaded guilty in 2010 to involvement in a pay-for-play campaign finance scheme.
Guccifer 2.0 has claimed to be a Romanian hacker with no strong political leanings. Guccifer 2.0’s choice to release documents from Magliocchetti and Hsu, whose cases are now six and seven years old, shows a detailed knowledge of American politics seemingly at odds with the backstory provided by the hacker.

Should I be trying to prove some other scummy thing? I'm not following you here.

Would you at least agreed that Trump turned this into a comical remark to a national security threat?

His comments simply backfired and gave the Clinton camp and the media plenty of things to attack him with.
Comical remark? Here was simply asking Russia to abide by treaty 106-22 signed by Bill Clinton :lmao

“This has to be the first time that a major presidential candidate has actively encouraged a foreign power to conduct espionage against his political opponent. That’s not hyperbole, those are just the facts. This has gone from being a matter of curiosity, and a matter of politics, to being a national security issue.”

The problem though is that the press release says the hacking is the national security issue -- not the emails themselves.

She used a server to conduct official business, refuses/had refused to turn over emails -- emails that may or may not have been deleted, and the focus is on the idiocy coming out of Trumps mouth? People have their priorities out of whack.

Right. We should be focusing on which children we prefer to have starve to death. How could we forget about that priority.

Any particular children you want to watch starve today?

Wathc him do some more mental gymnast. :lol

People who try to argue a point with TSA never seem to get through. He always has to be right.

Of course not.

The hallmark of the zealot is to never, ever, admit fault in the pre-existing belief system. Phenomanul cannot admit that his bible God did some scummy things, and papers over mass murder, and all sorts of other evil things.

In this case, he can't admit the Trump said something fucktarded or scummy.

One of the basic tenets of good critical thinking is intellectual honesty, and idealogues know at some level that they are being irrational, which is why they will either never be able to admit fault, or like tlong, refuse to follow what should be fair questions.

All of which feeds into evidence of a fairly consistent pattern in conservative politics: pure irrationality. The more one sees stuff put forth here, the obvious that is.

vy's point though is exactly relevant.

The "national security issue" is that a major candidate is actively encouraging a foreign power to meddle in US politics by disclosing stolen data.

Meh. You said something I find extremely morally objectionable. Could I be less of a jerk about it? Sure. I find the sentiment extremely hard to forgive, and emblematic as to what is wrong with conservative politics in general, i.e. an underlying streak of immorality.

You already posted a link to what he said/meant.

He said if they already had Clinton's 30,000 deleted private emails to turn them over. You said earlier this meant he was asking them to turn over classified US material. Hillary Clinton said there was nothing classified in those private emails. Either you are wrong or Hillary was lying.

Trump will just say Hillary said there was nothing classified on them, he's got his bases covered.

No, the "national security issue" is if the Russians ACTUALLY have classified information hacked from Hillary's illegal private home brew server. She is the only one responsible for this "national security issue". Your deflection attempts are pathetic. And you constantly speak of intellectual honesty, please :lol
