ugh not another Parker vs Manu thread but...Where's the Manu FMVP? Did Manu have a seaon comparable to Tony's 2008-2009 season? Who is the Spurs all time leader in assists? Solly cholly - Parker > Manu and there's no argument otherwise.

The Fmvp media gave to him? He is not with Jordi, Pippy, Magic, drexler, Kobe, Lebrón, wade in playoff performances but Manuel belongs to that club, can you dig that shit?

Lol, I think I'll trust the consensus narrative on Parker before your hatorade. He was leading the MVP race before he got injured at the end of the season and then, as was constantly noted after his dominance in the WCF, he was being called the best player in the playoffs. Sorry you think he was playing like he was 20 years old...he wasn't. Even back then he was way better than Chalmers though.

Notably, all the Parker nut-huggers' material ends after 2013. Whatever Parker was, dude is slow and fat now. It's all good, getting old happens, but the beef is that he hasn't refined his game and keeps trying to play the same old way. Why that cat gotta keep pressing the "hero-ball, dribble-nonstop" button when he's a shell of his former self? He needs to refine his 3-point and midrange game and look to facilitate, not run the shot clock down and then dump it off to Kawhi with 6 seconds on the clock.

True, but people have to realize and/or accept, that Leonard isn't the typical elite player. He's never going to be a great breakdown or creator type.

The reality is, they're going to have to find a dynamic guard, who excels at these things, in order to have a legitimate chance to win a championship during this era.

We need an average scorer off the guard position. Emphasis on average. Our OLD guard are old. We can't blame Kawhi for no being able to win with that cast. Even Duncan blew out his tires.

Kawhi was amazing to me. The car has been riding on rims for a while now.

I thought that last season TP played the best defense in his career. He can still improve, but at least he doesn't play D like Harden.

I agree that he needs to reinvent his game to a degree. Be consistent enough to hit the three ball places other than the corners.

No, "we" need a lead ball handler/play maker because that's never going to be Leonard's game, especially not for a team with championship aspirations.

No one is blaming him, though I don't see why he should be exempt from being judged by the same cliche standards that every other player of and above his magnitude is.

He's (along with Pop, in terms of the national media) got the best gig in the league, in the sense that, when they look like a juggernaut, he receives most of the credit. When they don't, everyone else receives most of the blame.

Yeah, because right or wrongly, the star(s) usually receive the brunt of the blame.

In many cases, it's stupid, but why should he be exempt? In 2 playoff runs as the best player on the team, they've lost 2 series they were favored in (shouldn't have been, but whatever), with 4 losses at home and without him damn near single handedly winning a game they otherwise wouldn't have.

Parker, to this day, criticized for '03, '04 and '05, when he was 21-23 and not the best player on the team, but a guy who's older and just finished 2nd in MVP voting needs excuses made for him?

Kawhi wasn't playing alongside 03, 04, 05 Duncan. League fucked. :lol

Nobody said half the shit is truth, it could be 3/4 is there a formula to calculate that?
Since Ice has never won shit both are better, why do you bring him to the conversation? dude was a coke dealer...

So by that logic, Robert Horry is better than Duncan.

No, he was only playing alongside, what was statistically one of the greatest regular season teams of all time . . . but keep moving the goal posts and making excuses.

Not really. And it doesn't even matter if we're talking about the fucking regular season. :lmao

After 2013? How about 2014 when he was the only All-Star on the team? Oh, and the only All-NBA player. Oh, and he led the team in scoring throughout the regular season, playoffs, and finals. Oh, and he led the Spurs in assists throughout the regular season and playoffs on the way to another championship.

We are talking about stars, Eichman did nothing during the playoffs, he is the first Spur patriot ever but thats it, if you say he was better than prime Manu winning everywhere or even playing at high level at almost 40 years you mean 2 things a) Gervin is with Wilt-Jordan and b) you need to see a doctor.

Yes, really and it does matter, because it illustrates that, no matter how bad they looked at the end, Leonard wasn't some one man band carrying an otherwise awful team.

Uh yeah. We sucked ass vs all the good teams. It said we beat all the bad teams and couldn't beat the good teams well enough. Context here. :lol

I'm tired of educating you here. :lol

It said, overall, "we" were a historically great regular season team.

I realize this is part spin, but you're not seeing the forest from the trees here. This wasn't the early aughts 76ers, Magic, Timberwolves or even Spurs.

If Durant, Westbrook, Paul, Griffin, etc., do what the Spurs did the past two post seasons, even if they raised their game, as the clear lead player on the roster, they'd have received a lot more criticism.

So did Aldridge, yet he receives constant criticism.
I don't think so.

I understand some criticism since most fans thought LMA would be the guy who keeps scoring when Kawhi has a bad night, and the offensive player who would solve Spurs issues on offense in playoffs replacing Tim/Parker/Manu scoring.

We know that PER stats favor offense-oriented players over two-way players like Kawhi, that's why I think people felt a bit disappointed because they expected LMA as #2 on PER, being one of the greatest scorers in playoffs

But "constant" criticism? No. In fact, most fans, me included, think he will look great in 2016/17, the adaption proccess has finished and he will get a lot more comfortable on the team this next season.

Doesn't matter what those numbers say, last two season he was bigtime dissepointment that was falling under the pressure come playoff time...

True, but people have to realize and/or accept, that Leonard isn't the typical elite player. He's never going to be a great breakdown or creator type.

The reality is, they're going to have to find a dynamic guard, who excels at these things, in order to have a legitimate chance to win a championship during this era

Not sure. He didn't "fail". Either LMA. Both matched Durant/Westbrook production (Kawhi/LMA combined=25 ppg .502 FG% Durant-Westbrook=26.7 ppg .438 FG%) but our bigs and the rest of role players couldn't match OKC's. That was the real issue.

But agree with you that the Spurs need a true playmaker in the SL, even when Kawhi has improved a lot, he's more a scorer than a playmaker, and Parker never was one, he never had Manu's elite court vision or his passing-talent.

That probably barely covers renting the place, tbh... and he's putting his time in it while he could be texting LMA's wife or sunbathing in the Bahamas...

You gotta give him some credit.

:D

At least he's not eating.

Lol. I'd rather he be working his Dunk game than his Curry impressions...
