To James Harden,

Man, someday you will want to win the NBA title also.

When that time comes, come to the Spurs, for the vet min, so we dont need to gut our roster.

Do it, and taste the aura of victory. Come to us!

Manu has a lot more tools to work with the Spurs this year!

he can be inserted into the SL, and wreak havoc with Pau Gasol.....

at the bench:

Manu and David Lee

Manu to Bertans for three!!!!!!!!!!!

Manu to Simmons!!!!

Manu and Murray could be the wizards of chaos!!!

His answer was Manu Ginobili.

With that team you can beat any other NT of that era, thats a fact, Lebron Wade Melo and Stoudejew should have feasted everyone, MJ won the 1984 Olympic with a teenager team and he was 21 and that was the average age of that squad, Thats a kick in the balls to every guy of the roster, including Duncan.

So Manu oly 06> Duncan 03?

Manu unselfish> Tim unselfish?

Manu>-d Rob is obvious ?

Generally when ranking spurs you should stipulate whether your looking at franchise impact vs indiv skill.

Parker leads Manu on franchise impact. But not skill.

Drob leads everyone but Duncan on franchise impact. Same with ability.

It's really, the great two, then the rest, ice, gino,, Parker, kawhi

I remember seeing a pre-draft video of James Harden years ago and he was asked who his favorite player to watch in the NBA was, and he responded with Manu Ginobili. The similarities in their game is impossible to ignore.

Big praise against a guy like Chris Mullin

Not really. Mullin was slow and a poor defender. He was a good outside shooter with good BB IQ, but Manu had more varied skill set when you consider passing, defense, and ball handling. I'm not sure he ever meant more to his teams than Manu did.

I did a comparison on their stats at Basketball reference and found them to be similar in some respects, but I think Manu's stats were a little better overall. Still, it makes for great conversations in bars and on Spurs Talk. :toast

Why Gervin so high? He was a scorer but that's it. Could get to the rim but terrible shooter. Couldn't pass like manu, couldn't see the floor like manu, didnt provide or contribute to the all around game.

Gervin was a 10 time NBA All Star, and 7 times All NBA (5 1sts, 2 2nds), not to mention a HOFer. I don't think you get any of that by being as limited as you say he is.

My all-time Spurs List (Contribution / Franchise Impact / Talent):

Tim Duncan
David Robinson
George Gervin
Manu Ginobili
Tony Parker
Kawhi Leonard
Bruce Bowen
Sean Elliott
Larry Kennon
Artis Gilmore
Robert Horry
James Silas
Johnny Moore
Avery Johnson

Will LaMarcus make it to the list..? hopefully... Cause then it would mean that the Spurs added another trophy to their collection.

The other day i found this, itīs almost the entire second half of the Argentina USA Fiba Americas 2003 first meeting. That meeting was important for USA and also for Argentina, still more to USA that was on a vendetta mode after 2002, and also argentina had the qualification game on the next day.
Still you get how a very young Argentina team faced a fully complete US team with Duncan, Kobe (my bad didnt play), Kidd and all of the stars.
A very well played game and i think one of the best FIBA games of the last decade.
The game was close all the time and shows that Argentina Team got better for the Olympics, while USA couldnīt keep up. Still Argentina had a very good chance against them.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NnO-3L3uqo

Enjoy Manu and Duncan at their FIBA peak.

PD: The game ended 94-86 USA
