Unless you are on the floor, the sound is terrible. A dull echo reverberates over every song from the terrible acoustics in that god forsaken monstrosity of a building. Never, for any reason, buy concert tickets near the doors as it is completely inaudible.

Winstar Casino
Have you ever seen a public speaker in a huge professional conference room and thought, "Man, I bet this place would be GREAT for electric guitars?" That's the experience of seeing a show at Winstar. Folding chairs, cramped space, and shorter sets so they can be sure to get you back on the casino floor. Worst of all, you have to go to Oklahoma.

I was actually going to start this exact same thread directed at AT&T. Just awful. Was at the GnR/Cult show last night and the sound was terrible. Seemed like they put on a what would have been a great show if you could actually hear what they were playing and discern the separate instruments/voice. Anything on the low end is just a muddled mess.

I've heard Gexa is awful in the summer. Like a huge oven.

I can confirm this. If you're under the covered area, it's bearable but that's just until the sun moves and then there's quickly no shade for anyone and the sun hits you squarely on the back of your head and body.

Alamodome, unless maybe you have floor tickets for all the same reason on the initial post.

Yeah I almost listed Gexa. It sucks when it's hot and if you're in the back half of the lawn, the sound is terrible. Also I saw Weezer there a few weeks ago and the bass wasn't in the mix until 10 songs in.

But I left it off because I do still go to a lot of shows there.

That show was the inspiration for my post. I was in the 213 section and the sound was pretty poor. Then we moved towards the exits during the last couple of songs and it was completely inaudible. I can't imagine seeing a whole show from there or from any of the sections further up. I also couldn't tell if Axl's mic was cutting out a lot or if he just wasn't singing loud enough in some parts.

I really hate that Austin 360 Amphitheater. I saw Elvis Costello as the opening act, took a good 4 songs for the sound to get right, so that was half the set. But its not even so much the sound but the place is just so inconvenient. Out in the middle of nowhere, the parking lots are miles away from this venue, no covered seating, yada, yada, yada.

But I think the worst place is Gruene Hall. In any month other than January :lol

Going to a show tonight at the Tobin Center. First time there, I expect it'll be pretty nice

Are you sure it just wasn't Axl sounding like shit?

Axl was actually much better than I expected. He had more trouble with the lower register notes than the high ones.

Pretty sure about that. He looked like an old chubby woman. But when his voice was high enough to get past the muddled sound, he sounded great.
I will say that they had a delay effect at times so that the note he sang would carry out a little after he stopped.

I don't know. He came out with no hat or shades or anything. As the show progressed, he had on different hats so didn't quite look as bad. He probably should have kept the beard.
This is pretty much what he looked like.

Someone maybe named "Madge" or something.

360 is fine. I thought the acoustics were great. VIP section is nice and breezy. The only problem was some asshole smoking a cig right behind me instead of a joint. I had front row seats and ended up watching the rest of the concert from the crown royal club. Over all I will be back again.

went to austin360 to watch the shittiest band ever, deftones, with my ex last summer and though the place is nice, finding it, parking, and the heat made it unbearable but deftones made it cringe worthy. ugh what a shit band they are and oh how glad i am not to have to pretend to like them nor shit ass korn anymore. those were some dark days indeed but the head was great!
