Saw the trailer the other day. Haven't seem much else. Seems to have good early reviews from the critics.
Think I'll go see this one.

My son in law who is a computer geek (builds them and works in that biz) talked me into getting this Amazon Fire Stick. I bet I have 10,000 movies there. And, that is one of them.

Chris did something to the system in order to get so many movies, not sure what.

I highly recommend this Fire Stick system.

Hacksaw Ridge…I hear it is incredible even with Mel’s over the top violence…Amazing that Mel wanted to make a movie about an American hero but still finds so much Hollywood guff he did it all in Australia. Mel even flew out his favorite Hollywood editors & sound techs along with their families And provided lodging to work on his film.

WWII American Army Medic Desmond T. Doss, who served during the Battle of Okinawa, refuses to kill people and becomes the first Conscientious Objector in American history to be awarded the Medal of Honor.

I've been waiting on this one for awhile. Both as an actor and director Mel is one of my favorites. Apocalypto was such a badass film, saw it in theaters. Get the Gringo was better than I imagined. I just hope Hacksaw isn't too sappy like We Were Soldiers. Visually it looks pretty good though imo.

Apocalypto was such a badass film

[Apocalypto] is so deeply (American) at it's center, it's pointed core. I'm sure this is by Gibson design. He brings it directly to us. He wants to. He's drunk with the plan, the effort, knows where he wants to go, has permission and then goes there and stays until he is finished and we've had enough, had our fill. Father/son, son/son, son/wife, son/friend, friend/MIL, son/acquaintance, friend/wife, bully(s) merciless/without mercy/painted in grays with a fine brush, revenge/preemptive & pre-planned. (Son) needs it, the vengeance, but, we must have it and have it the way Gibson delivers it. He knew it, GD it. He knew.

& he gave it to us. All we had to do is ask.

This doesn't make any sense. Do you feel the same way about athletes with checkered personal lives? It's entertainment, and I'm not interested if said actor/athlete/etc is a bigot, misogynist, homosexual, criminal, whatever.

How does it not make sense? It's a personal preference. I Absoultely feel that way about athletes with checkered pasts and who I root for. Depends on the nature of the crime/accusations but yes, people that are bigoted/sexist etc.. I have a problem with watching especially when it comes to paying money out of my own pocket.

I had to watch Kobe because I had no choice if I was watching the games. With movies, I can choose not to go.

I don't see how it's petty or naive TBH...

I'm not boycotting his movies and trying to lecture other people on seeing him :lol. I just don't look at him the same and on top of never thinking he was as good as others did, knowing who he is just turns me off to watching him. I've tried but now all I see is "that Mel Gibson" any time I watch a movie with him.

I'm not losing sleep over him and not telling others how to feel, but I guess me not liking him and not wanting to spend my money is petty/naive?

Seems like a tough line to draw. Or is is just Mel Gibson? Do you find it hard to watch Bryan Singer's movies? Or listen to a Michael Jackson song?

It's a (tough line) that is boundless. For many years I admired the hell out of Burt Lancaster for his acting ability and insistence on doing his own stunts in his films. In "The Train" he is a wonderment. I'm in a Goodwill one day and I find his bio book on the shelf. I'm leafing thru it and find there that he had nary use for conservatives. Ruined my day. But, I made peace with it. You have to, or, you'll miss a lot, your example of (Michael Jackson) a prime example.

Much easier to overlook if the work is already done and appreciated. Bad, Thriller and the previous work was done and gone by the time I had an inkling about his penchant for kids. Also the fact that his music never really approached that level again so I didn't have to make that call. Didn't know about Singer until well after Usual Suspects. Now he's making superhero movies so I can still watch the shows and badmouth him at the same time.

That (before & after) tact is a might disingenuous, SS.

Oh I don't know. I got to enjoy the music, movie, etc. without any moral dilemma. If you had told me before hand..."this guy is a pedophile", I might have had a predisposition to not enjoy it. The more egregious the charge, the heavier the burden on me to not enjoy it. In any event, as to Gibson, he doesn't even register a blip on my radar. If I were to blackball his movies for his being drunk and saying dumb shit, it'd make me quite the hypocrite. And I couldn't care less what he actually believes. The thing that did the damage was he got wasted and said it out loud. Hollywood is full of crazies. Doesn't make his movies any more or less enjoyable. This one looks like it's in his wheelhouse, so I'll check it out.

What a miserable 90 minutes. GD it, guys, you got me.

The bright spot? I got the senior discount on my ticket.

What a fucking mess. I only permitted myself to see that still of Gibson sitting in front of his trailer and the three bad guys approaching. Coupled with the support of the movie by the fellows here I was primed.

The daughter cannot act. The actor must suck cock, a lot of it.
The plot is thin. Who gives, or would give a fuck about the girl, or, her dad? They don't know shit.
Of course we had to address gun control & illegals. Gibson has obviously seen the light & sold out.

I will never learn.

Blood Father okay-good. Certainly not great, certainly not crappy.
6.75, go ahead and round it up to 7/10 if you wish.

Casting was very good. Mel never did (that I know of) cater to the Hollywood phaggot overlords who control most films and we know he certainly doesn't now.
I like it when characters who are supposed to be tough guys look tough, or at least can act tough enough to fit the hard guy/criminal roles. Blood Father delivers on this front.

If possible, I suggest you view it with subtitles on. A bit annoying in that the volume jumps around and some of the dialogue which involves plot development does the low volume/mumbling thing. Annoying.

In these good guy vs bad guy plots, I always like it when to get over on bad guy the films do not resort to some completely unbelievable escapes to exalt Good Guy. Often times the up-until-then evil genius had used a very intelligent, albeit evil and/or violent means method to get over. Then films will show some incredibly stupid blunder on their part to free up our hero(s). While Blood Father has a bit of the unrealistic Great Escapes, all in all not too shabby.

Spoilers below. If you have seen it, please let me know.
Plot development I have a problem with is the start.

1. When the druggie punk asses start attacking Mels mobile home, Mel stabs one of these bitches as the bitch put his hand thru the window. Bitches now retreating to their pickup truck, Mel has a clear shot at all 3 of them but just fires warning shots, missing on purpose. What was up with that?

1a. When Mels neighbor and AA sponsor hears Mels under attack, he rounds up the neighborhood posse and they surround the 3 bitches. But like Mel, they let them go. What was up with that?

Mel about to have 9th child, this 9th one with *girlfriend* 26 year old Rosalind Ross. Not sure if she is on a monthly salary or will just get it in healthy child support. I'm assuming Mel did the paperwork properly after that Russian skank Oksana Grigorieva tried to fleece him.

Gibson is great, and he was great here, and who else could have played the part? I do like movies based on real life (compared to a total fantasy like a Thor, etc) to keep the violence real, something we didn't see there but it was a good movie anyway.

Loving this fire stick.

The Roadwarrior my fav Gibson movie.
