Yea, how retarded could NBA TV be? And it was basically an epic ending, too. Lakers missing a shot to win it and losing in OT. Someone should've been fired. What a bunch of dumb asses.

This game was just the start of a ringless decade for the Lakers. They would lose to the Celtics all six times in the sixties, including three Game 7's. This game definitely ranks high.

Then when it finally rolled around to our turn you'd a thought the end of the fuckin' world was at hand. Jesus H. Christ, pissin' & moanin', moanin' & groanin, Heinsohn & Stockton standin' there in Boston lookin' like somebody had died, or, lost money. Post Finals '85 they stood there and spoke in hushed tones completely ashen faced. It was akin to when JFK got his head blown off in '63. I ain't seen anything to compare till that YouTube video of your arena after they sold your shit in '13.

It's just one large lump of Celtic misery for me. That's the way it was accomplished, heralded, packaged & sustained. I just made up my mind it would never end and went about my life. That was it. Then Magic arrived and by God if he didn't fall right into the queue. But, whereas the others never learned, or, evolved, Magic did both. We were this||close to remaining in the shit. They/Celtics&Media tried to bully him out of it, then talk him out of it, but, he was directed, an agent from somewhere (heaven?), a miracle on earth who delivered us.

I remember that Sunday, June 9th. I was home. I'd been left alone upon request. Afterward it wasn't even a celebration, just a surreal recognition of a reality that seemed to not have taken place. I was stunned. I could not get used to it.

I guess that's cool n' all for you. But I'm glad that the this game could propel such misery for so long for LA Lakers fans. This was the second season for the franchise. And they would not win their first championship for yet another decade.

:lol West was a chucker something fierce.

Cousy was ahead of his time, though. A lot of his passing acumen looks modern.

Manu-style shovel pass in traffic:

Nash-style pass in the lane:

Another Manu-esque pass:

Cousy should be highly respected by any basketball fan since he pretty much created the modern PG style as we know it today, innovating ball handling and passing like no player before him. Pistol Pete and even Magic get a lot "credit" for skills Cousy first innovated.

Yea, I could see Cousy being an all-star in today's game. He'd shoot better with the better ball. Sam Jones would probably be, too. He was a scorer with a pure stroke.

Good thing or bad thing?;

I know Splits gives you the business for being against the black man, but I read your "racism" as tongue-in-cheek. I think you sympathize with the black man's struggle. You wept for Magic and defend Kobe like a Doberman. And Jim Brown was your boyhood hero.

Not looking for entertainment. Looking for honest discussion.

I think you get a bad rap as a Trump supporting racist. I think you play up the bitter old white man shtick to piss off Splits.

Better ball? Interesting. I've never heard or read anything about the ball making a difference. How was it different back then?

Heavier and harder. Shooting percentages, especially from distance were drastically down. I don't remember all the specifics. Might've been a harder leather that wore out faster than the fancy synthetics of today.
