It's not Spurs related, but it's about my friend, Noel, so it's in this forum :)

Felix, Scales Impress

http://www.nba.com/sonics/news/notebook051004.html

The clock is already ticking for the six players invited by the Sonics to training camp, who are looking to show the team enough to make the final roster at the end of this month. On the first day of camp, guard Alex Scales and forward Noel Felix stood out.

"Alex Scales and Felix did a real good job today," said Rashard Lewis. "Those two guys are really trying to make the team, and I think they have a good chance. Those guys have been working hard."

Weiss was impressed with the overall level of the players invited to camp.

"A lot of hustle, some talent with those guys," he said. "Scales hit some game-winners again, like he has been in the scrimmages. Roger Powell showed hustle. Felix was pretty solid. A lot of the new guys played well."

The Sonics will have one less invitee in camp after forward Omar Thomas was waived to make room for newly-re-signed Reggie Evans.

Now that they re-signed Reggie Evans, it will be very difficult for anyone from their camp to make their team.

But Noel had a great day (I talked to him after the first practice). He said he was in the finals in the 3-point shooting drill and lost to Ray Allen. Pretty great since earlier this summer Noel didn't have a 3-point shot.

The Sonics are trying to turn him into a long 3 who can defend, bang inside, and shoot from the perimeter.

Horry For 3!

Do you think he'll be able to make the team?

Do you think he'll be able to make the team?

Very unlikely .. they only have one roster spot left and Mateen Cleaves has a partial guarantee for that one.

If he gets into some preseason games and keeps working hard, he might get picked up by someone else. Nine teams were interested in him this summer.

Thats good, I wouldn't want to be on the Sonics.

:lmao

If you are a player trying to make the NBA, you play wherever you can.

If he's got a three pointer, what are we waiting for?

Oh, for him to get waived I guess....

Yeah, that would be the ideal situation.

Noel Felix as a Spur would be great in so many ways:

1. Spurs get an athlete who can really dunk :) and apparently also shoot some 3's.
2. Noel gets to play in the best organization in basketball.
3. His deceptively Latin sounding last name could appeal to the hispanic market :)

...

and of course there's a few other good reasons. ;)

His parents are from Belize.

So ... whatever that means ;)

I know but I had to make the situation sound better since he probably won't be able to make it with them :)

Noel in French is Christmas, is it not? Felix in Latin means happy. Do the math. :)

Noel had another great day in the morning practice. (He's at the evening practice now).

From Sonics.com ...

It was clear as the Sonics scrimmaged full-court Wednesday for 20 minutes that Ridnour is more aggressive in the open court that he was last season, probably a direct result of having the green light to run from Weiss. Playing on the white squad with starters Ronald "Flip" Murray, Roger Powell, Nick Collison and Robert Swift, Ridnour quickly got his team in position to score. Along with Ray Allen, Vladimir Radmanovic and invitee Noel Felix, Ridnour was one of the most impressive players in the scrimmage.

:smokin
I'm glad he is getting good press. But I think he got blocked ...

So far Alex and Noel are still hanging in there.

There's only one roster spot available between Mateen Cleeves, Alex, Noel, and Roger Powell.

Sonics Waive Two

SEATTLE - The Seattle SuperSonics have waived guards Tre Simmons and Ezra Williams, General Manager Rick Sund announced today.

The Sonics signed the two players, both rookies, on Sept. 30. Simmons, a University of Washington product, had gone undrafted in the 2005 NBA Draft. Williams, from the University of Georgia, was undrafted in 2003 and previously played for the Sonics 2005 summer-league team.

The Sonics have 18 players remaining on the roster, including three training-camp invitees - guard Alex Scales and forwards Noel Felix and Roger Powell.

By the way, I teased him about getting blocked here ...

And he said that Radmanovic got called for the foul :lol Weirdly, they have two retired NBA refs officiating their scrimmages. I never have heard teams bringing in refs to training camp.

It makes it more fun, like a real game.
